  1. That was Tailwind's work - a similar problem had occurred with FS9 and the fix is in Microsoft's Knowledge Base - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555608
  2. I can also now verify this works. Tonight my Win7 Home Premium (retail) 64-bit rig connected successfully to a multiplayer game with no problems. RESULT!!! Thanks for the tip, Von Paulus, I'll pass it on.
  3. What's Stopping You?

TurboSquid are sometimes slow to send you a code, or you don't hear from them at all. There is a registration workaround, available from http://www.fsalpha.com/gmax_tips/
  4. FYI, I've been using the nVidia plugin recently and found it doesn't open all types of .DDS files in PSP8. I've also tried Paint.NET with the same files and they open no problem. DXT1 non-transparent ones, iirc.
  5. inverting colors

    You could give Paint.NET a try - it's freeware. www.getpaint.net/download.html
  6. Viso strikes again, methinks? Keep plugging away!
  7. Windows 7

I hope my last post didn't mislead anyone, I mean Windows 7 won't work with Multiplayer - QC and missions work just fine. XP is a great OS, which is why I have a dual-boot setup with XP Pro on the other HD to cater for the apps I still use which need it. I really like Win 7 as a working environment. Look on it as "Vista fixed" if you like, and I hated Vista.
  8. Windows 7

Can't comment on BHaH, but P2 and CFS3 itself don't work on the pre-release versions of Windows 7. I've tried it with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and CTD is the result every time. The 'Vista fix' for CFS3 doesn't help either. I don't know about the final code for Windows 7, my copy is still with the carrier.
  9. What's Stopping You?

Uncle Milton is your man; his excellent C162 tutorial covers mapping in very good detail:- http://www.flightsimonline.com/C162/ Don't be put off by the FS9 flavour, most of his stuff is directly applicable to CFS3/OFF.
  10. What's Stopping You?

That's a good first model Rooster! Now you've got it together, have look at the tutorial on smoothing in this link:- http://www.sim-outho...ead.php?t=15533 and see what use you can put it to! And hello Flyby, good to see you're still in circulation!
  11. As long as both extrusions are part of the same fuselage object, all you need to do is delete the poly at the top end of each strut extrusion. The vertices will then weld as required. I like the oil drum analogy for this problem:- Butt two oil drums end to end and weld the rims together and you will still have two oil drums. Cut an end out of each, butt them open end to open end and weld the rims together and you will have one oil drum, double sized. gMax is like that, only open ends will weld together to form a single object.
  12. Whatever you do, don't lose that XP Pro, not if you want to do anything using .MOS files. The .MOS editor needs Managed DirectX, which only runs under XP.
  13. Or you could try something that supports .dds files directly. Not that I've tried it, but AFAIK Paint.NET does. Something else - it's freeware..... www.getpaint.net
  14. The nVidia plug-in also works with PaintShop Pro - I have it on my PSP 8 install
  15. I'll keep my best shoes polished.
  16. 3D Plane Tutorial .....

Wow! Yay! Heyyyyy! How cool is that! Erm.. Is there an exporter from Maya to .M3D? Thought not... Maya looks a lot of fun, but for OFF you'll need gmax or 3dsMax, so same old headbanging and learning the hard way, I fear. But if anyone's interested in gmax modelling, have a look at Uncle Milton's aircraft building tutorial series. It's for FS9, so doesn't cover damage modelling or LODs, but as a thorough introduction to aircraft building for MS sims, including mapping and skinning, I can thoroughly recommend it. http://www.flightsimonline.com/C162/ Hello bzhyoyo, your colour-coding tip for LOD development (Netwings forum, once upon a time) was an eye-opener for me. Cheers, old chap!
  17. Don't use Import or Export, use Merge. Open the model you want to add bits to. Then select Merge... from the File menu and select the file with part(s) you want to add to your model. A list box opens and you select the parts you want to add, then click OK. Open the Select by Name list (key H or click on the Select by Name button on the toolbar) to see the part(s) highlighted in your model's part list. Beware of hidden parts - it's possible you may import parts that are hidden and you will have to Unhide them before they show up (key 5 - not the number pad 5 - or use the Display panel to see the list of hidden parts and select what you want). This is hugely useful for adding in bits from earlier or other versions of a model or incorporating parts you have been working on separately.
