  1. The new website is up. Take a look!! :D http://off.synapticshock.org/
  2. Thanks to Dantes for the info: For anyone who owns the excellent solo boardgame Wings Over France, there has been an announcement that it will soon be available for your computer. Knowing how everyone enjoys RB for its in-depth campaign structure, I think you will find that this will satisfy even the most finicky simmer who wants a break from the joystick (or sneak in a sim at work ). I have the boardgame and love it and look forward to purchasing this. Have a peek: http://www.roogames.co.uk/Wings.html Here is the link to the boardgame with some background: http://www.sportsgameshop.com/war.html
  3. Thanks to RAF Tiger at SimHQ for the info: S! Everyone, I thought I would stop by and let you know that there is a new utility for Red Baron 3D, A WWI flight sim which I believe many of you have played. There was a survey conducted of about 1,000 RB3D pilots, past and present, to determine why there was a decline in the number of pilots on the open servers. The survey uncovered the fact that as many as 37% of the pilots who were no longer flying RB3D had stopped playing as a result of upgrading to a newer, faster computer with newer Nvidia and ATI video cards. Based upon this information, {JG13}Kpijon wrote a program called the "RB3D First Aid Kit", which automatically configures Red Baron 3D to run on these newer machines with just a few mouse clicks. If you would like to have a copy, you can download it here; http://www.raf209.net/downloads/RB3D_First...Kit_BETA101.ZIP
  4. Some pretty cool stuff to look at! Thanks to rabu at SWWISA for the info. :)
  5. This is a Beta so be nice... Possibly the largest flyable aircraft for SDOE ever built! The L-11 was a rarity in that it NEVER was shot down or lost due to bad weather in WWI. I have a feeling it will not be so lucky in FS-WWI. Read the readme file CAREFULLY for instructions. Still left to do is a hi-res skin, the Zeppelin Hangar and a new flak unit. Note: Downloading and installing this will make you incompatible on-line with any missions that use the Zeppelin. You also MUST have the FS-WWI On-line Standard to use this download. Download here: Zeppelin L-11 Beta 2 (9.68 mb) Enjoy! :)
  6. These were taken by FlyXwire during this past weekend's on-line meet:
  7. This is the 2nd incarnation of Gypsy9's excellent repaint of Somme. You will find the colors more vivid, the buildings placed properly in the towns and airfields, and overall a much improved look of Somme. Download here: Somme Repaint 2 (33.8mb) Note: This is MUCH smaller that the original Somme Repaint. However, you do NOT have to have this download if you've already installed the FS-WWI On-line Standard. Having or not having this will NOT make you incompatable on-line. :)
  8. Here are some WIP screenshots with the slightly updated texture work and new interior models by Mossie and myself: Gotta love the German Army Airship Service...
  9. Please launch your Targetware program and get the latest download! Included are finished cockpits, a new aircraft, and many more bug fixes and updates! I hope to see you guys on-line more now.
  10. GREAT WAR FLYERS it's time to tackle the New Year head on, so report for duty this Sunday January 2nd on Hyper Lobby for some rousing FS-WWI action!!! Hit the tea early, clear those party heads, and see you on HL at 6pm GMT, (1pm EST, 12 noon CST, and 10am PST). .........PP4 compliant installs only..........
  11. Well, it's been a long, hard road full of delays, set backs, but more importantly... Passion and love for the hobby. This huge undertaking provides the very best the FS-WWI community has to offer. From the tiniest texture, to the intricately detailed aircraft and flight models. It is here! I hope you enjoy this MOD, and accept it for what it is. While this may be the final release of Plane Pack 4, we are by no means done with the current plane set, so expect to see more great things from us in the future! :D Now for the readme. And please, actually read it: ;) Welcome to Fighter Squadron WWI's Plane Pack series. A Plane Pack is a convenient way to get all of the latest planes, ground units, and missions, etc. This plane pack also lets you fly on-line over the internet. To fly with other people on-line, your aircraft must match the other player's aircraft or you will get a mismatch error. This makes the game more fun and avoids pesky cheaters. FS-WWI Plane Packs and Patches are the culmination of a large amounts of work by diverse groups of talented people. Each plane has been built with care including the 3D modeling, painting, flight modeling, and damage modeling. These aircraft are on a never-ending journey of improvement, each individual plane at its own stage of completion, so feedback is very helpful and desired! The install options you have are listed below. Each is listed in the order you should install them in. I also URGE you to READ the readme files. There is very valuable information in there that is to your benefit. I made these readme files to make both your life, and mine a lot easier. NOTE: OLDER CUSTOM MISSIONS WILL NOT WORK WITH PLANE PACK 4 DUE TO SQUADRON RENAMING. PLEASE OPEN UP OLD MISSIONS WITH THE 1.6.0.6 MISSION EDITOR, CHECK THE SQUADRONS AND RESAVE THEM. To Install: For this to all work, you MUST install SDOE fresh. The setup is too integrated to install all of this over an existing install of FS-WWI. You will over complicate things if you try to install this over an existing FS-WWI install. If you do a fresh install, TRUST ME, it will be a breeze... Install Option One (From fresh install of Fighter Squadron: Screamin' Demons Over Europe) 1. (665kb) Install the 1.5 Patch to your Fighter Squadron folder and run the game once to be safe 2. Please choose one of the following: a. (6.79mb) Install the Latest Wings with Wires Patch b. (29.3mb) Install the Latest FS-WWI Themed Patch for a WWI-only game. 3. (9mb) Install the FS-WWI Nations v2.0 Pack (Mirror Link) 4. (80.2mb) Install the Full Somme Terrain (Mirror Link) Install any other terrains you might want BEFORE proceeding to the next step. 5. Please choose one of the following: a. (337mb) Install the FS-WWI Plane Pack 4 b. (162mb) Install the FS-WWI Plane Pack 4 with 8-bit textures for smaller download size. (Mirror Link) 6. For on-line play, please download the latest version of Hyperlobby Settings and Tweaks: I have put together a document which will help you tweak FS-WWI for your system. You can find it here: Getting the Best We hope you enjoy flying FS-WWI using Inertia's OpenPlane game engine. In our opinion, OpenPlane is THE engine for WWI flight! -ArgonV (ArgonV@AOL.com) I wish to thank Sean at Wings with Wires, Steel and Helmut from Real life Gaming Downloads for the file hosting. Enjoy! :D
  12. FS-WWI Plane Pack 4 Released!

Mirror links and file sizes added.
  13. SDOE and X-45

Go to where you installed the 1.6.0.6 Patch version. In there is a EXE file called FSSDOEJoystick.exe Select your throttle HOTAS in the drop down menu and then move the throttle. Whatever slider you see moving note the name of it to the left. This is the name SDOE needs to have in the throttle up/down keyboard.inp command statement in the 1.6.0.6 Patch folder. :)

  15. Plane Pack 4 has gone gold. :) The Nieuport 28... Ah yes I remember this... Still not built yet as we've got so many other things that are built to finish up, but one day!! BTW, the new file list will be up on x-mas day so I hope you didn't download what's on my main page at the FS-WWI site!!
  16. A very unexpected surprise! I saw this posted on the Wings of Valor forums: A freeware addon for CFS3 that will recreate the AIRWAR that heralded the beginning of aerial combat as we know it today. The add-on will encompass at least the following in an effort to immerse the simmer into the 1914 - 1918 airwar: 1) Recreation of historical fronts, accurately placed, that stretch from Nieuport to Switzerland. Front lines will move over the years as they did historically 2) Detailed and accurately rendered front sectors such as Somme, Verdun, Ypres that will include pock marked and devastated landscapes, trenches, barbed wire, sandbags shattered trees/woods and more. 3) Detailed villages and towns such as Arras, Albert, Amiens, St Quentin, Douai, Ypres, Verdun and Cambrai to name but a few, that are laid out logically with proper roads, and details such as French buildings (typical of the era), telegraph poles hedgerows, and more. 4) Detailed destroyed villages that will give the simmer an idea of what happened to the villages and towns unfortunate enough to be near the front 5) Thoroughly researched and accurately placed Airfields such as Bertangles, Boiry St Martin, Flez, Roucourt, to name but a few, complete with realistic hangars, tented hangars and "Circus" hangars as applicable, with grass fields typical at the time. 6) Updated and improved in sim map, that shows the position of the front and names of important towns and landmarks that aviators can navigate by. 7) An initial base set of craft typical of the 1916/1917 era - details to be provided This will encompass the most important single and two seater craft. 8) An initial ground units set that will include WW1 tanks, artillery, and observation balloons etc. 9) Improved objects such as flora and building textures. When?: It is anticipated that the addon will be released sometime during the first quarter 2005 - certainly after MAW. I cannot say more than that presently. How?: The team currently is a very small enterprise that includes: David "Davo" Payne Rob "Capt Winters" Stevenson Bill "wckesq" Kimmelman Mark "Winding Man" Andrews With important technical and consulting input from: Ed "gzr_Groundhog" Wilson - who is Part of the DESERT RATS MAW TEAM Bill "Spitfrnd" Wilson - Airfile expert and MAW Team Lead Aircraft team member Here is a list of aircraft hoped to be included: Allied Craft Sopwith Camel * Sopwith Triplane Sopwith Pup * Sopwith Strutter SE5A * Nieuport 11 Bebe Nieuport 17 * Spad 7 Two Seaters RE8 (Harry Tate) BE2C Brisfit * Central Powers Craft Albatross DII * Albatross DIII * Albatross Dva Fokker Dr1 Fokker DVII Pfalz DIII * Two Seaters Roland DII Albatross C1 Hannover See this forum for more details: http://www.cfcforums.com/forumdisplay.php?...sc&daysprune=30 Very cool stuff!!!!
  17. Good suggestion!! Does he have enough space and bandwidth?
  18. Ok mates, here she is! No readme yet... So extract to your Fighter Squadron\Media folder with the 'Use folder names' option checked in WinZip. I would like to thank Recon3 for his AMAZING work here not only with the modeling but the FANTASTIC skin work and coding as well!!!!! I would also like to thank Catweasle for the current engine run sound. The flight model got a severe overhaul by myself as well as many code tweaks in general. Also, per FlyXwires request for covered wheels, you can now select them via the loadout options in the ME! The 'G' key aligns the pilot view with the gunsite and the 'X' key is the lean-over the side view. Finally the D.VII is up to current standards, infact it FAR surpasses it!!!!!!! Of course, we cannot forget the original builders Tim West and John Muth. Without them, we may possibly have never gotten the Fokker D.VII in-game! At the time, the D.VII was the most advanced aircraft in FS-WWI and in itself set a whole new standard to follow. Now, we hope to continue the D.VII's tradition in FS-WWI Plane Pack 4. :) Here's the link: Fokker D.VII Beta You will need the latest FS-WWI On-line standard as well. Blacksheep, this is an even more updated zip than the one I gave you. This includes updated missions, GUI stats and pic, and includes the missing new pilot and Spandau gun textures. :) Enjoy!
  19. Final D.VII release here: Fokker D.VII Final v2.0 This includes updated FM, updated cockpit texture, updated engine sounds and updated fuse texture. This is the full package so no need for the file in the first post. :)
  20. Yes, sad but true... I for one will miss the long and in-depth talks about WWI flight models, performances of aircraft and just good WWI aviation talk in general. Please visit http://www.wingswithwires.com for their blow-out sale of their inventory of products! Hopefully one day they will return... S!
  21. wheres the plane packs??

Hello! They are on the main/first page of this site: http://argonv.tripod.com/FSWWI_Page/readme.htm It's the site in my sig. Hosting I need!!! I will have to find a new host once Plane Pack 4 is finished. I need about 500+ mb of space. Can BioHaz handle that? I'm hoping to tell all the Sim websites before I go public with Plane Pack 4 to spread the word.
  22. Just to clarify some things up: There is a lot of talk about copyrights these days. I would like it to be known publicly that each creation in any form from any of the FS-WWI Development team members is owned by them via an inherited copyright at the time of creation. If you wish to edit these works privately please give credit where credit is due. If you wish to post them for download, display the work(s) in screen shots or use them in any way public PLEASE ask the original author(s) permission before doing so. ANY FS-WWI material cannot under any circumstances be used in a commercial venture or in any form of profit yielding medium. If the original author(s) cannot be contacted, please contact me and I personally will attempt to contact the author(s) or judge for myself based on the inherited copyright to me by distribution of the creation(s).
  23. Plane pack 4...when????

Hello! We are shooting for a X-mas time release date. FlyXwire is done with the Spad V.II textures and I'm done doing the required edits. Recon3 is almost finished with the Fokker D.VII then I must be sure everything is in place then it's release! It was originally set for a August/September release date but a few things came up in my personal life and I could not find the time. But it's nice to have the team to pick up some of my slack! As for a new Spad V.II skin, you will have to talk to the FS-WWI crew for that. I know FlyXwire is very busy, as is Recon3. Might could post asking for Gypsy9 to do you one but he was working on a few things if I remember correctly too... We are all just so busy all the time!!
  24. Pang, a member of the Wings with Wires team and a long standing SDOE and FS-WWI fan announced at http://www.wingswithwires.com that he intends to redo and improve FS-WWI flight models across the board one step at a time. While the Wings with Wires project is currently in limbo, this is indeed some good news to us FS-WWI fans! Read more about it here: Pang's Post at Wings with Wires
  25. JoGunn had this to say: "The Allies rejoice as 2 new craft are being prepped for use over the front in Richthofen's Skies. Rumours of this have the Central Powers forces scrambling to design and develop appropriate countermeasures. Come check out the plane in the near future at a RS server near you." Please visit the Richthofens Skies website for future updates and info. :)
