  1. Check these OUTSTANDING new screen shots at the Knights Over Europe website: http://www.aspectsimulations.com/Prod_KOE_Gallery.htm :D
  2. Here she be! An excellent skin indeed by FlyXwire based off of Recon3's work. This is for the FS-WWI Plane Pack 3 + Patch Nieuport 17c1 ONLY. Get it here: Hi-res Belgian Nieuport 17c1 Skin Enjoy! :)
  3. Please have at her! You will be AMAZED by the work he's done!! 8) New cockpit, new wings, new fuse, new skin, new H and V stabs, basicly new everything! I just added in a moving throttle and rudder peddals and made a new shadow and damaged model. FlyXwire also made some small corrections with the skin. Report any bugs here. You MUST have the latest FS-WWI On-line Standard for this download to work, and this will make you incompatable on-line. Get it here: Final Albatros D.I v2.0 (6.86mb) Enjoy! :)
  4. FlyXwire has been ever so kind to give this kite a new hi-res paint job! The skin is 512x512 and very detailed. This skin is for the FS-WWI Plane Pack 3 + Patch Maurice Farman S.11 only. (I say this because a new version of the Maurice Farman S.11 is comming soon!) Download it here: 512x512 Maurice Farman S.11 Skin Enjoy! :)
  5. This excellent 1024x1024 skin is by Gypsy. Be sure to read the included Readme file carefully for installation. Download here: 1918 Fokker Dr.1a Skin Enjoy! :D
  6. I thought I would keep the general public up-to-date here. :) Currently the Ilya V is undergoing a revamp. I have the info now thanks to Mossie to correctly model this Russian bomber inside and out. A totally new cockpit is being built, (About 80% done) aswell as many new model fixes/corrections (Wing thickness, upper gun terrace, landing struts and wheels) and new engines too! However I currently need a skinner for this kite. I would like a 1024x1024 skin. I will remap any wing/fuse surfaces if needed aswell if there is any model streaching... FlyXwire has skinned the Maurice Farman S.11 in full 1024x1024 glory. A cockpit revamp to come in the near future! Gypsy has another Fokker Dr.1a skin on the way. Expect that to be released this week. Recon3 is doing touch-up work on his Albatros D.I rebuild/revamp, aswell as a reskinning and retexturing to go along. Progress on this is almost complete! Currently there are 12 aircraft in the list that need to get complete for FS-WWI Plane Pack 4 to start becomming a close reality. The 3 above are in that list and as soon as they are done there will be only 9 left! On the terrain front... I have the latest Albert terrain build from Gypsy. There are several things that need to be fixed on this. There is a second No Mans Land front lines that needs to be gotted rid of (This will require a remap and re-texture reference of these tiles) and there is a railway bridge that goes straight across No Mans Land that needs to get rotated to the other direction. Then of course there are small things like making the targets and airfields and cities match up with the Mission Editor symbols and what not. Plane Pack 4 is going to be the best FS-WWI has to offer (Aswell as FS-WWI developers) This will be the signature and standard of what OpenPlane can do I hope! Progress continues, and at this time it will until everything is the best as can be, our time and talent permitting.
  7. Red Baron was a very good sim in its day... Ah the joys I had shooting down the Red Baron and painting my own aircraft! :D
  8. I'm curious GhostDog, what WWI sims have you played? I've played everyone since Red Baron I and Knights of the Sky. :) I do agree tho that the last good attempt at a full fledged WWI sim was Red Baron 3d (And even that at the time had many drawbacks) and something really needs to be done about it! That was almost 10 years ago! We've had nothing but mods and packs since... No commercial WWI sim. :( Really saddens and upsets me. WWI air combat IMO is the very essense of areial combat.
  9. This excellent skin is by Gypsy. Be sure to read the included Readme file carefully for installation. Download here: Werner Voss Fokker Dr.1a Skin Enjoy!
  10. Hello! I'm looking for a texture artist to paint me a 1024x1024 skin for the FS-WWI Ilya Mourometz V Russian bomber. Please e-mail me at ArgonV@AOL.com if you're interested. Thanks! :) P.S. If any of you have any interior pics of this bomber (Be them in a book or on the PC) could you please e-mail me?
  11. Indeed! I hope to God Knights Over Europe is a success...! :D We need an up-to-date WWI sim... Heck Im still flying RB3d and FS-WWI!!! Those sims are using 5-9 year old technology...
  12. I agree... There is little talk here. On the other hand tho, there are tons of WWI sim fans out there on other forums. :D
  13. JoGunn, the now project leader for the WWI mod Target: Flanders posted a couple of days ago at www.ww1sims.com that Target: Flanders developement will be winding down in anticipation for the release of a new WWI project for Targetware. Here is what he had to say: "Target Flanders is clocking down it's final days. Look for a new WW1 Module to be announced for Targetware in the near future. Why you ask? Well, since you didn't really ask I'll not comment unless someone does in fact want to know! I do hope you'll stop by and take a look around when you hear news that the new mod is up and running. It is even now still a beta so if you cannot be bothered with looking at a work in progress then consider watching for a announcement that we are finished. From what I know of this sim and the Targetware Community there will be updates and attention paid to this mod for as long as it exists. We do not have to play second fiddle as the players run the show! Stay tuned JoGunn" When I inquired about the reasons for this, he responded: "Target Flanders will be the base of the new mod. IN other words we will use the current planes and terrain tiles. A name for the new mod has been selected. It will be announced near the time the updated Targetware WW1 mod is made available to the public. The Target:Flanders mod is being shelved for the following reason. While I was perhaps the first to inquire on the targetware forums about a WW1 mod for their flight engine I did not start the project. The original team has drifted away for various reasons. I did not want to see the dream of a player built WW1 sim fade away as well. I share a similar "Vision" that the original team did but perhaps am not focused on being as historically "Rigid". In other words I want to keep everything as historically accurate as possible but not at the expense of lowering the "Fun" level for the average player. An evening of flying without contacting the enemy is not a "Welcome Relief" for me - as it was stated in the original Target:Flanders "Vision Statement" I do not intend to build a arcade game or a furball server. Targetware is very flexible and we will likely experiment with a variety of game play options within the scenario system. But to answer the question of why shelve Target Flanders ...... I was uncomfortable with the notion of taking the work of the original team and changing into something that they didn't approve of. Even though they have to some extent abandoned it, I want to archive the Target Flanders mod and leave it in it's present state in the event that they may one day have a renewed interest and bring the vision of a "Day at the Front" style server back once again. In the meantime I will take the best of what TF had to offer in my opinion and mix in my idea of what will make a new WW1 mod fun for as many WW1 flight sim enthusiasts as possible. It will certainly be flexible and modifyible and I will attempt to be in tune what the community flying it wants. I cannot please all of you all of the time but I can try! We have a great core team working on this mod. The one bottleneck at the moment is 2D artists. If I had skinners who were as excited as the rest of us about whats coming the new planes would be hitting the sim at a much faster rate. If you come check out the new mod and you have the ability to produce aircraft skins and would like to help out please be sure to contact me. With the help of the great 2D guys who are currently associated with Target:Rabaul , Target:Korea and Target:Hanoi we will slowly get skins on our WW1 kites. (someone else has hogged all the other WW1 skinners it seems) LOL Watch for the public release, come check us out www.targetware.net" So things sound pretty promising on the Targetware front! B)
  14. We have all been here: Base Pack News www.openplanesims.com seems to have suffered from a server-side failure and Moebius has made us this excellent site and forum to use in the mean time. This is where we all live for now! :)
  15. That's right! Scratch another FS-WWI aircraft off of the list that needs work! :D This latest and greatest Airco D.H.2 sports a new realistic cockpit, new remapped Lewis gun which can pitch up, remodeled and remapped fuse, new engine model, new pilot model and textures (Textures by Recon3) hi-res textures and a few code clean-ups and bug fixes. MUCH thanks to FlyXwire for all of the skinning work and reference material that went into this! You MUST have the latest FS-WWI On-line Standard for this download to work. Get it here: Airco D.H.2 Final Version 2.0 (8.26Mb) Enjoy! :)
  16. http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com/screenshots...creenshots.html FlyXwire showed me the link to this site and I must say I was VERY impressed by the modeling work done. Take a look! :)

  19. Wings Of Valor Closing

    Indeed sad news! :(
  20. So far, a few things have been happening! As you all know I've been working hard with many people to get most if not all of the current FS-WWI plane set up to par with one another. We've recently released the near final versions of the B.E.2c, Morane N, and Roland C.II. Currently FlyXwire and myself are working on getting the D.H.2 up to spec. The Final Albatros D.I should be comming soon aswell with a new fuse, new skin and many fixed things with shading and textures. I have also been working with the Zeppelin Dev team a bit to get FS-WWI a new Zeppelin. The team consists of Mossie (Our head modeler) Harman (Touch up modeler and OPS coder), WingChaps (Mission writer), Gypsy9 (Beta tester and skinner) and myself (Touch up modeler and OPS coder). Progress is a bit slow as this is a busy time of the year for us all, but hopefully we can get moving along again! So far I've got the basic gasbag mapped and in-game, along with the front gondola shell. That's about it on that front. Recon3 is of course VERY busy with skining all sorts of kites, a couple of which include the Bleriot XI and the Mos Bis! He is also working on a brand new German WWI kite for us to enjoy! And I am always busy helping anyone who needs it, be it with modeling or coding. Just the other day I touched up Mossie's new WWI Hangar object that Gypsy9 will be using for his new terrain. Ah yes the new WWI terrain!! This should prove a great step foward!! He has sent me the CD and I've just recieved it yesterday. Work on the terrain will progress once the D.I and the D.H.2 revamps are complete. Well that's about all for now. Like I say, just a tiny progress report on what's going on, on the WWI front of SDOE! :D
  21. FlyXWire has done us yet another great skin! This is a hi-res skin for the FS-WWI Plane Pack 3 Airco D.H.2 Please note that this skin aswell as some modifications to it will be used for the finalized FS-WWI Plane Pack 4 Airco D.H.2 Please read the readme for installation. Download here: Hi-res Airco D.H.2 Skin Please go here for pics: D.H.2 Skin Pics Enjoy! :)

  24. Red Baron X-box

    Not that I've heard!
  25. Posted by JoGunn at www.ww1sims.com: "It's time to start thinking about looking in on Target:Flanders once again. Parts of the sim are coming together very nicely and the future looks very good with things in the pipeline that are gonna knock your WW1 simming socks off. http://www.targetware.net open a free account during the open beta period. The latest update is up and ready for your inspection. So far it looks like we have room to add a lot more in the way of ground targets at the front and the battles between the Eindecker and the Gunbus are being tuned to give the EIII it's historical advantage. Planes are in the works to bring about the end of the Eindecker Scourge and level the playing field. What do you want from your WW1 sim? At Targetware the players have the power to mold the sim to whatever they want it to be."
