  1. Lots of cool new features and mods to purchase with this release! http://riseofflight.com/Blogs/default.aspx
  2. Rise of Flight v1.026 Released!

I think adding the weapons mods to co-op is a WIP.
  3. Rise of Flight v1.026 Released!

They might not work in co-op?
  4. Rise of Flight v1.026 Released!

Thus far, I've been having a blast online!
  5. FSW1 and Windows 7 64bit

Try reinstalling the All In One exe. It sounds like a main GUI file didn't get copied in. You don't need the original SDOE CD, so if you loaded that start over again from scratch. Also, try changing the install path to get it out of Program Files. Just try C:\FS-WW1 or something. I just tried this on a fresh Win 7 64-bit box and it works. Don't set any Compatibility setting, except Run as Admin.
  6. There is a 1.6.0.7 Beta Patch that adds 32bit rendering for newer graphics cards. Also, there are two aircraft and a Pioneers of Flight pack. They are under Other Downloads at www.fsww1.com
  7. Thanks! There are some single player "campaigns" that are under the Missions menu. They are not dynamic however, as that's a game engine limitation from the original Fighter Squadron game. :(
  8. Hello Dale57! Sorry I did not see this sooner. It has been a busy weekend for me. It sounds like you got FS-WWI up and running fairly well. Keep in mind it is a very old mod, based on an older game engine from 1999. You can press T to track an enemy aircraft, then F1 to be in the tracking view. You can then press F1 again to take you back to the normal cockpit view. Also, the [ and ] keys can zoom you in and out while in either view. For the throttle, I would suggest you take a look at the "Getting the Best" document here: http://www.fsww1.com/documentation/Tweaks.html It has general tweaks for the game, as well as Throttle help. If you have any more questions feel free to ask! I've been working on and playing with FS-WWI since the very early days. :)
  9. It's FINALLY here! Sorry for the very long delay, but real life happens, ya know? This is the very first release of a totally new Plane Pack for Fighter Squadron - World War One. As such, of course the contents within are considered Beta, and in an ever-changing state. Also, this release just includes the first 5 aircraft, with basic missions and ground units. In the future, we hope to offer more aircraft, varied ground units and even a new airfield designed for Pioneers of Flight. Download from here: Pioneers of Flight at ModDB Pioneers of Flight v1.0 for FS-WWI And now the readme: **Pioneers of Flight for FS-WWI** Install to your root 'Fighter Squadron' or 'FS-WWI' folder. Add-ons that are required/not required: You MUST have the latest FS-WWI Plane Pack installed for this add-on to function. Be sure to check out the individual readme files in the 'Fighter Squadron' or 'FS-WWI'\wwi_readme folder for credit information about all of the included add-ons. How to uninstall: A file called 'Uninstall PoF for FS-WWI' gets placed in your 'Fighter Squadron' or FS-WWI' folder when you install the Pioneers of Flight for FS-WWI mod. To uninstall, simply double-click this file and follow the instructions. What aircraft/lighter-than-air craft are included? The Early Dirigible The Eastbourne Monoplane The Farman III The La Mouche Monoplane The Santos Dumont 14bis What ground units included: Race Pylon, tweaked from the Ground Unit pack from WW2 SDOE. Barrage Balloon, tweaked from the Ground Unit pack from WW2 SDOE. Known Issues: -The Santos Dumont 14bis cannot be flown by the AI. Overall it is a very twitchy aircraft and requires much skill to handle. Please do not start it off in a mission with an altitude of over 2,000 feet. -At times, some missions with many of these aircraft will cause a CTD. I am still working on trying to find a solution to this problem. -6,000 feet is the max most of these aircraft can fly at. Some, much lower. Please do not start these aircraft mid-air above 5,500 feet. -The Early Dirigible is not actually lighter-than-air. That is a feature Fighter Squadron does not support. Be sure not to fly slower than 10-12 mph. If you find any other serious issues (Not cosmetic) than the ones above or the ones in the aircraft readme files, PLEASE report them to me via e-mail or the www.openplanesim.com forum. You can E-mail me at: ArgonV@AOL.com If you have any suggestions/comments/contributions you would like to add, also feel free to e-mail me! Notes: All the aircraft have been looked over by me personally. I did some "poetic licensing" so-to-speak. I would like to apologize in advance if I offended anyone by "tweaking" their work, but I assure you it was for the good of the whole pack and I believe you will like the results. Please look at each individual aircraft readme file for more specific information. Thanks to: -Lewis aka LesterBoffo who came to me with his wonderful work he wanted to see fly in Fighter Squadron. Without his dedication, skills and persistence none of this would be available! -I would like to thank my loving wife Shandy for putting up with the long hours I dedicate to this mod, as well as for her valuable input and support. -Recon3 for his outstanding skin work that I borrowed much from. Enjoy! -Lewis -ArgonV
  10. Thank you sir! :) I hope people are enjoying the mod.
  11. I'm actually quite flabbergasted that FS-WWI even got nominated for ModDB's FS-WWI Mod of the Year 2011! Please, vote for it if you don't already have something else in mind. For those of you who don't know what ModDB is, it's a great site that hosts tons of mods for all sorts of PC games. I've been having files hosted there for about two years now and it has really brought back some life to the mod. :D Check it out! http://www.moddb.com/mods/fighter-squadron-world-war-one And for those of you who have no idea what FS-WWI even is, visit the link above and check it out! It's a standalone, total conversion, WWI mod for Fighter Squadron: Screamin' Demons Over Europe (Released in 1999).
  12. Coming "soon" is a Pioneers of Flight Plane Pack for FS-WWI. It will include an early dirigible, Farman III, the 1912 Eastbourne, a powered La Mouche and the Santos-Dumont 14-bis. I hope to follow it up with more early-era aircraft from Lewis our builder, ground objects and polish in the comming year.

Hello gents! Thank you very very much for the kind words. I was alerted about this post over the weekend, but I was away on vacation for my wife and my birthdays. My iPhone won't allow me to log in! This post was a great birthday present! I only wish I could of done more for the WWI simming community sooner. I'm really glad the likes of OFF, First Eagles and Rise of Flight have come to be. Before, it was just RB3d and a sad WWI mod for CFS2... And of course FS-WWI. I've had a ton of help over the years with FS-WWI, without which it would not be what it is today. This might motivate me to get my butt in gear to crank out polishing up Lewis's pre-WWI kites!

If you don't have a very powerful PC, we recommend against enabling them. 4. For accurate performance comparison between 1.018 and 1.019, be sure to use the exact same settings. All new features should be switched off in 1.019. Objects visibility should be set at "50", forest visibility should not be greater than "Far" and sounds sources should not be greater than "64".
  17. The DFW is now player-controlled if you purchase it. They are working on getting the Breguet player-controlled as well (For purchase). Then they plan on working on a player-controlled Bris Fit and an R.E.8.
  18. Beta FS-WWI Patch Overview - 1.6.0.7 ======================== - Improved Opengl32 renderer to support full screen 32bits rendering (use UseTextureCompression=1 in sdemons.ini) - Shows 32-bit & 16-bit screen resolutions in Display option screen for D3D & OpenGL32 - Adds 16x9 & 16x10 screen resolutions to OpenGL32 renderer (Warning: if you choose a screen resolution not supported by your system, it will crash SDOE) This is a Beta FS-WWI 1.6.0.7 Patch release for testing. This is only for the OpenGL32 renderer and only for the FS-WW1 side of SDOE and NOT WW2. Right now, this patch is pretty much unsupported and not widely tested. To install this, I would make a copy-then-rename of your existing 1.6.0.6 Patch folder, and unzip the contents of this FSWW1_PATCH_1.6.0.7_PRE_RELEASE.zip into that. Also, be sure to add the line in the sdemons.ini file mentioned above after you've done the above. If you don't want to run the risk of screwing up your install of FS-WWI, DON'T install this. Download here: Beta FS-WWI 1.6.0.7 Patch Running this Beta Patch will make you not compatible on-line unless you are playing with people using this Beta Patch. Known bugs: -On some monitors, the highest widescreen resolution may not work and you will get a black screen and/or a game crash. Use the next lowest widescreen resolution in that same aspect ratio. -The Mission Editor cannot be full screened on large widescreen monitors without it crashing. Run it as a window. -With some mainly newer graphics cards, running triple buffering and taking a screen shot will freeze the game.
  19. IMO I think in order to do a review, it's best to have the facts straight. I think Jason was simply trying to set them straight.
  20. I too wasn't aware that one could get the e-mail associated with the account switched over at the request of 777 Studio support. I don't think it was that way until 777 Studios took over (Before you had to give up the e-mail if you gave/sold the game) and that was that. Good to know! Also, interesting to hear about that the dedicated "console" server software can be requested. However, I was never under the assumption anything less that a super beefy machine was needed to run it. ;)
  21. I own just about every WW1 sim under the sun. IMO as far as Rise of Flight goes: The graphics, sound, feeling of flight, damage model (However imperfect, nothing else comes close) engine management and on-line action cannot be beat. I just wish the campaign system was there, but a patch is coming soon to rectify that issue. My one last gripe, is the need to be connected to the internet constantly to play more than just "Flynow". Of course, FS-WWI is my brain child... So I will always have deep feelings of love for her the most. ;)
  22. Sadly, I've been out of the loop for a while here... Tending to real life things and lots of work, plus things to-do on my side of the simming world (SDOE/FS-WWI). So here's what I know! Rise of Flight: The next aircraft to be released will be the Gotha. Progress looks far along and the community is expecting a release "soon", probably a few weeks to a monthish away. After this, the next aircraft focused for being released will be the DFW C.V and Breguet 14. Also, this next Patch for Rise of Flight is expected to have the new campaign mode! This has all of us very very excited. Over Flanders Fields: Phase 4 is well underway with many new screenshots being posted almost weekly. Cockpits are being reworked, as well as the manager. It has also been stated that they want to focus on more early-war types and 2-seaters. Freeware hobbyist-developed ww1 game: This has probably been posted on other forums, but it was announced at SimHQ in the General WW1 sim section that a basic OpenGL based WW1 sim/game is being developed independently. For more details about this, see this thread at SimHQ: Freeware WW1 game thread at SimHQ SDOE's FS-WWI: While progress from myself has stalled, LesterBoffo from the Targetware side of the simming world has introduced many new pre-WW1 models and even some WW1 aircraft. He and I are planning a Pioneering Flight add-on to FS-WWI focusing on pre-WW1 aircraft and an airfield. Progress on this front can be seen here at Open Plane Sim: Pioneering Flight add-on at OpenPlaneSim.com Also on this front, I have been squashing a few bugs here and there, and plan on a Plane Pack 6 and/or Plane Pack 5 Patch 2 sometime late this next year/early 2012. Targetware Richthofen's Skies: Back in August Mossie announced that he was back and doing very detailed modeling for the Fokker series of aircraft (The E.III, D.VII and D.VIII). This will be for the "Targetware 2.0" engine, with no set release as far as I know at the moment. I do know it will feature a new rendering engine, much improved terrain and physics modeling, and support for newer DX features. Well that's about all I know! Any here care to chime in?
  23. FSW1 and Windows 7 64bit

    Hello! Get everything working ok?
  24. FSW1 and Windows 7 64bit

Yes indeed. I run it on Win 7 64-bit. Only issues might be color banding with newer graphics cards, but we are working on a fix for that and to add widescreen resolutions in OpenGL 32. The All-In-One can be had here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fighter-squadron-world-war-one/downloads/fs-wwi-plane-pack-5-all-in-one-exe-installer And that patch to that here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fighter-squadron-world-war-one/downloads/fs-wwi-plane-pack-5-patch-v10 You won't need the original SDOE CD. When the color banding fix and widescreen support patch comes out, we will do another All-In-One combining the above. :)
  25. Here it is FINALLY after nearly 8 years... Wakeup Tailgunner and I started this way back in the early beginnings of the FS-WWI mod. Soon other projects came and this was pushed on the back burner as at the time it was thought less important and the data required to finisher her off wasn't easily at hand. This aircraft requires the latest FS-WWI Plane Pack to function correctly. To Install: Extract to your SDOE\Media folder with the 'Use folder names' option in WinZip. Press X to lean over the side in the cockpit. Press F7 and then F6 to take control of the gunner's seat. Press 6, A then D to select, arm and to open the center boom full of bombs. Credits for this aircraft go to the following: 3d Model: Wakeup Tailgunner, tweaked by ArgonV Cockpit: ArgonV, textures by Recon3 Textures: Wakeup Tailgunner, ArgonV, damaged textures by 3dp OpenPlane Studio Code: ArgonV Missions: ArgonV GUI: ArgonV Download here: (6.81mb) Caproni Ca.42 Final Beta Enjoy! :)
