  1. Found bug where Ilya A floatplane's rear pontoon wasn't in the water.
  2. FS and WWI. My point of view

Hello Stratos! Check your PM in a bit for another issue. :) Thanks for the kind words, I hope I can address your issues: There is no Time Compression in SDOE or FS-WWI. It simply wasn't built into the simulation and I cannot add it in. The terrains are fairly small however and we try to design missions where the enemy is not too far away. For the enemy to show on the map, go to Options and General. Then look for the 'Show enemy aircraft on map' option and make sure it is lit. Also, during flight you can press Alt V. This will give you an indicator icon for the enemy aircraft. When you take over a gunner position, the AI takes over the pilot position and flys the aircraft for you. If the pilot AI seems to not be flying there is probably no waypoints set up for the aircraft. (Like in Hangar missions) The Taube has a front co-pilot with a revolver. When you get close enough to an enemy aircraft he will target and shoot. If he does not, take control of his position (F7 until you reach his position and then F6) and press the T button. Then go back to the pilot's position (F7) and take it over (F6). The front gunner should now target and shoot when you are in range. :)
  3. Found bug where D.H.4 (both) elevators would sometimes fall off on landing. Found bug where Sopwith Triplane's wing and aileron switchin lods were at too close of a distance. Found modeling error where D.H.4 (both) needs a pilot's windshield. Found bug where Brit D.H.4 needs to be distingushed from the U.S. D.H.4 in loadout.ppf file.
  4. In anticipation of the FS-WWI Plane Pack 5 Public Beta release, I've decided to give you guys a little treat for what's in-store. I hope you all enjoy these!
  5. Yup! A couple of posts below: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=28740
  6. Gr. Viper, thanks! I will see if I can do anything with that. :)
  7. Stratos, yes SDOE does have a mission editor that's not too bad at all. :)
  8. The terrain in FS-WWI is represented as Somme. It does have a WWI feel with front lines and WWI looking airfields. (It's not historically accurate) The aircraft cannot take off side-by-side however (They take off in a row) and there are no 3d trenches or barbed wire along the front. There are certain ground attack missions with barbed wire used around the enemy encampments, and there are ground soldiers and tanks you can shoot (They do not move however) The dogfighting is intense, you can man gunner positions, take off from water in float planes, drop hand-held bombs, fly massive bombers and go balloon busting amongst many other things. There are even Zeppelin attack missions at night with spot lights searching the sky. So I'd say FS-WWI is not perfect, but does pretty well for a 9+ year old game mod created totally by users and put up as a free download. :) The terrain and multiplay have always been the downside of FS-WWI and SDOE in general.. But you do get all of that with the 604mb file. There is a document link explaining what is included with the All-In-One installer on the same page as the Beta install instructions.
  9. Bombs do bounce in FS-WWI.. Sometimes they are duds and other times they just don't explode when they're supposed to. (Bad fuse) Remember to arm them though before you drop them. ;)
  10. You read that correctly! After years of development it is finally ready for public testing. I intend to have this up for at least a couple of months so users can get a chance to try it out and report back any bugs or errors they may find. Please, please download this and try it out. :) Information for downloading and installing FS-WWI Plane Pack 5 and all of the required files can be found here: FS-WWI Plane Pack 5 Public Beta Please report any bugs you find in the 'FS-WWI Plane Pack 5 Public Beta Bug Listing' post.
  11. Gr.Viper, that's an interesting mount! I would need up-close pics of how it works to model it. Our Avro is the K (Which is a later model) and used the Foster when it needed armament. Your Moska:
  12. RedBaron2 is now FREE!

Mate these updates are all very cool indeed! Keep 'em coming. :D I wish I had your skinning talent around still.. :) P.S. That last topic does not show for me.. :(
  13. Yes, you did read that correctly. All, and I mean ALL FS-WWI aircraft can now take off under AI control! The solution resided in the propElements, propMM and propPitch properties. Once I plugged in a custom tweaked set of propElements numbers and adjusted the rest (Including drag), the AI can now fly these kites properly on takeoff. This means that old and slow kites that have never been able to take off under AI control before now can! (Bleriot, Taube, Ilya V, and many many others that were underpowered) These aircraft fly within 5-10 mph of their recorded top speeds (Or right on the money in many cases) and still bleed energy and handle authentically. Campaigns and missions in which the AI need to get airborne now all work as they should. Another side-effect from this is that dogfights with the AI are more intense. The AI are now less likely to stall out and start "searching" for altitude. I've only got a few things in the works or needing to get done left for Plane Pack 5.. The Bristol Scout D (Which is nearly completed) and a skin for the Airco D.H.4 (Which has no one working on it right now). I also need to spell check all of the Training missions and Hangar aircraft descriptions. (Any help would be appriciated!) So the ETA for this update to be released could be a month or 6 months. All depends on if anyone is willing to skin the D.H.4. and how long it will take me to get through the spell checking. I'm starting to compile all of the files and getting them ready for the installer packages aswell.
  14. Hyperlobby still works, just takes some planning to get a on-line squad going.. So we can use that in the meantime. If you've got coders to decompile the code and edit it, I say we can have MMP anytime they can get that done! ;)
  15. Hello everybody! I've got a trip comming up in June, but once July rolls around I hope to get full swing back into SDOE FS-WWI. I've got a list still scratching at me that needs to get done in order for Plane Pack 5 to become a reality. Most is just polish, and one new aircraft to add to the mix: The Airco D.H.4 :D Here's what I got: Bristol Scout D revamp Fokker E.III cockpit Halb D.II cockpit Moska cockpit and hi-res skin Airco D.H.4 build and hi-res skin That is IT!!!! Once these things are completed I think it would be safe to call FS-WWI standardized and completed unless new matieral is added. It's been a long road for FS-WWI, but I think we can see the final destination now just over the next bend. :)
  16. Some FS-WWI things

There are some missions with larger amounts of aircraft in FS-WWI, but a lot of the furballing was done in the later part of the war. The great thing is, there's a mission editor so if you want to create a mission with 10+ aircraft in one fight it can be done. :) For the latest and greatest, please head to www.fsww1.com
  17. What sim should I buy?

I know a lot has been offered and said up to this point, and I agree with many of the suggestions. I am enjoying OFF Phase 2 immensely! It has great atmosphere and terrain detail. I would like to offer, if you have enough time one more sim: FS-WWI. It's a full conversion mod to the WW2 sim Fighter Squadron - Screamin' Demons Over Europe. While it is older in appearance than OFF or FE, it still has much to offer if terms of fun, realism and uniqueness. :) If you would like more info, please visit www.fsww1.com
  18. Some FS-WWI things

Thanks! The stick has been updated.
  19. This aircraft pack includes the recent cockpits and other small additions to the Fokker D.VIII, Fokker E.III and Halb D.II. You need to have the latest FS-WWI Standard installed for this update to work properly. Please read the included Readme file for installation instructions and additional notes. Much thanks to Recon3 for his texture and 3d model work Download here: German Aircraft Pack (15.6mb) Enjoy! Fokker D.VIII: Fokker E.III: Halb D.II:
  20. Some FS-WWI things

Just a bit of an update Gr.Viper: I did mount an upward firing Lewis on the Moska. Also, I made a makeshift cockpit to replace the old one. No cockpit data could be found, so this new one is made up like the old. It just looks tons better visually. :)
  21. Ah I gotcha. Yes this can be added for Plane Pack 5. :)
  22. Thanks for the feedback! With the Halb D.II, the site is the little pointed post when you zoom in. Or are you talking about the F9-F11 hotkeys?
  23. Some FS-WWI things

Thanks for the info! The Moska, along with a couple of other aircraft are in need of some serious reworking. They've just taken a back seat until I get some time or a modeler comes along and wants to revamp them. The Moska, Bristol Scout and Halb D.II are really incomplete additions to FS-WWI..
  24. Some FS-WWI things

Great! If you want to remove the WW2 nations you can go to where the game is installed and in the Media folder delete the parfiles 40-47 (They are named Data40.par and so on) Nothing in FS-WWI uses them.
  25. Some FS-WWI things

I believe the DVD has everything, but I have not looked at it personally as I did not put that together. Gr. Viper, do you have the WWI themed background and no WW2 aircraft in that install? If so, you might just try downloading the FS-WWI Nations Pack here: http://php2.phpwebservices.com/FS-WW1/FSWWI_Nations2.exe And reinstalling that over your current install. This should give you the Russia nation.
