I have CFS3, OFF and HitR all installed. 1) Firing up the campaign I go to the briefing room then click 'go to field'. I then get an 'OFF Message' saying 'populate airfield facility aircraft set up error' with an option to click 'OK'. When doing so the game loads and the mission runs ok, except for that after 5 missions I've encountered no enemies, but otherwise all runs fine. 2) After finishing the mission I go back to the briefing room for another, I get the same 'OFF Manager' error message as stated above, but when I get to the screen that says the game is Initializing, I get this error message....'Run time error '76' path not found, and an 'OK' button. This OK crashes to desk top. Any suggestions? I do have CFS3 and OFF set as Administrator. Thanks!

Although I got no replies I thought I would post the fact that by deleting everything then reinstalling everything.....the two problems went away. If anyone else has these issues...this is what worked for me.

I've been practicing this tactic but finding it difficult to coordinate the various components. I'm new to this flight sim genre so I'm using a $50 logitech extreme 3d pro joystick....without any other add on's like the Trackir I've been reading about. But I would think it should still be doable?

Hats off to OBD software!

OvS...just posted it on the wargamer.com forums under General Computer Gaming....title: Over Flanders Fields -
Excellent question JimAttrill...I'm a newbie as well and was unaware this tactic existed...I'm OFF (pun intended) to try it out now.

This is what happens to those poor chaps you shoot down

Dej....you stated it perfectly from my perspective. Having survived 10 missions with a fellow wingman named Gustav Hoffman (who, by the way, confirmed my first kill) I was saddened when he failed to return from the 11th. It was like I knew him, he was a friend. Immersion....just like Dej wrote. -

Slick: I've had a similar but different experience. I've been a hardcore pc wargamer for years but never bothered much with flight sims. I read about OFF in the Wargamer.com forums and decided to go outside my comfort zone and try it. This work of brilliance is all that I've been playing since. Matrix's American Civil War game "Forge of Freedom" has been sitting on my hard drive untouched because of OFF. I'm about to fire up OFF again right now......Onward and Upward!! -

What a great idea....starting a new campaign this way tomorrow. Thanks...!!! -
Interesting comparison of Rise of Flight and OFF to actors John Wayne and Clark Gable respectively.

Congratulations! Having played this for a solid week now I can appreciate your accomplishment. One question....is "Phase 3" the same thing as the retail version on the DVD I'm playing? -

What is your Fighter Pilot personality?

Being a flight sim and OFF newbie I have found this thread fascinating and enlightening. At this stage I am very cautious, I stay with my squad, I don't go off alone. To date I have about 6 hours of flight time (7 missions) but only one confirmed kill and that one I got by coming in from above and behind a Brit who was tailing a squadmate. Everyone talks about this trackir device, I'm not clear on what this is exactly other than for looking around. Is there a website for checking it out? -
Ok...thanks for all the help so far. A couple of distance questions: (I can handle snickering if these are stupid questions!! ) I started using the Labels(ctrl+shft+L) and it helps immensely. Are the distance numbers to another plane in feet, meter, yards and are they a measure of a straight line from plane to plane. In other words, if a plane was 1000 feet directly below or above me would it measure as 0 or 1000? I've been flying the Fokker EIII....the altitude gauge....is "2" 200 or 2000 and is it feet, meters, yards? Will the answer, whatever it is, be the same for American, Brits and French as well?

Distances...newbie questions again

Thanks olham....I hadn't notice the f5 key for toggling the HUD. Onward and Upward!! -
Back again with another newbie question. I've now flown 5 missions in a Fokker EIII (a single wing craft). I've survived them all playing as a low ranking squadmate, not the leader. Problem is....there is never any action...I suspect I'm missing something here? I follow the squad, go to all the way points with them, have my tac on....eventually return to base and land. The mission is logged as a success, but nothing ever happens, no enemy craft appear. In 3 of the 5 missions some enemy craft did appear at long range but they were headed away from us and impossible to catch up with. The time hasn't been totally wasted, I've learned how to take off, fly, land, etc, learned a lot of the command keys and such but the time has come to fight...!! Thanks.

campaign missions-newbie question
rayfer replied to rayfer's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks shredward....that was most enlightening because, to be honest, I know very little at all about this era of air war, or even WWI in general. This is the first flight sim I've ever seriously gotten into. Is there a definitive book on this subject for a newbie wanting to learn the history, planes, pilots, tactics, etc. of this air war era. -

campaign missions-newbie question
rayfer replied to rayfer's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes...seems to happen in a steep climb and my speed drops under 50.....but in spite of it all I got my first confirmed kill this afternoon. I was in a wild melee between five of us (German) against five Brits......and I survived to fight another day! Awesome game. -
campaign missions-newbie question
rayfer replied to rayfer's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I haven't had an experience quite like that yet...I'm working now on better understanding when/why stalls occur. I read in one of the forum threads about the advantages of a force feedback joystick, which I don't have.....regardless, I've learned that stalling at low altitudes can be fatal. -
campaign missions-newbie question
rayfer replied to rayfer's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks all for the replies....looks like it's the game and not something I was doing wrong or missing. And I get this feeling I may dread getting what I wished for! -
I'm new to this game and flight sims in general.....started my first campaign and got off the ground ok, circled the field, as instructed, to join my wing mates and headed out to the first waypoint. I decided to try the warp 'x' function and it worked, only when I arrived my wing mates were nowhere to be seen. Did I do something wrong or is not advisable to use warp to waypoint in a campaign?

Thanks for the replies.....I found that 'tips and cheats' thread you referred to...it is most helpful, as is a single page printable list of hot keys, commands, etc. I alos found in the forums. Together they are helping alot. I went back out again and pounced (at least that was my initial impression) on the rear of a German (I was playing American) plane only to learn the hard way it was a two seater with a rear machine gun (I don't know the names/types of planes yet) and proceeded to go down hard, surviving the crash to fight again another day.
