F/A-18 Series By The Hornet Team (BETA!)
Fofo3 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Downloaded the twin-seat Bug pack as well. Excellent work, again - I really love the artwork on that VMFA-242 CAG jet! Also, thanks for the drop tanks - I had changed the data files on a couple of the jets before I DL'd the pack. You guys made things easier for me, again. Oh, and that low-altitude vapor/air compression effect near Mach 1 looks awesome -, just saw it when I was chasing a pair of Fulcrums a few minutes ago! -

Understood Dave - I just wasn't sure if things were left-out by accident, or by design. Like I said, it's an awesome pack - and thanks for your hard work, and the rest of the team! -

Really cool, I enjoy having a full complement of Hornets from various services in my game now! Just one thing though, I know it's a Beta - but a few things are missing? Some of the skins have no markings, I cannot find any fuel tanks and the LAU-10 launchers have no rockets? I just re-downloaded the file, but have the same thing? It's a great pack, regardless and I'm certainly enjoying it. -

SF2 F-111B "Dominator"

Definitely an interesting and cool add-on! And yeah, it is a pretty handy bomber, too. It performs well - how I imagine the real F-111B would have. Let's just say - the Tomcat was the right choice... I do not believe it's able to recover from a flat spin, though. If you do the same as in the F-4 (idle power, reverse rudder in the direction of spin) she stabilizes. But, once you slowly re-apply power and begin to exit the spin, it flips onto it's back and you have to eject ASAP. -

Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots
Fofo3 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
High over the Atlantic at 0230 hrs. Pitch-black, windy and foggy, too. We were flying with radars off, and no ECM, with only by the vectors from a Hawkeye, leading us to a flight of MiG-29's some 5000 ft above us. The MiG's were escorting a pair of Fencers, who in-turn were en-route to attack a friendly destroyer. I decided to hide in this 3000 ft or so thick patch of clouds and ambush the Fulcrums with AIM-9M's. About three minutes after I took this screenie - I turned-off my nav lights, went to Heat and my wingman and I caught the flight completely off-guard, with two shots and two kills each. I then finished-off both Fencers that tried to light-up with afterburners and flee, some five miles ahead with a pair of Phoenixes. As for the second pic? Well, just another uneventful recce run on a land target. I kinda got a little lazy and misjudged my approach back to the Kitty Hawk. Needless to say - wave off and full afterburner! I waved-off safely and landed correctly on my second attempt. -
Sidewinder high aspect shot: warhead effectiveness or lack thereof
Fofo3 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I have been noticing the exact same issue with the AIM-9 for a while. It doesn't matter what version either - a D, H or M. One minute, I can't even damage a very near-miss on the tailpipe of a MiG-21, the next - I can blast the wing clean-off a Blinder and shred half the fuselage. No sort of messing-around with the weapons editor has fixed this for me. Maybe I'll put a 100 pound incendiary warhead and see what happens. Someone contact Raytheon and let them know their product is all over the place. I personally, would like replacement A-7E, F-4E and an F-14B due to thier QA issues. -
Given it's less than stellar safety record, as well as it's age, I say it's past due. Too many men died flying a Fishbed. Still, I admit to being a little surprised to hear the Bison will be leaving service when it is. Quite a bit of time, resources and funds were poured into making it the aircraft what is probably the most modern and deadliest of the Fishbeds. (Aerostar's LanceR may have this honour, I am not certain...)

Have Glass. The USAF and a number of export customers had their Vipers given this RCS reduction paint. And the pics posted definitely look like it's HG, IMO. If you look around in publications like Air Forces Monthly and Combat Aircraft, you will find a few images here and there of Have Glass painted Vipers, and the top paint fading away. Definitely an interesting result of a blend of shiny and matte grays in a patchwork on the jet. Of course, no two aircraft exhibit the exact same wear, making it even more cool. These are the first pics I have seen of an F-16 flying around, with only Have Glass. It looks real cool! A quick entry about Have Glass from Scramble.NL's F-16 entry page... http://wiki.scramble...lcon#Have_Glass

F-15C questions, especialy Israeli ones
Fofo3 replied to squid's topic in Military and General Aviation
From the publications I have read, no - the F-15C does not use nor carry any targeting pods. The Israelis however, may have modified their aircraft for carriage. I have not seen any photos of one doing so, though. If they do in-fact carry a pod, my bet is it's either a Litening III or LANTRIN.
