  1. The Su-25 debuted with NATO Fighters 4+ for the SF2 series. If you have SF2E, get NF4+ to get the Grach. To get it to work in the SFP1/WoX series, you'll need to download NF4+ (you only need one part, but I forget what part its in), then extract the Su-25 folder and add the following download to it: http://forum.combata...&showfile=10529 It's flyable and had a full cockpit. It's a fun little mud-mover.
  2. In SF2, you can order only your wingman to attack a specific target, and that's whichever one you have visually padlocked. You have no control over what your other wingmen attack, unfortunalty. This isn't a problem in a target-poor environment (i.e. a handful of ships) or with A2A, when they are actually more effective than your wingman (they'll actually do BVR missile shots; your wingman can't do anything unless he's attacked or you get WVR because he's limited to "Attack My [WVR] Target" or "Cover Me"). When you are in an A2G target-rich environment, you can try to increase the chances of your other elements attacking your primary targets by getting really close (try 3.5nm) to what you want attacked before ordering them to attack ground targets. Wingmen AI prioritize SAMs/AAA that are attacking them, so keep that in mind. When they start wandering off, call them back to formation, then try ordering them to attack ground targets again. There usually aren't so many primary targets that you and your wingman can't take them out by yourselves, so you have that going for you. Picking the right weapons and being an accurate bomber will take you far.
  3. Been a while since I've posted here. I just started getting back into the SF2 series and I'm in the midst of an NF4+ campaign in the Tornado F.3. Awesome mod. I've also begun converting WoX/SFP1 SAMs and AAA for Blue air. I know some people have already done this but I'm hoping to get in contact with their creators and maybe release them on the download section with their permission for SF2. The changes are mostly .ini tweaks and TEWS RWR symbols, though I am almost trying my hand at skinning (I'm a n00b with GIMP so don't expect any masterpieces!). I promise to look at the Knowledge Base before I go asking any stupid questions! Glad to be back and thanks in advance.
  4. I got blindsided with a ton of crap just about when I stopped posting, so I had no time to play. All that's been resolved now. I've been lurking for about a week before I started posting again,so I could get myself back up to speed. I'm not sure if I'll be regularly contributing but I wanted to poke my head in and say I'm still around, and hopefully I can contribute something.
  5. This is about the closest explaination I can find on how ENB works: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,668456/...new-games/News/
  6. I'll definetly have to give this a try. My FPS tends to chug when there are a lot of objects (like city buildings in SF2E) or effects in one place.
  7. MIG-21

So, you guys want to get a pool started?
  8. I never played any of the first-gen TW games. I only recently discovered the TW series and since I have Vista on my computer, I went with SF2/V/E by default. I'm really liking these games. The newest flight sim I owned until I got SF2 was Jane's F/A-18, so it was nice to get back into the saddle (ejector seat?) with a more realistic sim.
  9. That sort of thing happened to me a lot when I first started using the Thud in the SF2 Merc campaign. It drops like a stone when fully loaded and flying anywhere below 300kt. Made rocket and strafing runs interesting, that's for sure.
  10. Your family rig

Nice Charger! There's a right way to do one, and a wrong way. Your's is definetly right. Here are some pics of my "family rig" killing some cones:
  11. I think it would be like stepping into the Holodeck of the Enterprise!
  12. Hmm... this thread is relevant to my interests... I fell in love with the Crusader when I bought an issue of Combat Aircraft magazine that covered the F-8's retirement from the French Navy. The cat officer was signaling with a sabre, so I knew it was a special plane. I was especially impressed with the article's illustrious list of aircraft the F-8 has downed in mock dogfights, including the F-4, F-5, Mirage III, Mirage F1, and F-14 (!). I'm in the middle of the late 50's/early 60's Merc desert campaign in an SF2/V/E merged install (the one that starts you off with the Hun). I bought a Thud first since I'm a lousy mud-mover and the Hun doesn't carry many bombs, but once the F-8E became available I bought it right away. It's all I fly now in the campaign, since it has a useful payload and good range even though it can't carry drop tanks. The Hun flies well but has too small a payload/fuel load for me while the Thud turns like a truck until you've used up your A2G ordinance. My proudest moment was during a CAS mission where I bombed two tanks; shot down an attacking Hunter with a 'winder; plinked another tank; bagged another Hunter (AIM-9), a MiG-17 (guns), and two MiG-21s (one AIM-9, one guns)... and still had enough fuel to get home. I know the real Crusader had some evil handling tendacies and high accident rates, but I'm still very impressed with it.
  13. First Soviet Jet bombers?

According to Wiki (which we all know is never wrong ), the first Soviet jet bomber built was the Ilyushin Il-22 prototype bomber in 1947, which never entered production: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-22 The Il-28 looks like the first to enter regular service with the Soviets.
  14. +1. My laptop came with Vista, and it's a PITA. I can tolerate it because my laptop is beefy enough to handle Vista and downgrading to XP with Windows 7 on the way makes no sense (plus reinstalling drivers can also be a PITA). Microsoft has a Windows 7 Release Candidate if you want to try it before you buy it, and SF2/V/E runs fine on it: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx
  15. I've added some aircraft/cockpits originally intended for WOx/SF1 to my SF2 install like TMF's Mirage IIIC and Marcfighter's Su-27. They are missing textures. I know I need to get the missing textures from object.cat files from the earlier games, but I don't own any pre-SF2 TW games. Are the object.cat files available in the Downloads section? If they are, I can't seem to find them. Apologies for the n00b question, but I can't find an answer via search.
  16. Unfortunatly, my financial situation prevents me from spending any more on games for a while. I may wait for NF4+. If the plane list is the same as in NF4, then they will probably have the missing textures updated.
  17. Ok. I'll look no further then. Thank you for your reply.
  18. Has anyone tried using a WOx/SF/SF2x game on Windows 7? I just downloaded the release candidate and plan on installing Win7 RC and a merged SF2/V/E install on a separate partition on my laptop. IIRC, most Vista-compatible programs run better on Win7 than on Vista because it uses fewer resources, but there are some programs that don't work right.
  19. New Japan's weapon assembled in Tokyo

It would be even cooler if it worked... and went on a Godzilla-like rampage. "It's Gundam, RUN!!!!!"
  20. They work, on stock planes at least. Ctrl+L cycles through them.
  21. Lets go Fishing...

I saw that on Yahoo. My favorite part is that he kept it on ice for 10 days before alerting anyone! Must've made a big BOOM when the bomb squad disposed of it.
  22. Iran new helo

They already have, with the F-5 as the victim starting point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azarakhsh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saeqeh_(warplane) Iran has also tried to reverse-engineer the HAWK SAM into a Phoenix replacement for their Tomcats, but IDK if they've succeded or not.
  23. Nothing funnier than pwning someone in a pastel green fighter with a cutsey anime girl on it.
