There is a known issue with the un-modded cfs3 with a slight stuttering when over airfields. This does not usually last that long though. Could it be that? If so there is nothing to worry about. It usually clears itself.

I would like a go a multiplayer sometime (I am in the UK). But I have had the game less than a week and I bite-wind at the moment. I'll get some practice in and join you soon.

Whoo-hoo. Last night I finally ordered OFF. Can't wait. My postman is going to be so harassed for the next 2-3 weeks. lol. Been tracking the £-$ for ages and got a great price. Some analysts (the good ones) say the £-$ might get a bit better in the short term, but in the long term the £ looks like toast. (They expect the UK to go cap in hand to the IMF anytime within the next year.) For those in the UK who have been tracking like me, my final paying price was £28.36 including all taxes etc. On the rare occasions I do buy triple-A games I pay about £25 you have got to admit that is a great price, especially for something as cool as OFF. I got a £1=$1.63, but be aware that the sellar is using a average European VAT rate of 19% and not the UK's present VAT rate of 15%. So can't wait. Going to start downloading the updates. Oh, and by-the way. I am going to get a clean install of CFS3, so does anyone know how to uninstall MAW? I can't see it in my uninstall programs thingy.

Hi, I was going to get a clean install ready for OFF, but am unsure how to uninstall MAW. Any ideas - it does not appear in my unistall programs list. -

I would like to get the hard disk space back. -
Thanks for the kind hellos. What's the OFF map?

The £-$ is going in my direction, so just a few last minute checks before i buy. I don't want to double up on postage, so just checking there are no physical add-ons in the pipeline which would require extra postage.

Uncleal: I have never understood VAT. It's predominantly a tax on poor people. It also makes the company like the OFF team an unpaid tax collector. It seems a bit morally unjustifiable. I bet you didn't know they are on the verge of a £6 a year broadband tax in the UK. What happened to the old concept of a tax policy that asked if the person being taxed can actually afford it? OlHam: I agree, from what i have seen and read on this forum OFF is worth a lot more than the price being asked. But in my case when OFF was first released I had to reluctantly accept it was out of my price range. (It was about £50, twice the price of a brand-new triple-AAA game.) I really did not think I was going to be able to get it. Up until a few days ago OFF had lost me a customer even though they had captured my interest during the making of Phase 3. I guess pricing has to be a compramise between the true value of the product and the affordability so enough customers buy it and make the company a good profit. In a way that goes back to my earlier post where Mongoose Publishing were pricing their books according to the country it was being sold in. Pricing is a really tough call for a company, especially small run companies like OFF and Mongoose. Charge too much and not enough people buy it. Charge too little and you don't make enough profit on each unit to justify your hard work.

I am really happy the price has come down to $29.99. In the US $50 is a good moderate price but due to the silly currency fluctuations in the past year this translated to a very expensive game when priced in £UK. I did not think I would be able to afford OFF. In the UK, new triple-AAA games when first released are officially about £35. However walk in a shop like PC-World and you can pick up a new release for about £25. The new $30+P&P+VAT for OFF translates to about the £25 pound mark. TIP FOR THE OFF TEAM: A friend of mine works for a book company called Mongoose. They cross sell in the USA and the UK. The have TWO different price schemes for both countries. They completely ignore currency activity. When they set the price in the USA they ask the question, what would people in the USA normally pay for this type of product and price it accordingly. Then they ignore what they charge in the USA and ask what a UK person would pay, and price the UK release according to that price structure. From what he tells me this is STANDARD across all industries, even software industries. Take a look. Their website: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/ See what happens when you choose currency. These are the same prices for each country even when the exchange rate was $2 = £1. You get price stability.

Hi, I have just bought CFS3 ready to buy OFF. (Thanks for putting the price down to $29.99 - this makes it a typical triple-AAA software price once tax and P&P is put on for the UK.) The trouble is, I am having real difficulty flying the WWII planes. I don't want to purchase OFF if I am going to have a similar problem with that. I want my flight model at a minimum of medium difficulty so I can do some of the fancy stuff like stall-turns. My problems. Landing: I am at about a 50% success rate. I am having difficulty spotting the runway, too far away, so am having to make major adjustments too close to touchdown. This added to my flight difficulties (detailed below) makes for a very frustrating game. Flight: Some of the WW2 planes need serious rudder just to keep the plane straight on take-off. Fair enough. But once airborne the plane becomes uncontrollable. Instead of concentrating on combat, I am trying to keep my plane in a vague direction of the enemy. Sometimes I am on a levelish attack but turning with airlion and a bit of rudder, and then flip and have to get out of a stall. I don't feel i am fighting the enemy, I seem to be fighting my own plane. I need to eat copious amounts of raw coffee just to be hyper enough to react to the erratic activities of my plane. Does this happen in OFF? (One note - In one scenario in MAW I am flying a bi-plane and dont seem to have any problem controlling my plane at all. I can even land on a postage stamp. Although I can't find how to turn off my engine - anyone know?) So my questions are, does anyone else have these problems in the WW2 CFS3 or is that just me? (I think my German plane was a BF??? something-or-other and my english plane a typhoon.) Does this erratic flight model happen in OFF? (My flight sim experience up to now was Red Baron for the early PC. I did not have any of these problems before.) Also, in an OFF campaign do you choose missions like CFS3 or are they assigned like RB. (I think the latter is more realistic.) Yours with confusion and coffee withdrawl, JAA PS. My joystick is less than a month old and in perfect working order on every other game I own. Its a Logitech Extreme 3D pro.

Thanks for your tips. I don't mind the combat being hard, in fact that is one of the things I like about what I have heard about OFF compared to others. I want this to be the closest thing to the real thing. I want a kill to be earned not expected. I want to be REALLY p*ssed of when my claim is rejected (ala George Peppard in Blue Max). When the latter happens I want to be in a mood for a few days. But at the same time I want a level playing field. When the enemy is turning and controlling his plane like a Pro to avoid my fire, I want to have the same control over my plane. I don't want to be fighting my plane to do simple airlion-rudder turns. I want to be able to land my plane with a near 100% chance like in RB. I dont want to shut off any realism either so I cant do pro moves like stall-turns. From what you have said it seems ok. I cant afford TrackIR but that is ok as I am ok with my joystick's hat-switch. Compare to my old RB days this is a luxury. Also, good news about the RB style missions. CFS3's choice of mission was a bit stupid. Oh, today I will go on a chocolate Hob-Nob eating mission!!! Another question. In CFS3 I am some lowly private but am team leader telling all the pros what to do. (Also I appear to be directing the land war??????) WTF. Does this happen in OFF? It's very annoying. JAA
