Hi,
I have just bought CFS3 ready to buy OFF. (Thanks for putting the price down to $29.99 - this makes it a typical triple-AAA software price once tax and P&P is put on for the UK.)
The trouble is, I am having real difficulty flying the WWII planes. I don't want to purchase OFF if I am going to have a similar problem with that. I want my flight model at a minimum of medium difficulty so I can do some of the fancy stuff like stall-turns.
My problems.
Landing: I am at about a 50% success rate. I am having difficulty spotting the runway, too far away, so am having to make major adjustments too close to touchdown. This added to my flight difficulties (detailed below) makes for a very frustrating game.
Flight: Some of the WW2 planes need serious rudder just to keep the plane straight on take-off. Fair enough. But once airborne the plane becomes uncontrollable. Instead of concentrating on combat, I am trying to keep my plane in a vague direction of the enemy.
Sometimes I am on a levelish attack but turning with airlion and a bit of rudder, and then flip and have to get out of a stall. I don't feel i am fighting the enemy, I seem to be fighting my own plane.
I need to eat copious amounts of raw coffee just to be hyper enough to react to the erratic activities of my plane.
Does this happen in OFF?
(One note - In one scenario in MAW I am flying a bi-plane and dont seem to have any problem controlling my plane at all. I can even land on a postage stamp. Although I can't find how to turn off my engine - anyone know?)
So my questions are, does anyone else have these problems in the WW2 CFS3 or is that just me? (I think my German plane was a BF??? something-or-other and my english plane a typhoon.)
Does this erratic flight model happen in OFF? (My flight sim experience up to now was Red Baron for the early PC. I did not have any of these problems before.)
Also, in an OFF campaign do you choose missions like CFS3 or are they assigned like RB. (I think the latter is more realistic.)
Yours with confusion and coffee withdrawl,
JAA
PS. My joystick is less than a month old and in perfect working order on every other game I own. Its a Logitech Extreme 3D pro.
