  1. - You've been hit! Eject, eject!!! You're in flames! - Negative. I'm not going to jump before I reach the beach. That's what I call a brave AI Soviet Pilot.
  2. Hi Guys! My question is probably merely theoretical... however... Right now I'm having fun flying the F-5E in the Navy Aggressor liveries of the VF-43 and VFC-13 and chasing some red star form the sky. As I like to have a realistic Loadout.ini file for this bird, I am wondering: - did the Navy F-5E aggressors use the Air Force AIM-9J Sidewinder (for launch rail compatibility sake) or rather the own Navy's AIM-9G? Everyone's opinion is welcome. Danilo
  3. For what I read (good old fashioned book reading ) there was some incompatibility issues. You're right in saying the missile fits on any rail, but there were differences in wiring and coolant supply between the AIM-9B/E/J and the AIM-9D/G that made the two versions incompatible. Back then in the Vietnam War some USAF Generals really had loved to use the Navy's AIM-9D, but they found out it was technically impossible. So they had to stick to the AIM-4D 'till they developed the -9E, which nevertheless was still worse than the -9D. The -9D in fact still had better proximity fuse and better booster rocket. Nevertheless I'm also not pretending I know a lot... that's why I ask here.
  4. Me likes this classic shot: looks like that shark has just bitten the fresco on the bum (owing to the good old M61 gun)
  5. Well I tell you, I really loved to be accredited with this MiG-Kill, as to me it seems pretty unlikely he could find his way back home without falling from the sky, after an AIM-9G hit and 3 Rounds of my Crusader's Mk12 20mm in the tail... somehow kind of unrealistic, I feel... (flown with WoV) So it seems like the damage model in the SF2 series could be a bit better than before. May be a reason to finally buy the new game...
  6. Just want to add my humbly two cent to this discussion: right now I'm reading the book: "Clashes, Air Combat over North Vietnam 1965-1972". Referring to the engaments of the F105Ds against the MiG-17s, they report a lot of complaining from the Air Force pilots about the gun sight. It was a Gyro sight, and was obviously set to air-to-ground for default. Unfortunately it took a lot of precious time for switching it to air-to-air, needing 5 (five) switches to be toggled in the right sequence... So they mostly just fired with a wrong gunsight... many of the Mig kills was achieved this way Danilo
  7. I'd be very surprised, if you won't find the answer in this tutorial: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5092
  8. This will give good shots of the enemy air base! Ah! RF-101C in the Sun Run 3 livery of 1957
  9. That's what a 23mm gun can do to your tail... Believe it or not, I got it safely back home (well... at least the rest of her). Mission Control could also not believe it, and said in the mission debriefing, I was shot down and killed in action!!!??? (WoV Oct2008)
  10. Hi Guys! I'm pretty new to the Third Wire Combat simulation series, as I bought SFOP1 and then WoV just very few weeks ago. Now there is an issue, which is really bothering me… and now after many hours spent in vain on the search in the Forum, I really have to ask you veterans: When I try "Single Mission --> create a mission" in VoW, I can select whichever year I want, but I can't change the date, being fixed at 1st January! Now that's not a big issue as long as you don't use the wonderful add-on terrain DBS Bering Strait by Mr. Wrench… in which case it simply means you will never ever see the sunlight in single mission As with this game you can change virtually anything, I'm sure I'm missing something here… Any suggestion? Many thanks! Danilo
  11. I've finally found a resolution. I just virtually started a campaign "create campaign / accept" (never did it before till now) and then went back to single mission. Now the calendar in the mission generator has also begun to run. So far I could play missions up to january 30th
  12. Ah ah... good point... well, now it is Anyway this didn't change the behaviour of the Single Mission generator in game. Whatever...
  13. Hmmm... it seems to be a not unusual problem then... well, at least I know there is nothing wrong with me. Though still wondering why it seems to work on someone's PC. I'm currently using Le Missionneur. Do you prefer the KDM?
