  7. File Name: Yak-23 "Flora" File Submitter: paulopanz File Submitted: 24 November 2013 File Category: Yak-23 The Yak-23 was developed as a simple lightweight jet fighter, on Yakovlev's own initiative. It was a development of the earlier Yak-15 and Yak-17 fighters, retaining their non-conventional layout with a jet engine in the fuselage nose and exhaust under the cockpit, but the construction was all new. Its wings were derived from the Yak-19. The Yak-23 used a Soviet copy of the British Rolls-Royce Derwent V turbojet engine, produced as the Klimov RD-500. It first flew on July 8, 1947. After successful flights, it underwent state trials in 1948 and was accepted for series production. It was evaluated as highly maneuverable, with a good acceleration and take-off and climb capabilities thanks to high thrust-to-weight ratio. Faults were poor directional stability at speeds around Mach 0.86 and lack of cockpit pressurization. Despite being one of the best straight-wing jet fighters, it was inferior to new swept-wing designs. A mod to enhance (more) our SF-2 immersion, to use mostly in our custom campaigns. Decals, Skins, Userlists, Data.ini, Cockpits and Planes tailored for Nam use. In fact I was bored of all that Charlies with all the same serial numbers for every plane model … So I took the real numbers and made the correct serial for EVERY known VPAF plane. Now randomized. You’ll find the Ace’s name who flown each aircraft, if known, beside his number, too. I worked on the userlists to allow the program to use in VietnamSea theatre a VPAF and not a Soviet Skin. Kill marks added. This new version add several planes (see list below) and brand new / skins. Each model has canopy animation enabled and dedicated sound. Pilots, weapons included. A new main screen and an old (but good) icon inside. This mod is set to work on a full merged vanilla install or on a SF2V Eburger68 great enhanced install, but the “real” J-5A “Fresco-D” added in this pack needs to delete his previous J-5A and J-5 folder and edit all campaigns (see optional folder). These are models You have (with part 2 of True VPAF): Mig-15 UTI VPAF (1 Skins 16 numbers), Cambodia (1 Skin 2 numbers), PLAAF (2 Skin 12 numbers). Stary's Pit. 18. V. 1.1 uploaded. Now the leafs and the Union Jacks (of the original skins too) are right in place.
  19. I prayed Blackfly to share the almost finished model he has .... but no way: this was a project for Canadians, made for Canadians, that only Canadians could finish up! I realy can'y understand him. At his site a plenty of unfinished (Canadian) items lost ..... So we need another modder to do the job. Maybe not from Canada! But we need a CF-100!
