Hello All,
I have recently got back into playing Strike Fighters 2.
As the first part of my experience, I want to play and Complete all of the stock campaigns.
The first campaign is in the Desert Map. I have downloaded and successfully installed desert 1.3 (A Revamped version of the stock map)
However, In game it appears as a different map.
I wondered if it was possible to replace the stock game map with this one, so I can play all of the standard desert campaigns with this map.
Thanks,
Jack

Hmmm.... I can get to: user/savedgames/thirdwire/strikefighters2/ but there are no terrain folders inside. Very strange! Maybe I should create them, if so what should I call them?
edit: by default the /Terrains folded does NOT exist, and it has to plural ... ie: Terrains
Ah thank you!!! What do I name the folders inside that? For instance is GermanyCE acceptable?

Thank You Very Much Sir!!

Hello All!
I am not sure if this is is the right place to ask this, so apologies for that.
I have downloaded and am trying to mod quite a few of my stock terrains for a more immersive campaign experience.
I have Strike Fighters 2, installed in the correct order all the way up to expansion 1, 2 and North Atlantic.
All the terrain downloads give me instructions to place in the existing folders, and overwrite.
However when I go into Program Files/ Thirdwire/ Strike Fighters 2/ Terrains
All terrains are there, however they are not folders, they are "Security Catalogs and I can't open them!
Can someone help me please! Have I done anything wrong? Everything is as it should be!
Thanks Alot for any Replies!
Jack :)

Jack, in the file you posted all heightmapscales are set to 50. Give it a try to reduce all heightmapscale values to 0 and then test it again. Perhaps it will work.
Do you see the airfield from high altitutes? Or are the airfields always invisible. If you see the airfields from the high and they disappear if you come close or low, then the heightmapscale setting is the reason for the problem. If you never see airfields you must set a correct link to the .cat file.
Nope. Not working still. I think I am going to have to call it a day. Thanks for all your help guys! I will try again in a few months when I get my new Alpine Computer.
See you then,
Jack

you won't find airfields in the data.ini; that only has the 'terrain' info (what tiles, height field information, etc)
you'll be looking in the _targets.ini.
If you're using my slightly upgraded verision
http://combatace.com...y-fng2k-edward/
even with the 'euro_ww2_****airfield.ini, it should still work. mine always did, pointing to desert or germany cats
be advised, that that terrain (to not to put too fine a point on it), has serious issues
That's the one that I have, after clicking the link on how to make an install on that page, could the fact that I have WoV and not WoE be the problem?

Now it depends on the terrain. In my Deutschland terrain, for instance the tiles which are used as basich for airfields are called Feldflugplatz (in other terrains it are different tiles).
If you open the deutschland_data.ini you find following lines:
[Texture036]
Filename=Feldflugplatz.BMP
HasWater=0
HeightMap=Feldflugplatz_hm.BMP
HeightMapScale=0.000000
Color=0.295611,0.372053,0.179665
SolidObjectTexture=terobject_buildings1.BMP
AlphaObjectTexture=terobject_trees1.TGA
Important is the line HeightMapScale=0.00000
if there is a value bigger than 0.0 then reduce it to 0.0
I have attached the "EuroWW2_Data.ini" I cannot see an airfield tile, would you mind taking a look?
-
1) wrong terrain cat reference pointer
2) missing airfield from the terrain cat referenced
3) missing airfield data ini from terrain cat referenced
Ok thanks, I'm kind of a newbie at this on SFP1, so how do I check up on these things. By the way, I am trying to fix the problem on Euro WW2 map.

are the airfileds invisible or situated under the ground level?
Under ground level, I believe.

Hi All,
Someone told me how to solve this problem before, but I forgot how I did it.
I am running SFP1 on Windows 7 due to the fact that there is more mods, and performance is still perfect,so that is not an issue.
However when I install a modded map (Korea, Euro WWII) and fly, everything is perfect, except the airfields. There are objects the ground layer (Taxiways, Runways) is not there, and you can see the default scenery tiles instead.
From what I remember I need to add, or remove some text from a config file.
Help would be appreciated,
Regards,
Jack

Hey all..
I know there are some great maps and Campaigns for the strike fighters series involving the Vietnam Conflict.. however would I be able to get a fully functioning Vietnam install on WoE or do I have to buy WoV?
Thanks.

Hey all..
I absolutely love the Falklands 1982 mod.. but whenever I finish a mission and press esc.. it crashes to desktop and doesn't save.. I even reassigned the key (lol) but it didn't make any difference!

Hi all,
Just got wings over Israel last night. I installed it did a quick combat and it worked perfectly. Today I started it up and did a campaign, for one reason or another I had to minimize it and it crashed. Since then every time I run it I just get a black screen. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it has no effect. I am running vista. (Compatibility modes don't have an effect). Maybe there is some sort of save game file within my my documents or something. I made sure there was nothing left in my Thirdwire program files folder before reinstalling. Can anyone shed some light on this??
Thanks,
Jack

NoneNot implemented
However, there's an old mod around here somewhere's that 'creates' the bombadier's view -- it DOES however, sort of mess with the standard views.
Bombers are best left as AI flights.

I wouldn't worry about it, the b-24 has a b-17 panel anyway, where can I find this mod (What is it called),
