SF2: North Atlantic product page up!
ToS replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
MATS yes, reality no e.g., notice the vertical sets of warning lights on both sides of the front shield frames (below the Stall warning lights).... especially the lack of the RWR lights is impratical -
SF2: North Atlantic product page up!
ToS replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
... yepp, AFAIK BRST is the Boresight-Mode and has nothing to do with multiple targets the whole pit seems a bit *unfinished* to me - left and right waring lights on the front frames are missing (means no SAM, AI or EW warning as well as no indicator lights for Nose wheel steering and other systems)and it´s shure odd to shoot with the Master Arm switch in the OFF position (no ARM light either). But hey, the steering T and target range indicator look promising -
Boy, I´m really tired of your “argumentation” For the last time: this is not about climate change (and whatever problem you have with it) You impertinently stated that the increased extinction rate is a “fantasy” produced by “corrupt scientists” to achieve.....yeah, what was that again? Do you really think you can infamize science which such disrespectful ignorance just because the results don´t fit your humble point of view?? It´s completely pointless to start any fact-based “discussion” with you since you don´t respect facts, other than the few ones that support your case (in that respect you are in perfect company with the intelligent design/creationism crowd). I offered you a link to a source of many facts I was curious to hear your theories about, yet you just ignored it or, even better, dismissed the facts as fraud. You my friend are not a skeptic; you are polemic, throwing generalized dirt towards anything that may endanger your misguided world view. Frankly, I just can´t take you seriously (uuh, was that arrogant of me....). But I echo your last point: Goodbye

Well, I honestly didn’t want to come back to this thread, yet what you wrote, and more importantly, implied here crossed the line by far... I´m not going to reply to your outrageous conspiracy nonsense (which is actually so ridiculous that it´s funny) but I may give you some personal insight: I am a biologist and I work on biodiversity. So you can either stand up and tell me to my face that my PhD studies are all a fraud and that I´m a liar paid by some eco-fascists (or for that matter: the climate conspiracy or the economic socialists...you name it) or you can apologize to me for your defamatory statements. Your call...

Yeah – I guess it makes the world a lot easier to understand when everything is nicely painted black and white. Anyway, I´m actually tired of debating about obvious facts that get denied because they might imply something called responsibility (yet again, I´m not taking about global warming). Just one last request: please read this (http://www.pnas.org/content/105/suppl.1/11579.full) and let me know who bought all those corrupt scientists (really, I mean it....knowing who buys all the studies would tremendously improve my funding situation) That said, yepp, it´s about time to fly some Tomcats over Iceland
-
You guys do realize this is not about global warming, right?? You guys do realize that we are watching the next mass extinction event in geologic history? (luckily there´s yet no anti-scientific-my-bartender-knows-it-better lobby to seed any irrational nonsense and abstruse crap about this fact) And you do realize that we are the single driver of this mass extinction? But, hey, as long as we can blame the corrupt scientists and finally have unraveled their world conspiracy everything’s fine now..... (btw. any scientist *might* feel offended by this kind of BS comments) @ U_W: nice find-thanks for posting!

TMF Tomcats Released
ToS replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
quick answer: - mach disc: not implemented yet (& didn´t make it on the flaw list) - standy compass: can´t see anything wrong with it....it´s where it is supposed to be and works remember the pit is WIP ....or right now more FIP (no update before winter) Cheers, Chris -
Hey folks, I´m new to TK sim modding, thus I accumulated a bunch of noobish beginner questions. I´m building a new Tomcat cockpit (basically a high poly spin-off of a pit I made for Janes FA18) and I´m lost on a few things: 1st: setting up the VDI (center) display ? The center display is basically a flat attitude indicator with some radar target symbology overlayed. - How can I set up a flat attitude indicator (eg similar to the radar attitude indicator) ? I figured out how to make attitude sheres, but have no idea how to make a flat sreen... I´m also not sure how I can get some radar data (range, ASE cycle, weapon type...) to display on the same screen (simultaniously with the normal radar screen on the lower display) ? 2nd: warning lights as lights ? this one is probably very stupid... The warning lights I added to the side consoles show up but are not "illuminated" (ie no lights, at night they are dark). Do I need to set up a certain material in 3DMAX (textures are plain bmps/ material standard right now) ? 3rd: F14A/B NATOPS / (high-res) pictures of the right knee panel/ upgraded F14B HUD ? well, title says it all - can anyone by any chance help me out with some reference material for the right knee panel and the upgraded F14B HUD (the one with a HUD frame - especially the modified ACM panel) ? Any input appreciated oh, and forgive my poor english..I´m too lazy to polish things up Cheers, Chris ps: there´s a screenie of what it looks like (early WIP shot of course):

Ladies & gents, the pit is still in WIP state (for 3-4 weeks ) - but teasing doesn´t harm: testing the stall warning lights: Cheers, Chris -

lol, what learing curve - I´m still riding on the linear learing slope, there´s no asymptotic slope in sight this pit is now about 1,5 years old - however, it´s a spin off of another pit I started for Janes FA18 two years ago.....actually I picked up 3d modeling just to make this one cockpit -

ToS replied to ToS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
thanks for your input - I got most things working now but still a lot of "thisismyfirstmodelandIknownothing" questions left ... 1. The BEARING_MARKER and COURSE_ARROW do not move relative to the MAGNETIC_COMPASS (i.e. they show the bearing for a fixed, non moving compass with N on the top) - do I need to link them to the Compass mesh ? ....which would be bad, because everytime I try linking objects the cockpit screws up in game 2. Can someone please enlight me with a step by step elaboration for dummies on Digital-display counters (especially how I set up the "series of rectangles") ? Cheers, Chris -

well - I´m late to say thank you ....that helped me quite a lot ! I was lazy (hey it´s summer ), but the pit is still alive and has undergone some face lifting (next in line are some missing dials and avionics): that said... maybe I´m suffering from a special case of mental stupidness but I can´t figure out how the HSI MovementTypes work... Can anyone please tell me how the corresponding MovementTypes are called ?? -

...what exactly does `wave off´ mean .... -
Hey, beat me if this has been already covered, but a quick search yielded no usable results well, titel says it basically - how can I get rid of the text messages that are displayed on the bottom of the screen (flaps out in, weapon XYZ selected ....) ?? I know about the HUDdata.ini and I´m not asking asking how to get rid of the radar screen or info displays....oh yeah, and I know what Alt+D does Cheers, Chris

bobrock, thanks for your reply - I fixed the lights and got the VDI to work (more or less, some scaling issues remain): once again a very basic question: How do I set up ANALOG_COUNTER (e.g. for Gun Rounds) in 3Dmax ? Can I influence the font color, size, style.... ? @ Icarus: thanks... I guess it´s pretty hard to avoid this place when it comes to TK sim mods
