  1. BBC Wings

My arrived in Portugal last Friday (23/10). I orderer it also from Play. The good news is it has subtitles in English (it helps a lot). Bad news are that it's not a good digital recovery. It's acceptable. Nothing that I wasn't expected. I remember, unfortunately, the work done on Brideshead Revisited. If this tv series were american than we would have a better chance.. But then again, americans are millions of light years away from us, europeans, in terms of digital recovery.
  2. Windows 7

Running perfectly in RC1 (32) for a couple of months. I'll try next week on the final Home Premium.
  3. Free Ram

Yes indeed. I don't need, but I do find your offer very generous Grumpy. It's a pleasure to be part of such community.
  4. I suspected that. They are hardsubbed. They are embebeded in the video stream. It's like in Photoshop with the merge function. Only in this case you cannot rebuild the layers. So you can do only two things. Use the first suggestion Flyby PC, using virtualdub in the avi file and create a dark band over the subtitles, or use the other suggestion of downloading a new version without hardsubbed subtitles. I would try the last one.
  5. Couldn't agree more. Besides there is another annoying effect when you don't have it. You keep moving the head like if you have one. It must look awkward when other people is watching.

  7. There are a few ways to that. You can demux the movie (in DVD format) into separate video, audio, subtitles tracks. Then you only have to mux it (join the tracks) again but without the subtitles. Finally rip again into avi (or any other format). For demux use pgcdemux ( http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PgcDemux) For mux use Muxman ( http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Muxman ) If you find this method suitable to you and have any doubts PM me or write in this thread.

  11. Question to our German Friends

The word in Portuguese for English is Ingleses (not much different from French). Just for the record, the Portuguese nicknames in WW1 were : - Pork-and-Beans ( they hated the English ration, corn beef, but loved beans and pork) - Geese - Gooses - Tony (because Antonio, which in English is Anthony, is a very common name in Portugal)
  12. Guess what my Mrs as brought me?

That's love!... or maybe something else... if that's the case, you'll know in the next couple of days. But let's assume it's love! My wife sometimes surprises me too. But never with such things as a TrackIR5 with Pro Clip. Does she have a sister?
  13. Question to our German Friends

True. I remember it now where I read that. It was on Martin Gilbert's "A History of the Twentieth Century". [...]The Kaiser's use of the word 'Huns', intended to encourage and flatter his men, was to rebound on Germany's head[...]" He abandoned later the example of the Huns and used instead the Isrealites with Moses against Amalekites. But I guess what stayed for posterity was the Huns.
  14. I'm sure some of you, at least the blighty mates, have read this in their youth. http://www.bookpalac...nfo_TPL574.html This brought me some good memories: http://www.bookpalac...ues_331_-_.html Cheers
  15. OT.. Dogfight Dixon R.F.C.

You're not alone on that. I've order a CD that have all the covers scanned from Dogfight and Battler Britton Portuguese editions. As for the wife I'll not tell her because she really don't understand my nostalgic needs. She, sometimes, already thinks that I'm just grown up kid. This would bring out some fuel for future arguing.
  16. Question to our German Friends

Good post UK_Widowmaker. I, myself have already wonder about that. How did our German mates react to this? There are other terms, that was used in a lot of Portuguese comics of WWII, that called the Germans as boches, Jerry or Kraut. Are they really depreciative?
  17. Windows 7

Welcome! I was having some performance problems with ATI drivers, Win XP and OFF. So I decided to give it a try in my Win7 (32) partition and guess... no problems whatsoever. It runs smoothly as it was running with Win XP before the problems. So, now I only play OFF with Win7. I didn't try multiplayer.
  18. They have commercial products too.
  19. Hats off to the Hun!

    Great landing indeed.
  20. BitDefender Internet Security report no issues.
  21. And also SuperAntiSpyware (good for detecting trojans and some rootkits) doesn't report anything. Tomorrow I'll check with BitDefender Internet Security.
  22. Well AVG is known for its false positives.
  23. NOD32 V4 and SuperAntiSpyware and... no issues.
