  1. Lothar & Olham;

    I tried both of your suggestions in that mission to no avail. I made sure that I had the railyard targeted and then pressed "A" to send in my squad mates, while I waited above the target zone and my squad mates just hung around following me.

    I have had straffing attacks on air fields and my squad always seems to do the correct thing and follow my instructions, but no success with bombing from our Camels.

  2. I have noticed that whenever I have a Railyard attack mission and I target the railyard and then direct my squad to attack with the "A" key, they always fail to do so. It seems I am the only one who goes in. The last time I went on one of these missions, I took a loadout of bombs and then bombed the designated target following which I sent in my squad, but they just loafed around with me at high altitude.

    I also suspect that when I choose a loadout, mys squad mates don't do the same as they seem to be flying clean.

    Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Are my squad mates too smart to take the risk which is usually high when you go in to strafe! And is it normal that they do not get a bomb load when I choose it for the mission. I always fly as flight leader.

    Best regards

  3. CaptSopwith;

    I'm late in responding to this thread and am happy to hear things are starting to look up! I learned a long time ago that passion can lead one down the wrong road if not kept in check. For myself, I found that nurturing a sound relationship on friendship and understanding made for a happier time later and a willingness to let myself get deeper involved without suffering so many failures. It's kind of like assessing the enemy in a potential combat encounter before deciding whether to jump in or run if you know what I mean.

    Wish you all the best

  4. You all raise some good points here. But at the end of the day, legacy apps support has not been a strong point with Microsoft until compatibility mode came along.

    I have a strong feeling Windows 8 will end this. I hope I'm wrong. I have been running Windows Vista Ultimate for a couple of years and have no problems with it inspite of the fact that most people give it a low grade.

    I would really like to hear from people who are already running/testing Windows 8 with OFF/WOFF.

    Lothars comment: "Windows 8 deprecates DirectX 9, and AMD/ATI will no longer support it with their drivers. NVIDIA may continue DX9 support in its desktop drivers for a while, but not mobile graphics chips in laptops and such. Since CFS3 requires DX9, you may be able to run OFF under Windows 8 with a NVIDIA desktop graphics card until they drop support, fingers crossed, otherwise you're SOL." gives me concern and I would like to understand this more clearly.

    Best Regards;

  5. rjw, now that you have a great graphic card, you should use it correct.

    The rigging wires in your photos show, that you don't use a good Anti-Aliasing.

    When you right-click on your desktop, you will get a menue with the Catalyst Control Center.

    There go to 3D applications/games, and pick the highest settings for everything -

    the card should perform it all.

    Thanks for drawing my attention to that. I have made the changes you suggested and here is the results:

  6. I just upgraded my two year old budget AM3 build with

    • Faster quad core running at 4.0 MHz (compared to a dual core running at 3.4. FWIW, extra cores don't make any difference, as OFF uses only one core, but raw speed matters);
    • ATI 7870 graphics card (upgrading from an ATI 5770 doubled my GPU performance).

    I am now running everything on max graphics settings and am blown away by how much better the experience is. Winder's scenery is amazing. And more computing power seems to make the aircraft flight models more challenging and realistic.

    Can't wait for WOFF now!!

    Yes! I just added a Saphire HD7870 card to My Intel i7 processor on an Intel DX58SO board and have noticed tremendoous improvement in graphics and more so in the sim performance. My old graphics card was a Saphire HD4870 and I thought it was good but not close to the HD7870.

  7. Nope.

    But we have a food called "Berliner" - the German doughnuts, which are called "Berliner"

    everywhere in Germany - except for Berlin, where they call them "Pfannkuchen" (pancake);

    which is something completely different again for the rest of all Germans.

    In Canada we have a saying" If you ever need a police man (cop) in a hurry just go to the nearest 'Tim Hortons' (very popular Donut and coffee shop), but after looking at your photo, Please don't let the word get around. Berlin is too far away for our police to respond when we need them!!! :grin:

  8. Good Idea Tom;

    Since I am located in Ontario, Just north east of the Toronto area (100km), I can say we have been receiving temps in teh 46 deg. area with constant rain for the last 3 days and brisk winds but so far no more than that. The real front is suspected to hit us by Monday.

    Hopefully the Delaware to New York sector will fare well. We will just have to wait it out.

    Best Wishes to all in Sandy's path.

  9. Yes, well WOFF of course, will have the Snipe (my campaign for it is legendary here!)

    Lot's of new skins to play with.

    I've done a few myself too (though I usually do the DVII)

    Snipe you say!!! OOOOHHHH! Now I get to model Barker's final aircraft. The one he was seriously maimed during his last combat mission against a multitude of german aircraft.

    Thanks for the tip, just another great reason to drool over WOFF!!

  10. Thanks Widowmaker;

    I'm kind of partial to Barker's planes and wanted to fly them in OFF. I'm also new to skinning and have a lot to learn. The effort certainly makes me appreciate the time time involved in generating a really great skin, and I'm certainly not even close to that yet and it took me almost a days effort to just mod these 4 craft.

    Thanks for looking at them.

    Best Regards;
