  1. Se5a and Camel moded skins with Canadian Maple Leaf

    This update corrects a flaw in one of the skins. Thanks to Olham for pointing me in this direction.

    These skins have been zipped with "7Zip". I have added a Red Canadian Maple Leaf to the original OFF skins for those interested.

    and the zip also includes .bmp screen captures of each image.

    Unzip the file and add the ".dds" file to your "skins" directory in OFF.

  2. Is anyone flying the AIRCO DH-2 ? Or have you ever tried a campaign in this aircraft?

    I tried it out, and will do another campaign with it in OFF II.

    I like this video - at 0:48 you can see the pilot moving through all control surfaces. Enjoy!

    Nice vid Olham! It's great to see these historical craft in the air for posterity, whether repro or original!

    Thanks muchly!

  3. Just had to "Reset OFF Manager", cause it couldn't match it's entries with the existing pilots.

    What happened?

    Well, I had opened the "Pilots Dossiers" and deleted my first pilot in there.

    I only EVER delete a pilot, when I want to create a new one.

    I have noticed, that the OFF Manager can get confused, when you only delete a pilot, without making a new one.

    If you make a new Pilot right after deleting one (without leaving OFF inbetween!), it will normally get placed

    at the same page like the deleted.

    In other words: if you delete Pilot No. 7 in your "Pilot Dossiers", the new pilot will be No. 7 again.

    This keeps up the whole order for the OFF Manager.

    In my case today, after deleting Pilot No. 1, the new created pilot got placed at the end of them all (in my case Pilot No. 23).

    The space for No. 1 remained empty - and the OFF Manager seemed to get confused by this.

    So my advice to everyone:

    1. When you delete a pilot, create a new one right after that.

    2. Just for precaution never delete Pilot No. 1

    If this was discovered and explained here before, I'm sorry, then I missed it.

    What you have discovered is one of many things which we could learn about the "Pilot Dossier Text" file.

    I have a post in BHaH General Help at this link: http://combatace.com/topic/70886-question-re-pilot-dossier-text-files/

    To date there has not be much new knowledge posted at this link, mostly speculation.

    I think a sticky on "Pilot Dossier Text file" would be a great place to accumulate the knowledge of the few for the benefit of the many. This post of your could be the first.

    What do you think??

  4. :good:

    Interesting question,

    initially I suppose I will be tooing and froing between workshop

    and QC, adjusting settings and tweaking to get OFF2 running right.

    This bit, I find, can be great fun.

    Then it will be into campaigns sans aids same as P3.

    I'm with RamblingSid on this one. Want to make sure Workshop is tweaked to optimum before campaigning so I will use QC in free flight mode to start. Hopefully there won't be too much tweaking necessary!

  5. Olham, that is a magnificent paint job on your plane. You have a true talent for skins. Salute.gif Thank you for the FoV settings too. A great help sir.

    Shiloh,

    I just started a campaign pilot myself flying SE5as for the British. His very first mission was a scramble! I ran out of ammo and I took some hits, but we let them know who's airspace it was with a little help from the boys on the AA guns. I have to agree with Olham, flying with no lables, etc makes things very exciting indeed. At any rate as soon as I saw it was a scramble, I decided to record the mission because they are always so intense. I'm out of practice on SE5as but I did what damage I could.

    Loved the scramble vid!!!

  6. My curiosity got the best of me on this subject and I had to see what fighting might be like at night Over Flanders Fields. It was very difficult at times to pick out the enemy craft and a few times I latched onto one of my own flight before identifying them. It was terrifying at times as you really do lose sight of the enemy but with the partial moon, I was able to see enough to stay active in the fight. Anyhow the action picks up around the 2:00 mark in case you want to give it a look. Enjoy! :salute:

    Nice piece of flying Shiloh! It looks hard to track your opponent when he passes into the dark background clouds!

  7. But I can assure you all, that I have heard from a reliable source, that the new sounds for OFF II

    will be a very different; they get all done new - no comparison to what there is now.

    Just to make you all drool a little more...

    Geez Olham...If we drool any more we'll likely drown ourselves!!!

  8. It's quite common actually. The Devs put a lot of work into re-creating the war. When there are big battles at the front, expect to see tanks, troops and support vehicles duking it out with one another, in addition to the arty rounds and AA.

    Nice video too sir. I hope your friend joins the war with us. If he needs any more convincing, I created a video called "The Over Flanders Fields Experience" that shows off some of the potential of this flight sim. It's about 5 minutes long and gives a fairly comprehensive overview of what you can expect when you fly Over Flanders Fields. Feel free to share it with anyone who might be interested. It can be viewed in up to 1080P for quality.

    By the way Hellshade, I forgot to ask what s/w u used for the Text overlays in your vids. I really like that feature.

  9. rjw, you haven't seen it all yet - there are even cavalry in some sectors!

    But I don't get what you need all the instruments for, holy Moly!

    If you should ever want to switch them off, you only need to press the keys Ctrl. + 1, Ctrl. + 2, Ctrl. + 3 etc.

    You can press the number repeatedly to switch through all gauges, and at last that gauge will disappear.

    That way you can switch off the gauges you don't need.

    You can grab each gauge and even the blue text, and move it where you want it.

    And with the key F5 you can switch Gauges + Text on and off.

    Hellshade, your video is like a marketing commercial, and I hope you will make some more of that kind,

    once OFF II will be released.

    Thanks Olham, I understand your point. I just turned them all on for the benefit of my friend. There are really more things than I can possible show in one video but I wanted him to see some of the aids available for a new pilot in OFF.

    Best Regards;

    Thanks Hellshade I appreciate the vid.

  11. I'm just hoping the AI doesn't make my flying look too bad. That'll probably be my toughest challenge. blink.gif

    Hellshade;

    I have the answer for you! A couple of shots of a good single malt scotch usually settles the nerves down enought to allow for smooth operation of hand and mind coordination!

    Remember "NO MORE THAN TWO" or you'll be dead meat!

    Best Regards;

  12. Thanks for clarifying Olham. I'm not sure what's going on here as one time the MFJ I skin/label matched up and were correct (see earlier photos). I'll troubleshoot more and see what I can figure out.

    Shiloh;

    One point worth noting. Jasta 18 was stationed at Montingen (South of Ardenne, west of Argonne) July 18th 1918. It would appear to be too far away for action near one of your missions on the north coast.

    Would you agree?

  13. Naw, I know you love the Pfalz, Hasse Wind, but she's not as beautiful IMHO - but nevertheless: a good fighter with a sturdy dive.

    But: chacun à son goût - there's no accounting for taste.Otherwise we'd all fight for the same woman. :grin:

    Not me Olham;

    I prefer function over appearance any time. That being said if it looks good....it's a bonus!
