  1. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

Thanks Olham- much appreciated. My current Flugmaat for the mini-campaign over on SimHQ is Karl "Schnurrbart" Muller and he is from Hamburg (my thinking is that 99% of my pilots come from little towns in Bavaria and don't survive, so if I chose say, Hamburg, then maybe they'd have a better chance...I know I know...grasping at straws). Kind regards, Dave
  2. Does AnKor's mod work on OFF?

    Nicely done!
  3. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

I really need to get back into skinning. Lovely work my friend. That colour scheme would look darn fine on a 109G too! Kind regards, Dave
  4. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

Olham, is that one of your custom paints on the Albatross? It's awesome!
  5. Interesting read, thanks much for sharing it! Kind regards, Dave
  6. Shiloh, that sounds like a super way to get involved. I had the privilege, many years ago, of watching a couple of Civil War re-enactments when I lived in Virginia. I was, at the time, a War Between the States 'history buff' and being able to go to the re-enactments as well as visit a lot of ACW battlefield memorials was a great experience. My father's family had lived in Virginia and left at the end of the War for Iowa and then came north to ranch in Alberta hence my interest in the ACW. Closest to re-enacting I've ever got though was via the table top/sand-table. :) Kind regards, Dave
  7. Does AnKor's mod work on OFF?

Thanks for the info, AnKor. I love what your mod brings to WOFF so I thought I'd check- it would be awesome to have that shadowing capability in FSX. Cheers!
  8. Does AnKor's mod work on OFF?

Hehe sorry, had to chuckle m8...the Do Not Tinker neon sign lit up when I was sitting here yesterday contemplating tossing it into my FSX just to see. I finally got mine settled last spring with a minor blip in the summer when I added a mod that increased ground vehicles at the airports. FSX is kinda like being married. I had switched over to P3D 1.4 but am still fudging with settings. Mainly fly a lot of hours using "Air Hauler" (recently borked my company in a fit of downsizing). Cheers for that ! Kind regards, Dave
  9. Does AnKor's mod work on OFF?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried this mod with FSX or P3D? Kind regards, Dave
  10. Brilliant mod and the enemy AI love it too since they 'know' I spend 98% of a flight just gawking instead of properly sweeping the skies searching for the rotters. :D Kind regards, Dave
  11. Transfer Flight

Nice series of pics, Olham. Nasty weather for sure. Kind regards, Dave
  12. I agree with Hauksbee, Olham. You always post some excellent reads. RAFLouvert and Bullethead were also major contributors. Like Flyby PC, and Olham, my own real-life has changed a bit since I joined here in 2009; job changes, family life changes, grad school on hold, and even gaming interests have changed somewhat----- all that contributes to lack of posting time for me (I'd rather be playing than posting tbh) besides, I'm not all that prolific anyway lol. Cheers all!
  13. Thanks my friend, you as well! After the shambles I made of my EIII entry into RR's mini-campaign over on SimHQ I need a quiet sector of the front to get a new pilot going. Since I had really enjoyed our times in Jasta 6 (OFF) I may re-explore that as I love the variety of aircraft (especially the Albatrossi). Kind regards, Dave
  14. When the engine is hit

I would have hit a fence landing in that soup. A clanking engine gets a shut down from me out of fear of fire and I'll try to glide towards a road , trail, or cleared bit if I can. The one sound that gives me shivers is the tearing/ripping canvas (even the creaking canvas) and then I wait for a wing to fall off. I recall flying the Nieuport 17 model in another WWI sim where in the early stages of that models existence ingame the wing would just come off at the same time as you heard the sound of ripping fabric (long since fixed)...no warning LOL. Mon Dieu!! Kind regards, Dave
  15. I'm busy experiencing WOFF since I was late to the party ^.^ Kind regards, Dave
  16. CombatACE WOFF Video

    Nicely done! Kind regards, Dave
  17. WOFF: Screenshots and Videos

    Fantastic screen captures chaps!
  18. Can't be real...I don't see any fences
  19. Yes, thanks for posting the video. I've gone and started a career in RFC 3 March 1916 now ^.^ Just wanted to note that as he was describing the sights and events I was following along in my mind via imagery from WOFF and realized how much more OFF/WOFF allows us to brilliantly immerse in that period of history.
  20. WW1 photo's (unseen)

Very nice collection indeed! Kind regards, Dave
  21. Thanks for sharing the links, Olham. Very interesting perspective!
  22. Thoroughly enjoyed that Tom, thanks! It's pretty neat to see the similarities amongst us. Mercury and Apollo programs were avidly followed by me with Mom baking 'moon cookies' for launches hehe. The imagery in the first post reminded me of some of the comic book art from back in the day too, like Weird War Tales, which sometimes included a WWI air story if I recall right. Kind regards, Dave
  23. Love this discussion :) First plastic model for me was a Starfighter my father built for me (I think it was 1/48th scale) back in 1967. When I was able to do them myself it was usually Airfix 1/72nd scale. I loved the WWI models except for having the odd trouble with the wings and using black thread for the wires was a pain. I also built a bunch of Revell 1/32nd machines but mainly WWII. Best bit was going to airshows and military airshows and being able to recognize real aircraft from some of the models I had built. My love of flying comes from my grandfather, who was a bush pilot, and later a fighter pilot in WWII. I fly vicariously via sims as being a military pilot was not an option when I got out of high school (so joined the infantry instead) and over the years my career has been in public service so learning to fly has a financial barrier. WOFF (and other flight sims) is/are my current way of indulging in my passion ^.^ Kind regards, Dave
  24. Thanks for the workshop tip, I hadn't thought to check there regarding spotting distances for the dots :) (OT re: AirHauler: the Aerosoft Twin Otter is a brilliant add-on. I love the preflight check list system Aerosoft went with. The aircraft models include a cargo variant so you can look back and see crates ^.^)
  25. Hi Corsaire, I'm currently still operating my main AH company, "Aero Pacific", out of PHNG in Hawaii (massive rep drop after I dissolved all of my North American bases) with nine AI pilots, all flying DC-3's. You can find me blathering on the AH "chat" channel along with West, Howard and a few others-- usually just jawing and trading stories, passing around the coffee thermos. Back on topic <cough, apologizes> I am getting better at spotting so I imagine labels will be off in a few more sorties...and my pilot actually made 55 minutes today! :D
