  1. DiD Logbook.

Might be my membership level? The only buttons I get on my post above yours is 'quote' and 'multi-quote'
  2. DiD Logbook.

I'm fine either way, just I cannot edit my posts after a certain period of time-- I lose the edit icon- so unless there is some edit function I'm unaware of (huge possibility) I won't be able to keep my own thread trimmed down if we're concerned over space and bandwith useage.
  3. DiD Logbook.

May I suggest that we just use the 'Reports from the Front' thread thats already stickied? Or have one big one on the DiD Campaign that we can ask to be stickied? My thinking is that way we can all post in the same spot, and enjoy each others successes, stories and whatnot without having to sift through pages of forum threads to find each others threads. I would imagine the mods might suggest something similar anyway.
  4. Salute to Daniel Cvjetanovic's memory and his many actions. Absent friends
  5. If you managed to get a hold of one, I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to cast some copies in resin and paint up?
  6. Either colour strip is fine for me, Olham. The orangey yellow is a bit turnip-like
  7. That gives me a cunning idea...tea time practice over the Ardennes, a trip to the Alps, home to Schliersee...its all coming to fruit m'Lord...yes..Plan 17... "The Grand Imperial Turnip-Sausage Plan"
  8. "Leutnant Rolf Meyer reporting for duty, mein Staffelfuhrer"
  9. Lucky, you can access the bombsight using F7....its more like a hole cut into the bottom of the fuselage and you have to use the bombing technique of TLAR as there are no gradations/cross hairs. To get out of bombsight view takes a bit of dancing I found. The only way I could get out was hit F6 (compass/panel/gunsight view) and cycle through it until you get back to 'virtual cockpit view'. Really liking the DFW actually, which is a good thing as I think I'll be in one for quite some time
  10. My bad for not being clear in the write-up (and I can't edit it, as the edit button no longer shows). We had engaged a flight of FE2b, and BE2's when a flight of enemy scouts showed up. In short order we were all separated and spread out, and a right good fight had developed when a flight of Halberstadts arrived to be fodder for the RFC scouts. I had seen this 'cowboy' from some ways away, doing more than the other AI enemy so I figured something was up. I watched him fly for a couple of seconds and decided in the interests of survival I'd get the heck away before he targeted me. I started to climb away from what was left of the scrap, my machine slightly damaged from the initial engagement with the other enemy machines. I then saw the enemy special fellow get in behind my wingman and start shooting short bursts. Having a bit more altitude, I converted that into speed and swept in behind this fellow who was so busy concentrating on my poor wingman. I must have been within 50 metres when he suddenly pulled up his nose and slowed right down. Luckily I had anticipated correctly and hammered him with a good three second burst, and down he went. Just before he ploughed into the earth I paused the sim and flipped labels on, mainly to see what RFC squadron we'd come up against (as my identification ability is still suspect) and was so surprised when the label read Hawker. The only other ace I've come up against lately was Guynemer and he completely and utterly shredded my pilot.
  11. Sounds great Olham, thank you! FA(A)250------> 17 hours/5 confirmed claims-------->Jagdstaffel 6 As to names, I wouldn't worry about incorporating forum nicks into a name as Siggi has the Campaign KB set to include your forum nick beside your ingame name anyway, and any posts people make about their pilots will have the forum nick attached. I'll go re-make Rolf Meyer as a Leutnant (thats one of the wifes ancestral family names-- originally Untreimeyer[sp] which got changed to Meyer on arrival in Canada just after WWI, alongside Schultz and Holt relations from my fathers family).
  12. Carrick, your first pic looks a lot like my first couple of test pilots. I'm getting the hang of the DFW, but when I went back to the Halberstadt to test fly it once again, I realised that I need a lot of practice in it. I was shot down very fast when we got bounced by some N17s that snuck in out of the clouds...I could hear 'em, but not see them. How do you direct your wingman/flight when you can't utilise the TAC for DiD?
  13. Really nice screenie, VonGuber Here is the end of 'my' (pilot Lt.Franz von Brandenburg of Jasta 6...don;t mind the incorrect skin ) brush with Lanoe Hawker (late October 1916)
  14. Ready. Any ruling on skins, Siggi/Olham? I finally managed to pick up Bullethead's Night Camo, so I've that available if deemed ok.
  15. I'm fine with the DFW--- its actually quite a pleasure to fly apart from the engine block in my face, and takes really nothing to get used to. It climbs well, turns ok, lands nicely, very stable while starting bombing run. I don't care about the FF MG (forward firing) as the DFW is not a scout, and for strafing, I'll just follow the rounds as they hit the ground. I'm usurping the French plan name, and calling my Baldric Plan "Plan XVII" (17 hours...17 hours 17 hours....). Olham, no need to pass on the baton if the brown stuff smacks into the fan blades-- we've got your six <runs off to find some especially fine specimens of turnips to drop on RFC messhalls>
  16. The site looks great, Siggi
  17. Hasse, in my test I've managed two campaign days, four flights, and almost 4 hours worth of survival, but I've been reallyyyyyyy careful- almost went down to a DH yesterday when they attacked the FA(A)250 field, managed to land in a nearby field with the DFW riddled...total time for that one was five minutes lol. I think survival is doable, but its going to be hard. Has anyone got a handle on the FF MG? I can't see the target when I 'bend' down to sight along the iron sights as a chunk of the frame model blocks view, and F6 isn't any better--- my shots go all over the place (6% acc)-- for now I've given up on the pilots mg.
  18. I'd suggest leaving 'mixture' as a choice, rather than a 'must do'. I don't have the real-life time to arse around with figuring it out.
  19. Whats the music for this game?

If I recall rightly, the string version of the Adagio (played by the Vancouver Symhony Orchestra) was also the theme for the movie 'Platoon'
  20. Jasta 6 get the Albatros DI early, and have a decent variety of machines over time, and a lot of action against enemy observation and bomber in the Fall of 1916. That said, whichever one you decide on, Olham, is most fine with me- I will be there map in hand, flying scarf and goggles at the ready as soon as I've achieved the requisite survival time in the FleigerAbteilung. The only DFW flying unit that fits Siggi's specification is FA(A)250, so I will go ahead an roll up my pilot in anticipation of the November start.
  21. Olham, I was messing around getting some stick time with the DFW, and found the correct field (Wasquelthingy) Siggi said we needed to start from, and the FA(A) flying DFW seemed to be FA(A)250-- didn't check any of the other FA's to see if they flew the DFW out of Wasq. Oh, and what rank should we start at? I made my practice pilot a Feldwebel, but Flieger is fine too.
  22. Jawohl, Herr Kommandant! Auf den Kaiser! Auf unser Vaterland! Salut! <clics heels, lights his pipe, and, champagne in hand, strides off to check the manual on 'How to Fly the DFW'> (I'm blind, which Schusta?)
  23. Forgot how good this sim is

Totally agree about the immersiveness of the flights, and the campaign is just added gravy for me. I've all three on my HD as well (plus a Steam version of IL2 since my old discs were too old for vista). Lots of choice, tons of great simming...soooo many options, so little time. Maybe OBD can invent the 28hr day with working for two hours, paid for eight....
  24. WHATS YOUR BEST KILL

Most interesting one for me, was catching Lanoe Hawker on a bad hair day. Didn't have a clue who this particular AI pilot was, but he was throwing his machine all over, much more animatedly than the others. My wingman was unlucky to be a lame duck (engine smoke) and this chappy was soon on his tail potting away. I swung over and gained some speed as I knew the enemy pilot was going to swan upwards and he did, and I closed quickly firing from about 75 metres. I just hammered him with a full three second burst. Shreds of canvas all over the sky, and down he goes, all gimped and smoking. I hit the labels ON just to see what I got and sure enough to my huge surprise it was Lanoe that then ploughed into a field. I've a couple of screenies. My wingman limped over to our side and then crash landed behind our reserve trenches. Got him all softened up for MvR, who got him in real life a month later.
  25. Hehe, I was at a loss for a forum moniker when I signed up here while waiting my copy of OFF to arrive at the end of August/early September, so I fell back on my forum name from a games group I belong to in the UK and our ancient Battlefield 1942 clan names (1st Hussars, and games group is HGG). I'm known as Leaf on my own forums (mainly MMO gaming). Don't think I can change it Olham, I'll fly in whatever Jasta you want to start.
