  1. Indeed! Can´t wait to have the newest addition to the great TSF series. You guys rock!!!
  2. Man, these are BEAUTIES!!! I tried desperately to locate them at the downloads section but failed. Could someone help me to find them?
  3. Something wrong in this pic... Like Red Storm Rising, a carrier battlegroup under attack. BTW Carl Vinson took three AS-4 hits, didn´t sink or even slow down, unlike the escorts. All destroyers and cruisers were sunk. The attacking force was 12 Tu-22M3´s all with 2 AS-4´s. The end of California Another CGN sunk.
  4. No. It´s just A-7E campaign´s first mission. Single missions work fine. Just choose "Near Target" from mission starting position for that and then change it to 'On the ground, at home base' for the second mission. Should work fine. Aside from the immersion-killing Hawkeye-voiceovers I really like SF2:NA.
  5. I´m not able to take off from Nimitz with a Corsair, not even without any payload. An explosion happens or the speed is not enough and that´s it. I have zero modding skills. Help, CombatACE wizards, you are my only hope.
  6. Gnats over Scandinavia. Many thanks to JonathanRL and the whole TSF Team!
  7. Thank you very much, Wrench, a great job once again! I already started a custom ´86 campaign in Nato Fighters with Finnish Hawks in close support role, acting like tiny little brothers of ´Hogs.
  8. That´s great news, JonathanRL! Since I don´t have neither time nor energy to make 100 posts to SimHQ to be able to download the Black Sea Terrain 2.0 for Baltika´s Orange Revolution Campaign, which I find very interesting, I just sit back and wait for upcoming additions to the great Scandinavian Front series, Operation Desert Storm for SF2 and of course, SF2:Not Available. I have read the Red Storm Rising once again and watched Top Gun, so I'm ready!
  9. Wow, Wrench! That´s a beauty! I hope these are helpful. As you can see, the 80´s serial numbers were like this (Nevermind the camo around side insignia, it´s wrong): The numbers were from HW-301 thru HW-350. Later serial markings looked like this: The latest camo and markings. I think the Hawk mk66´s from Swizerland look like this, too. Their serial numbers would be HW-374 thru HW-392. If someone has better information, please advise.
  10. Once again, I'm in awe! The plane bears a great resemblance to the Gripen actually, so it would surely have been taken into deep consideration when choosing a new interceptor for Finnish air force had it been real excisting airframe. The Camo is just pure Art. I wish that someone had the time and could make the Finnish skins for Hawk, both the two tone green and the newer gray, but I just have to wish. You do keep on the high quality producing those what if´s! Keep it up , Sir!
  11. Some screenshots while patiently waiting for both ODS for SF2 and SF2:NA. Cheers! A wounded predator and its destroyed prey Big bird going down A Hunter moment part 1 Victorious Viggen Lightnings in pursuit Where Eagles fly... Merge at your own risk... A Finnish Draken soon over European skies A Hunter moment part 2 Mighty Foxhound Mukelo(A child or a toddler) =A Finnish nickname for this little bird My favourite plane Another big-time fav, hopefully soon over North Atlantic...
  12. USAF Museum

I just finished reading The Fighter Pilot. I cannot think of a finer example of a combat leader than Robin Olds. He had it all. My respect for him and his brothers-in-arms is very deep, especially being aware of the fact that they often had to fight their war with their hands half-tied. I wish a very merry christmas to the whole Combatace community! boulder
  13. That looks stunning, you sure know how to create great teasers too, JonathanRL! I´m very happy for The Operation Isbjörn, but getting the opportunity to fly MiGs against MiGs in Scandinavian Campaign will be so much fun!
  14. I don´t use game profiler for SF2 because I don´t need it. I bought G940 only for SF2 series. This is what I did with my G940. At first I calibrated joystick and throttle in windows. Then I launched the game and went to the options panel and configured my setup. You can customize your own button setups very quickly and easily. Some measure of pre-planning may be very helpful. For example, I decided to locate weapon controls(not all options, just the necessary ones like "next air to air weapon" etc.) , air brakes and acquiring the nearest hostile targets or radar targets in the joystick buttons and radar mode and range functions to throttle hats. The eight lighted throttle buttons are very useful, too. For example, I have padlock view, weapon view, ecm, autopilot and stuff like that selected there. I don´t use other than one mode in throttle(there is three, which you probably knew already). I don´t mind having many functions in the keyboard, I just want to have my hands on throttle and stick when the going gets tough. Check latest G940 software from Logitech homepage. Very often, when I start a mission my rudders are not centered. to center them, just move the rudders fully once or twice, that´ll do the job. This is just the way I did it and it works for me because I´m a very simple man. Experiment different combinations and best of luck!!! It would be very interesting to know how other G940 users have configured their hardware. It´s 2:03 a.m. in Finland now but i still have time to perform a strike to Cuba with my Silent Eagle before I go to bed... boulder
  15. What a great backstory, JonathanRL! You even included "Larry Thorne"! And yes, this is almost like X-mas for me! Thank you very much, and cheers to the great Combat Ace modding community!!! boulder
  16. Sr71

Without any doubt, the Habu is perhaps the most unique and outstanding aircraft ever produced. The Soviets were never able to create anything that could come even close to the Blackbird. They were able to intercept it, though. The following is an excerpt from Jane´s: "Fighter Combat in the Jet Age". "The Soviets continued to develop new anti-SR-71 tactics, and on 3 June 1986 these were demonstrated to a USAF crew on a mission over the Barents Sea. Six MiG-31 'Foxhounds', vastly superior to the MiG-25 'Foxbat' , performed a co-ordinated intercept that would have subjected the SR-71 to an all-angle AAM attack that even a combination of high-altitude maneuverability and ECM could not have defeated. Fortunately for the crew of the American jet, the interception took place over international waters, but the Soviets had nevertheless proved their point". It tells something about the SR-71, when you need six Foxbats to intercept it effectively. Amazing plane, hats off to Skunkworks.
  17. Warn status bar?

Is it possible to remove my Warn status bar too? boulder
  18. Great, JonathanRL!!! I would volunteer for beta-testing immediately, but RealLife™ is causing me some very severe time constraints. Thumbs up with your project!!! And to paulopanz, your Lansens look absolutely stunning! boulder
  19. All three campaign scenarios are very interesting. If I had to pick one, it would be the 1963 campaign. Also, the 2012 campaign would be even more interesting if Swedish Gripens had Finnish Hornets alongside them in a devastating battle of survival against Soviets overwhelming numbers until NATO achieves absolute air superiority over German skies and comes to aid Finland and Sweden. The larger strategic picture could be just like Tom Clancy´s outstanding "Red Storm Rising". The Russians would try to take strategic positions in Norway in order to utilize Norwegian air bases against western supply convoys and United Kingdom.Mr. Clancy didn't describe northern front actions much in his book, which is totally understandable, main focus is in Europe, Iceland and at sea. I think the Soviets would have launched a fast and decisive land campaign first taking northern parts of Finland and Sweden. Their final goal would be Norway. I still think that one campaign more should be considered: 1986 Campaign - Red Storm North As hostilities between NATO and Warsaw Pact begin in Central Europe, Soviet forces mobilize in north, too. NATO´s air power is needed almost fully over the skies of Central Europe, leaving only Norway, Sweden and Finland against Soviet war machine. Soviets invade northern parts of Norway and Finland, but Norway has time to relocate their core airforce units to continue air operations from Swedish airbases as Sweden and Finland both are attacked by the Soviet Union. The Finns have to do the same. Sweden and Finland, with the aid of surviving Norwegian Air Forces must withstand the Soviet air and land assault alone and prevent the Soviet bombers to use their newly-acquired northern air bases freely against the UK, Iceland and western supply convoys. NATO is currently tied in the battles of Central Europe, Iceland and North Atlantic. Will they succeed? Flyable aircraft would include at least Norwegian F-16(the only NATO fighters available at the time), Swedish JA/AJ Viggens, Drakens and Lansens, Finnish Mig-21bis, Drakens and Hawks. Playing the Campaign from Soviet point of view should be interesting, too. How about it, boulder
  20. I think a campaign using this great map would be awesome. I can already imagine Finnish Fishbeds against Soviet Fishbeds. Flying Swedish Viggens, Drakens and Lansens and Norwegian F-16's in a North Cape Campaign would be amazing. I´d do it myself if only I had the necessary skills to do the job. Unfortunately I have none. So, campaign-making wizards in this magnificent forum, how about it? boulder
  21. Thank you!!! One must always expect the unexpected in the glorious realm of "what if´s".
  22. HM-55 Falcon (Rb27) semi-active radar guided missiles were used in Saab J 35 F starting from mid-seventies, so that IR only statement is slightly incorrect. American jets were of course politically impossible to acquire. Even Mirage IIIC, the absolute number one choice of the air force evaluation pilots in 1961, was out of reach. Along with the Draken Finnish air force got their first chance to acquire western fighter technology in early seventies. Even without the cold war, the Phantom would propably have still been too expensive and complex aircraft to use and maintain. Keep in mind that the Mig-23 was offered to Finnish air force, but was considered too complex and difficult to maintain. But in what-if scenario, without any financial or other restrictions the Phantom would surely have been the top machine for the Finns too.
