    View File SPAD XIII Diamond Dick SPAD XIII C1. "Diamond Dick" for First Eagles 2 & 1 This is a skin for SPAD XIII C1. "SHOWBIRDS" to be used in First Eagles 2 and 1 Historical notes: This skin depict the SPAD XIII C1. Flown by Lieutenant William H. Palmer of 94th Aero Squadron. Ft. Alexander, Koblenz, Germany. April of 1919. Lt. William W. Palmer achieved 3 victories in WW1, flying with the 94th Aero Squadron. The pilots of the 94th Aero Squadron decided to paint their SPAD XIIIs. In an attempt to outdo one another they came up with what were termed the "showbirds". The planes were painted up for the April 1919 Air show at Koblenz. During the Spring of 1919, "Diamond Dick" took part of the "Showbirds" SPADs during the occupation duties in Germany, with more eight colourfull SPADs of 94th Aero Squadron. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS : This skin do not uses decal files, so will be easy install. To install this skin and ini file, copy or drop the folder named "Diamond Dick" in any SPAD 13 aircraft folder that you wish. (it will work with all SPAD 13). *ATTENTION* In order to work properly on your loadout menu option, inside the "Diamond Dick" folder, there is a TXT file that you must open and COPY the content into your SPAD13_XXX.ini. [TextureSetXXX] Directory=Diamond Dick Name=Diamond Dick Nation=USAS Squadron= Specular=1.800000 Glossiness=1.800000 Reflection=0.000000 Replace the (XXX) in the [TextureSetXXX] top line, with the appropriate number following your "ini" file order for others skins that you have already installed.     Yes, exotic planes are my favorite theme By the way, I'm a Nieuport nuts. Right now I'm researching the Nieuport 27 that was flown by First Lieutenant Lansing Colton Holden. Their Nieuport has a painting pattern I could never imagine for a combat period. He used the Nieuport while serving on Escradrille No. 471 (Second Lafayette Escadrille) which flew in the defense of Paris. I skinned him many years ago (First Eagles 1) assuming the color used would be yellow but I think it's wrong, french blue according to my recent research would be the correct color. I know a B&W photo published in Cross & Cockade (US) Vol. 11 No. 1, 1970 but I don't own that copy. Do you know if there is an color profile of this Nieuport?
