  1. The patch is out! More flyable planes!! See the 1C forums for download mirrors.
  2. A quick search reveals that IL2 1946 can be purchased online for less than 4 quids at: http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/pc-games/ubi-soft-il2-1946-pc.asp Enjoy!
  3. Surprise Opponent

All the references I could find indicate that the 17 was in French service until October '17 at the latest. The 17 was phased out by the SPAD VII. Only the British used some 24bis (pretty similar to the 17) until early '18. So, it seems like a 'bug'. Should this be reported to the OFF developers?
  4. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that you should ave bought IL2 1946. It is sold online for the same $9.99 price as (and this is a scam) the original IL2 Forgotten Battles (FB) OR Pacific Fighters (PF). You can browse for those titles at "Direct to drive" for examples: http://www.direct2drive.com/3021/product/Buy-IL-2-Sturmovik:-1946-Download What this particular retailer does not tell you (that is where the scam is) is that IL2 1946 contains IL2 FB+PF+all the patches and new airplanes until version 4.07m. I do not remember if PF is patchable to version 4.XX or over but I strongly encourage you to buy IL2 1946 (and possibly return PF if it is a physical version). To summarize for anybody that would want to purchase any of the IL2 titles: DO NOT let them trick you by price maneuvering! ONLY BUY IL2 1946 and you get ALL the series titles. From the IGN review: "IL-2 1946 is a collection of all things IL-2 up until this point in time: every add-on, every campaign and every plane, over 300 of the things by the last count. It also contains three new expansions of its own: PE-2, Sturmoviks Over Manchuria, and 46 (after which the collection is half-named, confusingly) - all mercifully merged into a single installation" (Sam Nolan; http://pc.ign.com/articles/751/751000p1.html)
  5. LOL Dark Forces! I'll always remember being surprised slipping on the ice to a falling death. That said, I agree that il2's strong point has always been (and will be for a long time) the incredible number of high quality 'official' flyable plane models. That combined with teams of devoted modders, having to get approval from Maddox for each change, keeps the quality of the constantly patched/updated/expanded game to a high level. Hopefully the next Maddox sim (Storm of War, right?) will follow those guidelines and become a true successor to il2.
  6. It was announced on SimHQ that the 4.09m official patch is coming soon. See link here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2865269/Re_4_09_Readme_Guide.html This will include new aircraft, maps and some interface upgrades. The manual can be downloaded via that link too. Il2: the sim that never dies!
