The use of the word "Red Fighter Pilot" was correct. It was because the actual dialogue that this version cut out was from MvR's book's title translated into English. It's also how you explain the seemingly random inclusion of words such as "Recollection" which obviously only makes sense if you were to hear the dialogue being spoken and which was cut out of this version.

Well who could argue with that?!

Geez, no one is interested in one's politics here..... Do your campaigning somewhere else.

Im in the process of developing a personal skin (in conjunction with the upcoming patch and my soon to be awarded ace status with Jasta 11) and was wondering if there is a base skin for the Albatross DIII early without any paint (just wood/canvas)? I have found the generic skin I fly with and have tried editing it a bit and while it looks pretty nice over unpainted areas (eg. the fuselage), painted areas such as the tail and wings dont look so nice as the layered paint shows through. Is there a skin without paint, or do I just white the areas out and paint from scratch? Thanks.

Is there an unpainted skin?

Thanks for the answers guys! It was pretty much what I expected, but just wanted to make sure. -

Does this work with the 64 bit version of Photoshop? I've installed it but can't save as dds files so I assume my install didn't work.... -
Oooh, the addon gets its own name... How about just calling it Phase 4; that will throw them all for a loop!
-
What do you guys think the best single book there is for covering aviation in WWI? Even better if the book contains prints of the planes (and especially preferable for color plates....)
-
What would be interesting is that if Phase 4 were actually the result of addons to Phase 3 starting with the first addon pack due out soon. If no new engine is found to replace the CFS3 one, then couldnt the upgrade to P4 be an extremely gradual one through addons here and there but still based off of P3? At least that's one way to never let Phase 3 get obsolete and to quell people's fears that they'd "only" get a few years service time from P3 :)

Best book on the air war in WWI?

A bibliography.... Ha, good one! Though I get the feeling you're probably right about that if I'm limiting myself to a single volume. -
I'm not finding it anywhere in the cockpit. And the airspeed indicator's location defies me as well, if there are those in the cockpit.

Any chance to get some of virtual cockpit shots of these beautiful birds???

Is there an altimeter in the Alb. DIII?

Thanks, at least I know I wasn't staring right at the instruments and didn't realize it! -
Was this the Nieuport used by Rickenbacker or was it a latter model?

The winter of 1917 is a rather cloudy one. As such, when flying airfield defense missions for the Germans, heavy fog and clouds is practically the norm. So is it proper procedure to try and fly through the clouds in order to get up to a decent altitude and hope for an eventual break in the clouds, or is it proper to fly low enough that my vision isn't obstructed (which can mean flying just a few hundred feet up at times)? Just curious as to what pilots would have really done given this weather...

After coming across a couple flights of the 1 1/2 Sopwith Strutters on an apparent bombing mission of our (German) airfields, I managed to down four of them. Now, what made this so simple was the fact that they don't do anything other than continue to fly straight. Since they were used as fighters in some roles, I would expect a bit more of evasive flying as opposed to this straight level tactic they used. Is this normal or correct behavior out of these planes, or is something amiss on my end? (Or perhaps I should just enjoy it while I can before the English fighters are more numerous later - currently I'm with Jasta 11 in February 1917.) Thanks

OT: How Do You Feel About Collecting Old War Medals?
rwmarth replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
To be brutally honest, we play a game in which thousands of people died doing so and went hell through doing so while we sit here and enjoy it immensely. (eg. burning to death in a cockpit while slowly plummeting to earth; can't be much of a worse way to go.) Can't say collecting medals is any worse than this..... (And no I'm not criticizing enjoying the game as I am very guilty of that myself. It's just that human nature is kind of dark when you think of it....) -

Seems like it could be what Caveman suggests in that people going underground in a line into the bomb shelter are just like potatoes which are grown underground.... The queue reference may be referring to how potatoes are grown in a row and look like a line, just as people are positioned in a narrow bomb shelter... Maybe even that the bombing raids are so frequent that the kids spend so much time undergroud that just like potato spuds growing big, the kids are forced to grow up underground....Though that is probably a stretch. -

And as far as when (truly) updating video card drivers, I always simply follow instructions and not take these elaborate steps to clean any old trace of the previous drivers. I let the installer handle that, and it seems to work well for me. Only if you have problems with video performance after upgrading drivers would it be advisable to manually purge the system of the old traces.
-
Shimmering does seem to suggest a filtering issue with the video card's graphics. Drivers or, even dare I say, a dying video card would be my first guess..... Some drivers are simply more reliable and stable than others. Oh for the day when they finally just design drivers that actually get the true performance potential out of these video cards we have!
