Until you get used to the 28, it's best to avoid going over the lines. That way if you run into trouble, you won't have a huge list of dead pilots.

85hz for an analog monitor! What are these people smokin'! They better pass the piece pipe around on that one so we're all on the same cloud! Or, it could be, sh------sh------ they are in a conspiracy with the monitor manufacturers to get people to burn up their monitors and force them to buy new ones, thereby enriching the monitor manufacturing cartel. -
If it's the old shellac resin, that nasty, stinky old glue should work for repairing it. Just used it sparingly so it doesn't ooze out the edges.

Yeah the real old ones I think were made of acetate.

Yeah it is under the resolution part. Click the Add Resolution Button at the bottom. Then click on the Create Custom Resolution button. The options are all there Horizontal Vertical Refresh Bit Depth It lets you test your settings ahead of time. They just tucked it away a little more than the old Control Panels. -
Stiffy, what is the record made from? My grampa used to repair his old 78s from the 20s 30s and 40s if they broke. Also, is it a thin or thick disc? The thinker ones mend easier and hold up better.

You shuld be able to configure your Nvidia control panel to use custom resolutions. I know my 28 inch monitir runs best at 60Hz, but it also has (and I don't know why it would) setting 59Hz. But I can set it up to operate up to 75 manually if I want, but like you say, I cna see the shimmering of a mirage out the back of the thing. -

OT: Greetings From North Dakota

Although the boys at the radiator shop may be your friends! I liked the Badlands, and the area around Mt. Rushmore. Always liked the end of the Hitchcock film, North by Northwest with Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint. -
Used to drink Rhiengold, Sheafer, and Schmidts in PA. Used to get them at the "beer depot", in 16oz bottles. Real brown glass bottles. Lots of micro breweries in that neck of the woods. At least 25 to 30 years ago. There was one local brewer that put out a nice amber boch, and dark brew every autumn, from Oktoberfest through Christmas and New Years. Loved goin' to Germantown outside Philly!

And my wingmen also need a kick up the arse
ConradB replied to JimAttrill's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Jim, I avoid the wingie collisions by running at 100% throttle at all times accept for dives, and landing of course. It's helpful in combat too, if you damage a foe, and wish to finish him off, you can use slashing attacks until he goes down. But when I assign the a target for the wingies, I leave to it, unless they run into trouble, and need help. Helps to let them get some kills, as they tend to survive longer as they increase their scores. Not as many casualties listed lately with action every 2 to 3 missions. -

Are you referring to the SPAD A2 and A4? Which had a "pulpit observer nacelle in front of the plane. It was powered by a LeRhone 80h.p. rotory for the A2, and the 110h.p. LeRhone for the A4. France used 42 of the A2, and 57 were sent to Russia. As for the A4, France purchased 1, and 10 went to Russia where they are said to have been used on operations there. http://www.pilotfriend.com/photo_albums/timeline/SPAD%20A2.htm There is also the Bleriot SPAD XVIII 2 seater from 1917, but I'm not finding a decent pic to link to. It was a standard tractor biplane configuration with the observer behind the pilot. -
OT: RC plane vs. kids with fireworks
ConradB replied to Schnitzel von Krumm's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We had a kid on a bike in Denver that spent a month in the hospital from getting hit by a model plane. Apparently something in the R/C gear failed, and the pilot / owner was trying to maintain control, and the thing spun in, and smacked him. The old R/c Modeller used to run stories of mishaps like models through car windshields, and sun roofs, and some nasty ones from props spinning at high rpms, and what can happen. Don't know if they do that anymore or not, but it made you think, and test everything before you left for the field, and before each flight, look everything over. And if you change out battery packs, use a multi testor to check the integrity of the battery pack. -

Since were talkin' 2 seaters, how about 4 downward firing Spandaus: http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/a/1178/59/1/11 Or the good ole Aviatik C Series. Very pleasant looking aeroplane series. The "chimney" style exhaust stack. http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/o/1123/59/0/4 THe LVG is also nice looking, http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/o/1326/59/0/2 But there are so many to choose from, like the Aviatik would do well for the 1915 - 1916 period, until newer designs replaced it like the Rumpler. -

The trouble is, that there were so many different types that were used during the war. And many were just stop gap measures until better machines could be developed. Like the Siemens-Schuckert DI DIa and DIb. A complete ripoff of the N-17, but meant to help with the by then obselete monplanes from Fokker and Pfalz. It was powered by a 110hp Siemans-Halske geared rotory where the engine spun in the opposite direction from the prop. By the time they were being built in numbers, the Albatrios fightr was already available, so most of Siemans-Schuckert DI models were sent to the Russian Front. It's just that there were so many different types that were used throughout the war, it will take time to develope them all. Can't happen overnight is all. -
Damage Model Discussion--HPW Campaign DM released!
ConradB replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
George, in the Workshops, you can reduce the strength of you bullets unless you've already done this. I think you can also adjust the size of the "spray" from your guns, along with the AI. Just a couple ideas. -

Thanks Polovski. I have the base CFS3 up to 3.1. It came with the Firepower add-on, but since I don't fly the vanilla version I only use the Firepower disk for the update anymore. Too bad CFS3 was done in the way that it was, as it had good potential, but I never cared for it's approach. I liked the way the 8th used to let the escorts chase the fighters down to the deck, and "beat" anything up on the way home with whatever ammo was left. That would have been neat to have it set up that way. Anyways, I'll just keep shootin' in close until I figure it out. Once I do, I'll knock 'em down like flies. I already have it to where I bring a scout down with 150 to 200 rounds with twin Spandaus, or Vickers. So I'm doing better. But I have been changing my strategy by doing a little damage to an E/A, and letting the squadmates finish them off, even if I don't get credit for it. Seems to be helping with AI pilots in the squadron. They aren't coming missing as often, or KIA. -
Once Upon a Time in the West. Great flick! The only movie where I hated Henry Fonda's character. VonGuber, I did the same. I have a collection of 3 Stooges WWII shorts. Man those were funny!

Damage Model Discussion--HPW Campaign DM released!
ConradB replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks HPW! Very nice explination. I just like to get in close to make sure as many rounds land on target bfore firing, and figured at point blank range, before firing with little or no deflection. And I wasn't thinking about the sniper quality of the AI. I get hit by anything, and the engine immediately begins to fail. -

ConradB replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just out of curiosity, how vulnerable is the pilot? I have seen my rounds pepper the cockpit at close range, and it seems like the AI pilot is little affected by it if at all. It doesn't seem to matter whether I fly for the Entente, or the Central Powers. Just curious is all. Smae for the observer gunners too. Thanks! -

ConradB replied to Underdog's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Underdog, I too was having the same issue. I got this from the Antivir Forum http://forum.combatace.com/topic/50192-off-exe-manager-is-registering-as-a-trojen/ Scroll down to the little proceedure to stop Antivir's little annoying popup. -
Hope you're able to sort it out! Dang that's tough.

When installing the game Doc, did you update CFS3 to version 3.1? I only ask as I did not see that in your description. I forgot to update it like that, and it caused all kinds of goofy things. I'm not sure if Windows 7 has this or not, as I'm still on Vista x64 Home Premium. After you install the game, and before you try to fire it up, 1 Go to "My Computer" right click, then click on Properties. 2 To the left of the window that opens should have list of things to click on. The one you want will be Advanced System Settings 3 A System Properties window should open with some tabs across the top. The one you will want is the Advanced tab 4 There should be a few choices under the Advanced tab, and a "Settings" button for each. The one you will want is under Performance. 5 A new window should open with 3 tabs Visual Effects, Advanced, and Data Execution Prevention. And under the "DEP" tab, make sure it is set to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" 6 There should be a couple buttons, one is Add and the other is Remove. Click the Add Button, and navigate to your OFF.exe file and add it to the list. The same for the CFS3 config.exe To make things easier, I renamed the CFS3config.exe to OFFconfig.exe as I kept getting confused as to which one was which. Also, don't for get to fire up CFS3 once before adding OFF! I can't remember if you need to fly around once before installing OFF or if you can load OFF, and then fire up CFS3. But I always run CFS3 once before I load OFF. Hope this helps! P.S., The DEP issue is because the old Phase 2 used to give a goofy Active X warning, and that seemed to cure it, as I haven't seen it since.
