  1. After firing up the rig the last couple times I get this message from Antivir that says it has detected the OFF exe manager as a trojen. This never happenned before, and I can get it to stop if I disable Antivir while flying. It doesn't cause any issues, but is more of a nuissanse than anything else as it usually happens about 7 to 10 times before it stops doing this. Oh, and this is not while trying to load up the game. This after the initial bootup of the rig. I will see if there is a way to get Antivir to ignore it totally so this doesn't happen anymore, but if anybody has any hints or ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!
  2. Over at Avira's forum I asked about the OFFManager.exe file triggerring Antivir, and it is fairly simple to fix. 1 Open Antivir from your desktop or start menu. 2 From the main window, click on configuration 3 In the next window that opens, there is a list of things to the left, click the plus next to "Guard", unser "Guard" will be "Scan" with a plus box next to it. Click it to open it further 4 The 3rd icon down should say exception. Click on Exceprtion. You will want the second option, "File objects to be omitted for the guard" 5 There is a small button to the left of the Add button. Click the small button, and navigate to the OFFMAnager.exe, and add it to the list. 6 No more false positive issues with Antivir! Hope this helps!
  3. OT: WIP..Dr1drawing

The lobsidedness you mention is probably from the lad using a photograph as a reference. I discovered it some years ago when I was referencing photos for some stuff I was working on. Photographs at certain distances will distort the proportions of subjects like planes and ships. So I got used to buying and assembling a model of a specific subject before sketching or painting it to board. It helps to have a plinth if you wish to show it in a flying attitude. And a height adjustable table for viewing it in a static position. One other artist who made mention of this was Robert Taylor, as he noticed the same distortion prespectively, but went further and did tests if I remember correctly, and wrote a portion of a chapter in one of his books that I once read. But the heart is still there. Still a very good job! Like the portraits you've posted over at A2A Puff.
  4. Is Crossfire supported at all?

The SLi / Crossfire issue is independent of the game. Crossfire should work just like SLi did. Using 2 graphics cards to process the video portion. It's not like the Nvidia PhysX where the game has to support it. Crossfire and SLi are independent. Not sure what setup you have, for your motherboard, or what it supports. I've heard some boards support both SLi, and Crossfire, but my own rig, the eVGA 780i supports only SLi 2 and 3 way. So not knowing what you have I would check to see if the board supports it first.
  5. Just ran a scan last night, and all is well. Funny thing is, if I set Antivir on manual in the properties, it doesn't do it. It's only when it is set to automatically load up when the rig is booted up. So I wonder why if it is set to bootup start, it does it, but if it is set manual start, (fire up Antivir before going online), it doesn't even take notice of it. I even loaded the game up without shutting Antivir down, and it gave me no warning about the OFF exe. I know what works for me on this rig, but it may help others in the future with the same issue. Just have to get used to loading up the antivirus before logging on. Just like it was 10 years ago. Turn off everything and free up as many resources as possible.
  6. Oh no, I wasn't worried. It's just annoying is all. Like I said, if need-be, I can set up Antivir to manual control so it won't start when I power up the rig, but I can start it manually myself before going online. Gonna check out that link. Come to think of it, I think I had Antivir set to manual in the properties section of it's main system setup. So I may just change it, as I think I may have set it to automatic startup with windows.
  7. My First OFF Video

Nicely done there! The DVII is a very nice plane to fly. Too bad they didn't come out 5 months sooner than they did.
  8. Hats off to you folks! The wait was well worth it! A fine job indeed. Now, I hope you all went and tied one on after the release. For you've well earned it! This is almost like firing up the old RB3D, as the transition has been very smooth. Just a little re-aquaintance and off I went. The planes handle very nicely as long as one knows there strengths and weaknesses. That is, knowing what to do, and what not to do with a specific plane. But the attention to detail with the FM is very good, and I noticed that the planes handle pretty much the way the pilots said they did. The Saitek AV8R is nice, as it has twin throttle levers which lends itself to the mixture lever instaed of using a button or the keyboard. It's the next best thing to a throttle quadrant. So if it's ok to ask, is there any projection on the Hat in the Ring add-on? It looks like it will be a nice addition to the game / sim. But I think I can keep myself quite busy for the time being.
  9. Just wondering what the average turn around was for folks in the States, from purchase to delivery. Not being impatient or anything, just curious is all. Not worried either or I wouldn't have followed this from the start. Still remember the old "P1" days. Not that P1 and P2 weren't fun, but they were only appetisers. The real meat and potatoes is BHaH.
  10. Out of curiosity,

Thanks fellas for the info, but everything loaded up fine, and I got right to it. My first mission in an Albatros DIII early was uneventful. No E/A were sighted. Balloon protection mission. The Second mission we tangled with some unidentified British 2 seaters. There were 4 and then there none. I bagged one with 250 rounds of ammo. Got in close from underneath, pointed the nose up, and raked the belly of the beast. He fell off to the the right on fire. Nobody jumped so I'm guessing I hit the pilot, and the observer. 10 minutes later as we approached our second waypoint on the patrol, 8 DH2's showed up. There was another flight of Albatros fighters to our left closing on them, as we came in head on to them. It was great fun! I hit a DH2 twice with around 150 rounds, and he started to smoke, pulled up, and went into a flatspin, from which he didn't recover. So I actually got 2 claims in, but had to make an emergency landing at the nearest German field. I touched down ok, but the engine sounded like it was ready to come apart, so I thought better than to push it, it is better to land asap. Although I must admit that the DIII variant is my favorite of the series. Light on the controls, yet responsive. Recovery from the stall is is straight forward, without any tendency to spin, as long as you apply some rudder input in the direction of the stall left or right. The only drawback being the sesquiplane issue of the lower wing snapping off in a dive. Bit as long as you keep your energy and exploit her good points, she's a rock solid platform. Uncleal, Sorry about the venison being small down that way. Not too many trophies here, but the last one I got gave me a good 80 pounds of meat after de-boning. Although I can appreciate the fish. I found a few good spots on Lake St. Claire where the pike run between 28 and 40 inches average size, and the muskie can run 50+ pounds. The largemouth and smallies aren't bad either. They usually run 16 to 24 inches, and 6 to 9 pounds. But the perch and bluegill are a far cry from what they used to be like. Partially because the bays where they used to stay in no longer have the reeds like they did, so there aren't as many places for them to hide and get really big like they used to. The walleye on the river are good though. And the darn sturgeon are monsters. I saw the tail of one that splashed on the surface about 6 weeks ago, and tail had to have been 2 feet across from top to bottom. They breech to knock the lamprey off, and they usually come off in pieces. So this thing must have been every bit of 6 or 7 feet long.

Exactly Flyby. In truth, if nature wanted to, nature could shake us off like a bad tick if wanted to. To quote the late George Carlin. Where I'm at in Michigan, we had about 4 days of summer this year. It was always cool and or raining. Lake Huron and the rivers and lakes below it were up 2 ft above the normal level, and are anticipated to go up another foot by next year. So if the cooling trend and wet weather continue, the big lakes will be close to what they were when I was a youngster back in the late 60's and early 70's. But the cry for the last 20 years has been that the lakes are drying up, even though they go through cycles of high and low water volume. A discovery was made a couple months ago, where tree trunks were found under the waves of the Lake Huron, complete with root systems and everything, and that the big lake at one time was about 300 ft shallower than it is today. So it goes through cycles and that's about it. Nothing more nothing less really. Anyways, lets get back to flying!

I found this some time ago, that was made in Britain. http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:*&q=the%20great%20global%20warming%20swindle%20video&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wv#hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3A*&q=the+great+global+warming+swindle+video&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wv&qvid=the+great+global+warming+swindle+video&vid=4860344067427439443
  13. Out of curiosity,

Clean install has been a personal guideline as it has never failed me in the past. Thanks for the tip though!
  14. OT Wet Weekend

It's not global warming anymore. It's now called climate change. Since the sun has settled down, and not too many sunspots this last year, or for the last 7 really, the weather has been cooling. Nature does what nature does. Man's effect. Miniscule in comparison.
  15. Out of curiosity,

I'm with ya' uncleal! But my question just got answered 30 minutes ago! It's here! So after I finish with lunch, I'm gonna remove the old P2 version, and reinstall CFS3 3.1 and load BHaH on a clean install. It's always been the best way for me, rather than just upgrading and loading in new stuff. I already have the latest 1.32 patch dl'ed from the other day, so I can pop that in there too. Btw, the lunch mess menu is Venison Steak cubed (about 1/2 to 1 inch in size), with the original Boston Baked Beans from B&M. They were a 2 for one sale, so I couldn't pass them up. Heat venison in a medium sized pot on the stove with low heat until thoroughly cooked. Add a large can of your favorite beans, and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of molasses (depending on your taste) and simmer on very low heat stirring often until well heated. The little boiling bubbles around the edge of the pot that form almost immediately after stirring is complete. Serve with a garden salad, and your favorite dressing, and a couple snifters of a berry flavored brandy. Then fire up BHaH and enjoy a nice afternoon's combat above the trenches.
  16. Finally got everything sorted out from the cross country move last January. Man it's bad in the Motor City. Or should I say, used to be Motor City. Just left the rig in storage as I didn't trust the neighborhood. Got my uncle up north of the city now about 50 miles. Just 5 miles west of Lake Huron. It's so rural here, there aren't any street lights to light the roads. Deer and turkey feed in the yard, which is a whoppin' 5 acres compared to the postage stamp property in the city. Good country folk up this way. So the first thing I did after getting set up online was order phase 3. Got the confirmation and everything so I hope it goes through quickly. (fingers crossed) So I'm looking forward to some good ole WWI flying again but with the game in all it's glory this time around.
  17. Sorry, but zay vood haf to be tvin schpandaus! ok, ok, sorry about that, it's that East Prussian blood rising again! No! Down boy Down I say!!!!! Bad dog! Bad dog! Ok where was I? .......................................................................
  18. Thanks guys! Living rural is fine with me. It's where I grew up before we went west. I like being my own "law" so to speak. But it's funny that we have a wirse issue with coyotes here than we did out in the Rockies. Beside the folks out here look out for each other. My neighbor gave me a 6 point buck saturday for letting them bowhunt on the land. His boys were helpful last May when we first got into the house. Lots of work that had to initially be done and all, and as a thankyou, I have 45 packages of venison in the freezer. Along with the pike and muskie, the largemouth, and smallmouth bass I caught when I was able to go out and fish, I'm almost set for the winter accept for the vegetables. So next year will be gardening too. Thanks for the tips uncleal! I do make a point of reading the FAQ's, and stickies, but that's not to say I won't miss something. When there are many pages, and ideas in them, you can only go so fast. One thing I' am thinking about is possibly upgrading my vidcards from the 2 8800 GTS 512's to 3 260 or 270 series cards for better vid performance though. With the Core2 Extreme quadcore X9650 and the 8 gigs of SLI ready on this monster, it might help to kick things up a bit, and with SH5 on the horizen. Yeah I like sinking ships, especially if they fly Union Jack ensigns, I may want the extra horsepower. The only thing that's been buggin' me is I can't get my HD's to run at the 300 data transfer rate that they claim they run at. I've double and triple checked my cables and jumper setting, and made sure the cables weren't kinked, but they will only run at the 150 transfer rate. Which holds my windows score back at 5.7, where everything else that's tested marks out at 5.9. If Icould just get the data transfer rates up, I think I could sqeeze a little more out of her. Anyways, Thanks again!
