DukeIronHand, glad to see you around! Word is, it runs on XP 32 bit - it just isn't supported or suggested, because Micro$oft isn't supporting XP after April 2014. I saw something to that effect over on the other forum. If possible, try and get a 64 bit machine with Window 7 on it - I've been doing fine, we have not moved to Windows 8 at work and that suits me fine. I know that's way easier said than done, but it's the best I can come up with..

The Barmy OFFers Club: Have you what it takes to be one of the daft, the touched, the Barmy?
HumanDrone replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ooooh, I like that! Transparent background, that is. Little easier to work with, as you note. But I'm still trying to work out which part is upside down... Guess I'll have another round, if Beanie's still buying! Maybe i'll have another round even if Beanie ISN'T still buying. Maybe two rounds. MAybe I'll just kepp going until something looks right side down, or wrong side up, or inside out or something. And I'm 'way too late with my Contact! (tink...tink... tink...) Clear! (Dang work always interfering with my fun!) -

Gee, should we issue an Amber alert? ;) That may get us to New Year's if they don't rel ----no, I can't even type it, Heaven forbid. Dej, that was nice work on the BWOC logo, and I sure got a chuckle over the orientation of the banner. "tis a Badge I'd be proud to wear! And as you can see, inverted is my usual modus operandi... Note to our non US friends: an Amber Alert is a bulletin that goes out when a child goes missing. No offense intended, I just can't pass on a pun.... -
I'm with Javito, too, and esp Adger1971, but with the imminent release of WOFF, I have been on that site more. Though frankly, I haven't been on either forum as much lately; both the work and home aspects of real life have been crazy busy, and I've had very little stick time. I like the BOC and the avatars, medallions, etc. It's cozier here. But I don't want to see a fight start over it, this has always been just as Hauksbee so eloquently put it, something about fermenting...! ;) We'll keep it going somehow!

I think Lou would take option "B"! It reminds me of the joke about the Irishman who would come 'round the pub every day and order three pints of Guiness. The barkeep wondered about this, and finally got to know him well enough to ask about it. The man stated he had brothers in America and Europe, and so every day the three of them would buy a round and reminisce about their youth together on the fair isle. This went on a while, until one day the man came in and ordered only two pints. The barman, nonplussed, didn't say anything at first, but finally screwed up his courage and told him he was sorry about his loss. To which the Irishman replied " Oh, no, no, it's nuttin' like that! It's me, I've given up drinkin'!" /Irishman //Likes Guiness ///ducks and runs away... I sure hope OvS is well & happy...

I was wondering what you good men would do when WOFF came out! but the more important question is, ARE YOU STOCKING THE BAR??? We are looking at imminent release, men, and we must be suitably oiled up! BWOC! BWOC! BWOC! (I can has new badge, or must we wait for release?) -
WOFF released for Christmas.......Oh Yeah
HumanDrone replied to Adger's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I laughed hard at that one! I nominate FenrisWlf for the newest member of the BOC! And START STOCKING THE BAR! Best, Tom -

I'll add my prayers and encouragement. I know at least one older fellow (solidly in his 70's) who is dealing with it, and he says he's "still buying green bananas!" It doesn't seem to be affecting him too badly. Best to you, and keep your hope up and your attitude positive. -

These are just great! It's good to see so many vintage frame in the air - some are just a few steps up from the Wright Flyer! Uh..<ahem> <shuffle shuffle> er... I wonder if we could set something up here to get the high-res originals.... that stripped-off Camel is a work of art! Can you imagine putting one of those together? -

I know that I have trouble with TrackIR whenever the lamp behind me is turned on, or even if the overhead light is too bright. I have the overhead light on a dimmer switch so that I can still see the keyboard but the camera doesn't get confused. The poor camera is simply looking for bright spots of light, so your reflections have to be well above ambient. I'm sure you're aware of that, JimAtrill, but for the sake of others who may come along... Hope you get it fixed! That "two weeks" is getting shorter all the time! -
I can't help you but I'd sure like to welcome you! Perhaps "V4" can help you sort it out. You've found one of the most congenial groups of fellows (and maybe some gals, too!) on the net! I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do; I'm sure Olham will be along shortly to offer to place you on his Pilot's map! Happy flying!

That sounds like an upgrade to what your wife had originally planned! For free! Very, very cool, we wait with keen anticipation!

There's probably no one who will be more relieved than you, Pol! Good news, keep up the good work! -
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great (and safe) ride, And I hope you get lots of pics, but don't let that get in the way of a great ride! I took my son on his first ride on Aug. 17th, There was a small fly-in at our local airport. One of the biplanes (Garmin-equipped, no less!) had a sticker front & center on the instrument panel: "Intentional Straight and Level Flight PROHIBITED!" Your anticipation must be growing. It's Thursday evening...

Hi all! Just spotted this story featuring the off-field exploits of some unidentified Jasta 34 and 25 airmen, and others. It is apparently a new find, and full of candidates for the BOC, judging by their sometimes wobbly state and bottles of champagne, schnaps, etc. Ok, men, you know your mission - go find links to the full set! Best, Tom

For Widow: Kermit Flies a Snipe
HumanDrone replied to CaptSopwith's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You know, my mother & sister live right near there (Winter Haven, FL). For her 85th birthday, my Mom rec'd a pass for herself and half price for 3 more friends or family, from her bank. I had no idea such a rich source of aviation history, knowledge, and hands-on experience was right there. Now, how to go about getting Mom a nice ride in a fully aerobatic biplane? -
Coast-to-Coast: Follow the Arrows!
HumanDrone replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I would too! I just took my son on his first airplane ride at a local airport. We flew over our house, etc - good stuff. And the "bug" bit me again. So I looked up about what it would cost to get a simple private pilot's license. And, at something on the order of $13 - $15K, I thought, "Stick to your Saitek X52, chum..." Yow! But thanks for sharing, that's pretty cool. Now if I ever come across one, I'll know what it is! -
Saw the transcription over at the other site, I'll have to try the video when I get home! Thanks, old chap, I'll head down the apples'n'pears to the car park now!

And then in the comments, someone posted this: "Top-hole. Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's-your-father; hairy blighter, dicky-birded, feathered back on his sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie." No doubt British jargon, but about the only thing I'm familiar with in all that is "pranged his kite" for a crash. I suspect some Cockney slang, but I'll bet even that changes over time - have we any translators about?

Good to see you about, Lou. I, too have been pretty much "grounded" by real life... But over the summer, this near tee-totaller, who in particular never developed a taste for beer, discovered that he actually likes Guiness! (I am, after all, mostly Irish by heriatge...) So, yes, I second Olham: set up the pints! We need to have a pre-WOFF windup, as anticipation is building!

I don't know if this should be denoted OT, but thought y'all may want to look around a SPAD XIII C.1 cockpit: http://www.airspacemag.com/panorama/201245581.html?start=10&page=1&c=y It almost felt like sitting in front of my machine with my TrackIR!.... Tink...tink...tink... CONTACT! -

Tamper: You may be right; I thought it may have to do withe the fuel system. But we'd better shut up, Pol & Winder & the rest will start modding the now-nearly-finished WOFF cockpits and all so that we can watch our planes get refueled before takeoff, and watch the fuel spurt out of we forget to close the isolation valve and pull some negative g's... (just kidding, of course). -

Olham: I don't know what it is either, but it appears to run to some sort of manifold between the rudder pedals. There may be an intermediate valve as well, but you can't quite see past the right front corner of the pilot's seat. Perhaps a vent of some sort? Note the SR-71 cockpit and an Apollo capsule, a 1928 Boeing and a one of the first all-metal planes are viewable as well. The progress from the SPAD cockpit to the Boeing is quite remarkable. The Apollo capsule is kinda disappointing, it won't go up to the panel for me (At least right side up... maybe that's the point...). I took the family to DC once; but kids haven't much patience with old airplanes, neither does my dear wing commander, I'm afraid. So a fast pass was the best I could do. Haven't been there since the new section out at Dulles was created. Glad y'all got some enjoyment. Of course, Olham had spotted these a couple of years back, but hey, that's been a while... and while we wait for WOFF... (anticipation is building, I might note, might think of stocking the bar over at the BOC...) Wheels up, everyone! Tom
