Same here. I might have had an encounter with a R-77 before, I'm not sure what it was exactly. I was head-on with a SU-27 i avoided the first missile by diving to the deck, but the next two i had no where to go. I will however try the tip about turning off the ECM if i happen to meet another SU-27

Ive been flying Falcon 4.0 for a while, but its always been off and on. Recently I've been flying a lot and got a promotion to the 2nd rank. (first time ever for me) In my current Campaign the only mission type available at any allied airfield is BARCAP. These missions are not hard and i understand how to complete them, they are just boring and long most of the time. Is it typical for the game to plan only barcap missions for hours on end? What can i do the help plan more OCA strikes and BAI's?
-
I've managed to get more BAI's up in the mission board. I'm still over run with BARCAPs. I guess after changing the priority settings you need to wait a few in game hours for things to change.
-
I've tried messing with the campaign settings to do what your saying, but i only achieve to stop the BARCAPs entirely, not replace them with other missions. I dont know how many times if read how to do this from the manual. How do you go about setting up flights?
-
Same here. The only ground units are far north. It seams as if its a stand still. DPRK isn't even launching aircraft. Every now and then a BAI or Introduction pops up in the mission schedule, but i have to jump from airbase to airbase in order to find them. I have even tried messing with the mission priority box so we plan less BARCAPs or DCA missions, but no luck.

I am trying to set up a direct IP connection with a friend of mine that got AF. We cant seem to get it connected. Any idea?

Another thing to try is Hamachi. Its not an official Falcon server, but if you and your friends who play Falcon are in the same group with Hamachi, its like your in a lan. Now just run a multi-player lan game and it works just the same. Its a lan over the internet This is now how me and my friend always fly. Its much easier because you dont have to close the game to change types of game IE: Campaign to dogfight to TE.

If you have done well in Korea you should have a promotion. It took me a long time to get my first promotion. To let you know what your looking at my logbook has the following stats: Flight hours --------- 44.5 Pilot Rating ---------- 4.054 AA kills --------------- 29 AG Kills --------------- 40 Missions Flown ----- 39 If your stats are close to this you should be up for promotion soon.

lol, Ive tried this and its not as easy as you would think. The bombing of the targets isn't hard, its finding them. The only infantry units i can spot while doing a BAI or Interdiction are friendlies. But I've started to bomb a little smarter to try to help out with AG kills. I figure if i can get at least two targets per bomb, Im doing good. Find groups and blow them up.

If you feel like labels are the way to go i will sure help you accuracy. I use to use labels, but then chose I wanted to do more realistic flying where there are no labels. Haven't gone back yet. If you want to break the habit, your best bet is to just turn them off and vow never to turn them back on. It may be hard at first, but it gets easier as you fly.

Ive been flying in AF for quite a while and i'm still the same rank. My question is how many hours are required for a promotion to the next rank, and any after that?
-
Just got my first Promotion today. Im now 1st. Lt. If anyone is wondering about time, I have 37 hours logged and a pilot rating of 4.08.

Ive started avoiding BARCAP missions for that reason, but one way to save missile is to tell you wingmen to attack the targets. even though your out of ammo doesn't mean your flight is. you can also use the 20mm gun if needed, but i would stick to using your wing man's weapons first.

Thanks MB. Actually right after i posted this i downloaded hyperlobby and forwarded the two ports. Flew for about 3 hours with a friend of mine in a dogfight. Good time

True this came does take a lot to master but only a little understanding to do well. Start of with the simplified avionics and fly some training missions till it makes scene. Then go for some dogfights. Add in some aircraft on opposing teams and learn the targeting system. If you feel like your doing ok jump into the campaign and have some fun. When it seams like it is getting to easy to play try switching to realistic avionics and fly some training missions till you understand it, then jump back into campaign. If at any point it feels like its all to much, slow down and read the manual for one system or weapon at a time. Learn that one system so you can use it affectively and then master it through use. If your not having any trouble with systems at this point, pick one your curious about and go from there. Happy Flying

If your looking at the 2d cockpit "keyboard 2" and press "Shift 2" you get a zoomed out 2d cockpit. I usually fly from here Im not sure if thats what your looking for or not, but it may help

Sorry no suggestion on how to fix. Ive also never seen this issue. Have you tried reinstalling the cockpits and HiTiles? Also you could try updating your video card drivers

I try to have the lead spot for every flight so i can have control over what my wingmen do in the duration of the mission. However if i get hit or damaged and can no longer continue as Flight Leader ill tell number 2 to take lead. After doing so the rest if the mission consists of them telling me to rejoin of go spread or attack target. I try to continue the mission, but sometimes need to land and abort the mission. The AI lead doesn't seam to grasp that.
-
I've never burned out my brakes. Are you sure you can do that. I have landed got all three wheels down, then held the brakes till a complete stop. No burned brakes.

Does the engine spool up to 20% or not do anything when you hit the start switch? I usually put the throttle in idle for start, then at 20% i got to full, then to idle again. After that i hit the throttle indent switch and the engine opens up to full idle.

Thanks Hag. Im looking for any rank higher than the first rank of 2nd Lt. 1: I figured, it makes scene, but does it take in affect all flights including TE and dogfights or just in campaigns? 2: I do it every time. 3: never knew that. they usually make it home safe and some times better shape than me, but i will try to take better care of them from now on. If been searching around for the full requirements for promotion IE: number of hours required with pilot rating, but have had no luck. If you find anything i would be happy to know. Thanks again

What I usually do is look over the map in the mission selector before I take off. Ill write down all the airfields TACAN Channel that i will be flying over and contact the closest one if needed
