Recommended Reading, Military and General Aviation
DWCAce replied to Fubar512's topic in Military and General Aviation
I move that we split this between GA and mil aviation...and then possibly down to non/fiction -
Thanks for the update! Good luck with the academics.

Out of curiosity, when they check the cables at AF installations, would I be correct in assuming that USN a/c are used most of the time (since they are built to do it repeatedly)?

Just purchased Commanche vs. Hokom. Played the demo, never saw it after that!

It must of been difficult to spot the chopper... you get a nice strobe effect, over reflect water... ugh. -

Once, again, another great team product. -
Malibu, like the others have said, do another intro/discovery flight, just to be sure. After that, I'd recommend going all the way through to the instrument rating. It will help you to be a more professional pilot, as well as giving you more tools to succeed in the air. It's a bit more $$$, but it's worth it. The endorsements are also good to get (tail wheel, High Performance, etc) are also challenges to seek, as well as other add-on ratings (MEL, seaplane, Commercial, etc). Of course, like everything else, it's one step at a time! If you have any questions, please ask! Phantom-> I'm not sure of any flying clubs based @ GDM, but if you're willing to fly out of BED again, I'd recommend East Coast Aero Club. I'm doing some flying with them out of the KASH office, and I've found them to be friendly and professional.

Fuel Management in the Hunter and Harrier
DWCAce replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm not at home right now, but I'm think the Harrier cockpit is in KG, not pounds (though, I could be wrong). As far as using external tanks, only a few a/c show how much fuel is remaining in the externals tanks (at least as far as they are modeled in the game). Once you punch those tanks, off, there's only one fuel level that you need to worry about, and that's the internal tank! When I get home in the next day or so, I'll try to get you some more answers. -
Sad sight...

Jen has been in Ireland for the past month for some courses, and spent the last week touring the country with her friend before she returns. We haven't been able to talk too much the past few days due to the 6hr time difference and the spotty WiFi over there. But I got this on GCHat tonight:

Oooooooh, this should stir some interesting responses...

How many airframes are needed? There's already an airframe out there that can do the job. Being designed with air defense in mind, it's got long legs, long range radar, long range missiles (can carry eight of 'em), is a proven combat veteran, and I'm sure we can find pilots to fly them.. for FREE. -
Help Me Decide

XB-70 Valkyrie

The F-108 seats loaded from the bottom of the a/c. For the B-58 the crewmember climbed in from the top. -
That's sad. I'm pretty sure it was still in operation when I visited in '97. Last year I took Jen down and I couldn't find the damn ride anywhere! argh!
