Yes this is on my must watch list as well

Yes it kind of makes me wonder, as it would seem young Pilot Officers, and apparently 2nd Lt's suffer from the same malaise, how it is that RAF Navigators actually manage to have these missing skills, or is it merely that Navs are selected from the Cranwell/Sandhurst entrants who fail miserably at the piss poor map reading skills course, and is that also why most Navs are miserable buggers , because they really wanted to be Pilots, but they were inadequate in the failure to incorrectly decipher a map reference and knew which was the pointy up bit on a compass

The world's first international race for molecule-cars, the Nanocar Race is on
Trotski replied to Geezer's topic in The Pub
Aren't those cars just a thing of beauty, flowing lines and sensual curves, the perfect "ace" accessory -
yes we were more likely to get severe pokey drill or speed drill, holding an SLR out at arms length in one hand sort of concentrated the mind somewhat, I sort of understand the logic behind this though its to put trainees under pressure, and confusion, ensuring an unwavering discipline under extreme if ridiculous circumstances. However It would not work for any Brit service man or woman, as they would end up pissing themselves at these antics and I also think the Brit Forces want men/women with a brain, not automatons who just act unthinkingly. Our Officers in the RAF Regiment did the same training as all gunners, at the same camp, after doing their stint at Cranwell of course, we used to compete against the JROC entrants, and apart from the fact that they resided in the Officers Mess, they were no different from the rest of us, consequently the understanding between junior Regiment Officers and other rank Gunners was quite good.....except for the map reading, i am sure junior officers were taught map reading skills by a half blind and insane Mongolian bog snorkler, never met a Regiment Zob who could read a damn map properly hahahaha, either that or they just did it to make us Rocks look good and give us something to chuckle about !!

love the observer with the tin lid on !!

Oh good lord, that crap just wouldn't work in the British military, I really do not see the benefit, or actual purpose behind this practice, I have seen several videos of this load of bollox going on in the USMC recruit training, and personally, the DI's make me think of Chimpanzees, I am sure they learned all this stuff from the higher primates ! Yes we got beasted, and bawled at, but there was none of this in your face screaming and shouting, but it was more along the lines of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman , than a silverback Gorilla. I really couldn't see any British squaddie putting up with it, the DI would be more than likely decked in short order. But still each to their own.

Again I have to say, I just wish I had the capability to do some of the stuff , I would love to get in a project , but no 3ds max skills or ownership, and zero idea on creating fm's or anything that involves counting above the amount of fingers and toes I have is beyond me, still learning the skinning trade, and I hope I am getting better at it, I know how time consuming that is in itself, so I dread to think the man hours involved with actually making and perfecting a model actually take, as for the technical jiggery pokery, I would be as useful as a bidet in a gorillas cage ......I love both yours and Stephens work, yours in particular has so much attention to detail, the models could be mistaken for aircraft form really hi end sims. Respect and gratitude to you and all the other model makers and workers of majiks .

I think Stephen has started a craze, it may be the sport of the year, wonder who will get the first recorded rifle kill hahahahahaha..........especially in the MS L the pilot holding the stick between his knees as he takes pot shots

I havent fired up my ROF for ages, I must have a flight or 3 at some point.

Historically the 28 wasn't that good compared to the 10 , I guess that is why the French sent them all to the USAS, as it wasn't that popular with the French pilots, it did the job though, the Americans had a lot of aces on type, but compared to the Spad, or the N 10 , or Camel/snipe or SE 5 it wasn't that great an aircraft, one of my personal favourites is the little Hanriot, a little slow but it handles nicely.

The Arse Team DII/III is actually not bad shape wise, it "looks" like a Halb , however, the FM is most likely up the creek, and the cockpit view.......oh dear, its got a feed chute leading into thin air, and really, they just didnt try at all with the pit. not actually flown the thing because the pit put me off straight away, I was going to do a new skin for the Halby , as you have seen I have done a Kesta 4b skin for the Fokker E IV ( Hannah) I have also done 2 for the Fokker DII, the Fokker DIII's are next on my to do list, so eventually we shall have the whole kesta as per the photo, you know the one I mean , see attached........unfortunately, as much as I hate to say it, Borts Halby, is well past its sell by date, it was fine for FE1, but frankly it doesnt look its best now............Sorry Bort if you are reading this, it's still a better model than I could hope to make ! So I apologise if I offend.

OK...MK III then lol....sorry, being obtuse.

I suppose we could "pretend" your D 5 is a D II maybe just alter the Engine specs to reflect an earlier machine ? It's just a thought by the way, not expecting you to jump in on it , sorry if you thought that, was just wondering if you could do a new lod....but if you haven't got the time, which I know you don't , it isn't a big deal. it would be nice to have a DII/III with the exhaust stack coming out the top of the engine........Like I say, I am unable to attempt anything like this anyhow, as I dont have access to 3DS Max, and also I wouldnt even begin to know where to start !! I for one appreciate the wonderful models you personally produce, and I only wish I had half your ability !! I know I keep coming up with bright spark ideas, i'm just enthusiastic, please donn't think I am being pushy or demanding, as that is not my intent.

F-15 is superb platform, however, like the A-10 and the F-16 it is getting a little aged now, maybe withdraw the 15 from Regular Squadrons, and equip only NG units with it, eventually ( as much as i hate the aircraft) the F-35 will take over, certainly in a BVR sense the F-35 is far far advanced, I suppose one must factor in the age of the airframes, flying hours, etc etc. Is it viable and financially sound to keep it in front line service, also avionics, pilot ergonomics, new weapon systems, can they be integrated into an older airframe. It may be that it just isn't cost effective to keep these older birds in the air. However, I am still not convinced by the F-35, I still think it is (at present) not fit for purpose, as it is far too multi role, if that makes sense, it is trying to fill all the needs of a modern Air Force in one package, and I dont think that is necessarily the best way of doing things, Some roles need a specific type of Aircraft to fulfill their respective roles more efficiently, and sometimes the devil you know is the best option. Even the Russians have updated the Flanker, and created a brand new aircraft, so, a MkII Eagle ? It is always sad to see effective aircraft retired, but that is the way of things, technology and doctrines, not to mention finances , and political ideologies move on, this is why we are no longer flying P-51's and Spitfires.......maybe a bit of a simplistic view, but I think you get my drift.

Ooooh more goodies for me to try out, By the way Geezer, how dificult would it be for you to do a Halberstadt DII version of your D 5 ? I know there are versions of it available from the site that I shall not mention by name , as it will lead me to the irresistable urge to throw insults, and also the one Bort did, however, neither is really either accurate, or in the case of Borts, really up to speed for FE2 I know there were few differenced between the DIII and the D 5 , however the DII have a different exhaust system, and I believe the wing form is a little different as well, As for the Arse teams version, what the heck is going on with that ammunition feed !!

View File Fokker DII Fokker DII A revamp of Stephen 1918's Glorious Fokker D II , I have re done the original 3 skins as I thought the aluminum cowl needed to be lightened up somewhat, and the panels on the cowlings needed a slight tweak. So I have re done the original ones supplied by Stephen, I have also made alternative versions of thos 3 aircraft with painted cowlings, and white bandage markings for the Maltese crosses, I also made one skin in Clear dope, for those of you who like CDL aircraft, it appears that the DII was usually painted , so a doped aircraft was rare, I also did 2 separate aircraft from Kesta 4b one with a black and whirte striped rear fuselage, and the other one was just white, also was not a named aircraft. and lastly I did an aircraft from Kesta 16 with a rather natty eyeball marking and the fuselage over painted with paint smears. I have also included the FM by Von S , along with the early spandau, and finally one of Geezers smashing pilots. sounds decals, and hangar screens are all included or at least they should be. I hope I have included everyone who I am supposed to give credit to, if I have missed anyone out I heartilly apologise, and thank you whomsoever ye may be. You may also notice that I have applied little or no weathering to these skins, that is basically because although these aircraft got very dirty very quickly, I much prefer the model to be shown in "airshow" condition, so if you want weathering, please feel free to add your own to taste, myself, I like 'em looking clean. Sound Mod Question
Trotski replied to Jiver1967's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Are you sure you changed everything in the data file for the weapon itself ? check for little mistakes, its usually something you have input incorrectly or missed off, we have all done it lol.......I assume also the sound file you have made is in exactly the same format as the vulcan.wav ......I have experienced the occasional issue with sound files myself, sometimes they just refuse to work, for some mysterious and unknown reason.
