C 47 Paratroop door
Trotski posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Has anyone seen , or know of a mod that animates the loading / para drop door on the C-47 ? I know its only asthetics, but it looks a little peculiar dropping the Paras out of "some mysterious aperture" in the fuselage , as the Box car and the AN-2 have operating doors, I wondered if this was possible to model on the C-47's we have already..........Also, another question, is there any way of making the Paras, transition into actual infantry when they hit dirt ? or do they just land, and that is it ? -

SF 2 EXE but fully merged..........I shall look for your cockpit mod mate, don't think I have tried it yet -
Engine sounds
Trotski replied to Trotski's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The issue seems to be more prevalent with jet engines, which have a more even sound, whereas a Piston prop, and a radial engine in particular are much rougher sounding, so the underlying what I call looping effect isn't so noticeable. -

No you are getting what I mean exactly, the changing the Idle RPM seems to have done the trick though, although far from perfect, I think I can live with it, I knew the answer would be simple, I have heard your sounds before they aren't half bad at all mate ! -

Yeah UI have experimented a bit and it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference, I am just trying to get a more "phased" sound out of the engines, kind of a quasi Doppler effect. Another question is, if I re record the sound, and increased the length of it, would that also smooth out the sound ? What I mean is, as these are looped sounds, then when they have played fully, for the 6 or 7 seconds that seems usual, then they re loop and that sound when it stops then re loops is quite noticeable on some of the sound files, especially when you increase the throttle, resulting in the "galloping Horse" effect.....So would increasing the length of the sound actually do anything to alleviate this.....Sorry for all the seemingly peculiar and off the wall questions, but I am pretty new to the editing modding thing. So just trying to understand how it works, some of it is self explanatory, but some things are a little more arcane. -

it's a kinda majik !! So this leads me on to the next slightly insane and twisted query. If I adjust the idle settings, for only one of the engines, and not the other, does this actually have any effect on the engine performance, the idea being ( most likely incorrectly ) that as there are 2 differing Idle settings, therefore 2 different sounds, ie an unbalanced engine sound, but obviously if that would affect the engine operation and performance, then, an undesirable and quite possibly rather daft idea........however if it doesn't have an adverse affect, then the resulting sound mix could be ......interesting. -

hmmm ok....I shall take a peek...thanks for that -
Hiya mate, I have downloaded your Glads and Falco , and the Pilots. Now I am aware that the pilots are designed for FE2 however, I have got all 3 Italian pilots working just lovely in SF2 , I also have the RAF Desert pilot working in SF2, but for the life of me, I cannot get the RAF Euro pilots to play ball, and I would really like to have these chaps, as your prop pilots ( the Italian Euro with mask in particular) to use as prop and transport pilots in SF2....any clues as to how to get the RAF Euro bods to jolly well get out of the Officers Mess, and go and fly some Cabbage Crates in a non FE2 environment. P.S. I REALLY REALLY REALLY like these pilots, oh yeah and the German WWI pilot, how do you get it to work with the scarf as there are 2 heads in the file.....a bit confused on that one too.

Yes I know the file in question is a FE2 pilot, but it does actually work in SF2 as well, however, just as the plain pilot, blact helmet and goggles etc, but the second jpg in that file is the head with the scarf round his mouth, how do you get that one to show up in either FE2 or SF2 , sorry I am maybe not being totally clear here. -

I think the file name is New German Pilot ? it has 2 jpgs in there one being german head, and the other one is black winter pilot, or winter black pilot.....forget which. -

If we could manage that then we could manage them transitioning into regular infantry squads after they land, so I guess the answer would be no...........they are pretty pointless really in the great scheme of things, but Hey, I am ever the champion of lost causes !! -
Lookin' good thus far bud !!

The paras themselves aren't really an overwhelming issue, except for the fact they are pretty pointless, however, as an eye candy thing, or AI dropping them, they are desirable, except for the fact when they land, they do Sweet Fanny Adams. and as when I actually drop them, I am more interested in avoiding flak , I don't ( except in testing ) generally go to external view to see what the grunts are up to. It's just mildly irritating that they are for all intents and purposes, training rounds , and are pretty much useless........niggles me when stuff is put into a sim , then doesn't do anything.......So, ( to get back on my point ) I am more interested in getting the Paras to jump out the door not the floor, but I think Wrench and LloydNB have answered that issue, I just have to faff about getting the buggers out the damn door lol lol lol -

Gotcha, I suspected this was what had to be done, but as you know I am only just starting out doing minor modding like this , so thank you for the heads up, I shall have a play and see what is what. It,s a shame the paras don't act as Infantry when they land, I know its all down to game limitations etc. just rather odd, and difficult to complete a mission with success dropping paras, on a target, or near one, which would be the real world scenario. I also think its a shame that when the stick exits the aircraft they don't spread out more like the real thing , these guys parachute like the Red Devils lol -
AN-2 "HEMAAR" V 2.0
Trotski posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
File Name: AN-2 "HEMAAR" V 2.0 File Submitter: trotski00 File Submitted: 20 February 2016 File Category: What If Hangar AN-2 "HEMAAR" HISTORY The I.P.A.F.A units needed a STOL capable aircraft, to enable resupply to forward units, and also a limited parachute drop capability. the perfect aircraft for this was deemed to be the AN-2 "Colt" The Parani Ministry of Defence, purchased a large quantity of these aircraft, to equip the army units. A small number of these aircraft were blacked out for use by the Parani Special operations Group. This aircraft has been in service with the I.P.A.F.A. since 1947, and is deemed still capable for use into the near future. As an additional role, the AN-2 has been fitted with bomb/rocket racks, and is capable of executing limited nuisance attacks. The Aircraft is much loved by its crews, and carries the name HEMAAR which means Donkey , its ease of maintenance and reliability, mean it is a very useful and flexible aircraft. Installation and blah blah I have included ( I hope) everything needed in one package, ie. the aircraft decals, weapons, pilots, and sounds. I have also included a SQADRONLIST.INI, and a NATIONS.INI to allow these birds to show up as a nation and with the correct markings. I have dropped all the respective files into their correct folders so, all you will need to do is unRAR/ZIP/7Z to your saved game folder, and allow overwrites ( if any) I have tested this on a full merged all bells and whistles SF2 so I assume it will work on unmerged too.as I said everything is there to get her up and running, just drop it all as is into your saved game folder and off you fly. I have made 3 different skins for the 2 Army Forward Aviaton Regiments, one of which is a Spec Ops colour scheme, and also one in civilian markings ( Parani Air America clone ? ) the cargo bay door operates by pressing whichever key you are using for the bombbay doors. the aircraft is able to carry light bombloads under the wings, however, be aware, she is slow lumbering, and very easy to shoot down !! This is the final update of this aircraft, I would advise removing any previous versions of the HEMAAR before installing this one, as there may be issues as the resolution has been raised slightly, I have also included lo res ( non wide screen ) screens for the hangar and the loading screen CREDITS !!! Credit for the original model and workings to whomsoever was involved in the original aircraft. I have just played around and tweaked a few things. I could not have done this for you to enjoy without the initial hard work by the likes of Mr Wrench, Mr Paulopanz and all the other fantastic modders on here to numerous to mention, I am an amateur just dipping my toe in a very deep pond !!! This is the 4th Aircraft from the Parani Army and the final one for this set, I shall be doing Navy and Airforce aircraft next, so keep your mk 1's peeled, for more Parani lovliness................ENJOY !!
