About pieisgood

  1. Ace Combat 5 Music

    Ace Combat 5 is life.
  2. I recently learned about the Super Hornet Advanced and thought that would make a really nice addition to SF2. A little searching found some buzz and discussions about it roughly 2 years ago when it was ruled out for the near future. Has anyone picked it up since then? If not the Super Horner Advanced as a whole, is anybody working on CFTs for Super Hornets? Becuase I think those look cool as hell...
  3. Hey gang, its me again! I'm going through a major training regimen for carrier landings, and the birds without HUDS are giving me frequent trouble. So I was thinking, through some clever .ini tweaking, would it be feasible to make it so that when landing the very helpful flight path indicator from a HUD would just float around in front of you and give some guidance? With the absence of a functioning meatball on the carriers, it would be helpful assist to figure out sucesul approaches without crashing so much.
  4. Been grounded for a while, so I felt I'd take an F-15 and get a little practice in... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sometimes you have to get somewhere in a hurry Man, I hope I don't plow into one of those... All in a days work, back to home sweet home...
  5. Any good flight sim with Coop multiplayer?

I think I may have a copy of one of the Series 1 games around here somewhere. Just assuming that I could get it to work on LAN between me and friend's pc's, does anyone remember what the multiplayer was like? What we idealy are looking for is coop missions where we fly in the same group or escort one another etc...Man, why can't SF2 have multiplayer ability?!?!?!
  6. My friend and I went to an airshow this weekend and then watched Top Gun the same day and are now obsessed with being fighter pilots. Therefore we were wondering, is there a good and realistic combat flight sim that is not too complex to manage that offers the ability to fly coop missions? Strike fighters 2 would be the ultimate, bud much to my chagrin, that series does not have a multiplayer component. DCS comes to mind, but I cant remember if it has multiplayer or not, and if it did its a bit on the complex side, but we could manage. Anyway, I hope the vast knowledge here at Combat Ace will help us find the game we're looking for. Thanks in advance
  7. Shoot. Well, I better get to work then. Thanks
  8. I'm curious about creating "custom nation skins" by simply making a few alterations to existing decals of an existing faction (ex. changing "U.S. Air Force" to "[Fake Faction] Air Force"). The reason is that I have a nation cooked up in my imagination that pretty much all U.S. markings but has a different name painted on the side and a tweaked roundel. Is it as simple as opening up certain decals in GIMP and just tweaking them? All the tutorials I've found deal with custom decals from the ground up, so they're not 100% helpful. Forgive me if it's not very clear what I am asking, I had trouble putting it into words for some reason. Nevertheless, any insight would be appreciated.
  9. After playing with the Mescalero Range Map for a while, I said to myself, "This would be great if I could do carrier ops on here too!" So I added some water, changed to Navalmap=TRUE in the ini, gave it a water.bmp and all that stuff. I've gotten it work before, but it is very finicky. Most of the time when the mission loads, I will just get the screen high up in the atmosphere and no control over anything, then when I go back into the editor the carrier as well as the air group has disappeared. Like I said, it has worked before, so something particular is setting it off, but I can't seem to narrow it down to anything. Any help would be appreciated. If you need any specifics or more details let me know, its hard to think of and list everything on the first go.
  10. I decided to celebrate my inaugural post by taking a legend out for a spin. Buzzed the tower the first time but mucked up the shot. On my second attempt I may have...miscalculated slightly. I hit the ground so hard, I turned into an F/A-18.
  11. No, it looked like this for some reason: [EnvironmentSystem] UpdateRate=60.0 InclinationAngle=60 //23.5 Latitude=0.0 //34.0 I changed it to match what you posted previously and the problem seems to have been fixed. Using Alt+C I went through the entire cycle and it looked to be spot on.
  12. I was testing out a custom mission and noticed that is was dark VERY early. After doing a little testing around, I noticed that the day/night cycles in my game are messed up. I happen to know that in the month of November, Mescalero does not have sunset at 3pm and the UK does not experience perpetual night. The only mod I recently added that I can think of having any possible connection was the NIGHT mod (http://combatace.com/files/file/14247-night-mod-for-sf2/) but looking at the ini I cant see any way that it would cause this. Does anybody have any clues as to where I could go in my files to rectify this weird issue?
  13. Perfect! So glad that I'm successfully back to square 1!
  14. Thanks for that tip, I never would have thought about that. Now all 3 folders have Controls, Missions, Objects, PilotData, and Screenshots folders; as well as the Options and Version ini's. Is that all that is supposed to be there once all the games have been run?
  15. So a few days I accidentally and stupidly deleted my saved games folder that contained all of my SF2 mod folders. I uninstalled the main game and reinstalled them, but the folders that appear in my new savedgames/thirdwire folder aren't containing the usual folders. Both SF2 Europe and Vietnam only have a folder named screenshots, while north atlantic has controls, missions, objects, pilot data and screenshots. Does anybody know what is going on here? Just to be clear, the stock games are functioning properly, its just the mod folders that are not doing what they should. Any help would be appreciated, it really sucks to be grounded.
