To add the A-4 cockpit to any otherwise non-flyable, just add this line to the [AIRCRAFTDATA] section of that plane's .ini file (like Mig-17F.ini): CockpitDataFile=A-4E_cockpit.ini

EF-4C, electronic avionics, and Strike Fighters

EF-4C or RF-4C? I'd really like to see someone make a new model for the RF-4C and/or RF-4E. -

View File F-4F JG74 40th Anniversary Med. res (1024x1024) Special paint job to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Gruppe. In case you want the tail art to not be partially hidden behind the nav lights, it will also work on the F-4E. In that case, you will need to edit the Decals.ini file to reflect the different path. I use and recommend Zip Genius, because it works with several different compressed file types (including .zip, 7z ans rar), integrates nicely with Windows Explorer and is free. Zip Genius Website

Yes, I left the tactical number variable, so it doesn't show the correct number for that specific aircraft. I don't have any special connection to the Gruppe, I just really liked the paint scheme!

I found this pic which pretty clearly shows there is a slight taper to the intakes. Another one (yes, I know it's an "E", but I don't think they changed the inlets design from the earlier models) I'm sure most of you also realise that the tops of the intakes can tilt up and down. Compare this with the previous side shots: Frankly, while it's fun to nitpick like this, I don't feel any of the 3D models are superior to others enough to really matter. I don't have WOE, but I do like the F-15 (and other models) from the Mirage Factory.

I'd be willing to help with skinning. (Huge) Caveat: I've never been involved with developing skins of 3D models. I am, however, willing to learn! I've done quite a bit of skinning (~200 skins) for the IL2/Pacific Fighters series and have just started some F-4Fs for Strike Fighters.

What does Il-2 have that Strike Fighters doesn't? A rear gunner in the IL-2 yelling "What the H*LL are you doing?" when you pull negative Gs. Actually, there's lots of stuff available for SF that IL2 fans have been dying for and probably won't get for years, if ever. (He-219, Lancater, Libya terrain, etc.)

AIM-7s and other radar-guided weapons won't fire without a radar lock. The game manual is next to useless explaining how to get a lock, though. See the Radar Operations Guidelines article in the Knowledgebase here for a much better explanation including pictures. Short version is: search, acquire, lock (the yellow diamond), fire. BORESIGHT mode is the easiest and fastest way (for me) to get a lock when in a close-range fight. Of course, if you're close enough for BS to work, then minimum range can be a concern. ;)
