About FlashGordon

  1. I guess I wasn't clear, my computer is XP. I read a thread that said that people with 7/Vista have to put it in System for it to work. I figured I might as well try it, and whaddayaknow, it worked. BUT it still doesn't work in the game, all the weapons have simply disappeared from the hanger menu. I also have no idea why my XP computer needed the thing that Vista and Windows 7 needed, but oh well.
  2. For a long time my SFP1, patched to October '08, wouldn't work with the weapons editor. Whenever I opened the weapons editor, it would work. When I hit Open to access the data file, it closed. After fiddling with all manner of compatibility settings and such, I finally got it to open fully, either when opened from a WinRar or System. I read that fix was for Vista/7, but it worked on my XP...? Of course, after I save the changes I make, there are no weapons in the game... I tried searching the forum and found nothing that helped my situation, but if I missed something just post a link. I have have the exact same problem with WOV.
  3. WOV. Yes, that's one of the textures in question... Mine is missing the Rippers logo, AC tail code, ship's name and USN markings between the wing and horizontal tail fins, and the "VFA-11" written on the upper mid fuselage. It has the USA markings on fore fuselage and wings, the numbers (on yours, 106) work, and (is this correct?) the stepping area on the forward part of the left LEX work, as all those are part of he basic texture but the numbers. I have them where they came, in the "D" folder, In the VFA11_lowviz folder, in the FA-18F folder.
  4. Another rookie problem.... On every new skin I download for WOV (Oct. 08 patch), all but the basic color and texture are missing. The USA marking does appear though. I read all the topics I could find on this, and have triple-checked that the directories in the decals.ini are full, correct, etc. Specifically, the VF-11 skin for the MF F-8D is missing its tailfin markings (but has all others), an F-4B VF-11 skin in the pack posted by Dave 72 here (http://combatace.com...rld-of-f-4bjn/) is missing all the decals, having only what is on the main texture of that skin and US markings. No letters, numbers, Red Rippers insignia, etc. Also the Red Rippers skin for one of the two F/A-18F's named VFA-11_lowviz has the same problem, gray with US insignia and weathered texture, no markings otherwise. Again, I checked all of decals.ini directories in each, everything. Thanks. Oh and same problem for the VF-11 skin Mirage Factory F-14A....
  5. Thanks a lot, that worked. Thank you for all the replies to my rookie mistake!
  6. Mine have always been in Objects, no subfolder. Maybe that's the problem. Thanks.
  7. I tried what should be the compatible weapon editor, deleting the .dat first, making sure aircraft and weapons have compatible start/end years, but still no change. New weapons aren't in-game, changes to stock ones aren't either. Is this a unique problem?
  8. I was talking about how the patch was called "WOV_Update_Oct2008b". I assumed then that the weapons editor which was noted as "for versions of games and updates released in 2008" was for the older games with patches from 2008. The structure of the site seemed to imply that the section of downloads at the top were for First Eagles and SFP2, the section lower for WOV/WOI/SFP1/WOE. But I am new to editing WOV and to this site, and the game franchise, so I am probably wrong about something here. And the only edit to my post was a typo I fixed.
  9. On the Thirdwire website's downloads/tools an utilities section, it says a "Weapon Data Editor v02.20.08 (199 KB) for versions of games and updates released in 2008." and in the same list "Weapon Data Editor v04.24.06 (214 KB) for versions of games before 2008." That's where I got that from. I could easily be completely wrong, though. The update for WOV is from September '08, so I was assuming that is what that was what you were talking about in your previous post.
  10. Thanks for the quick replies. Downloaded weapons still won't work (I know why, I was trying to use the pre 08 weapon editor, which should have worked because I was using it with unpatched WOV) so I still have to download the post -08 editor, which I cannot do for another 3 hours or so. But a huge thanks for the reply, as now the weapons which came with the WEAPONDATA.ini, that came with the weapon editor, are great. All aspect Sidewinders, LGB's, and late model Sparrows, oh my! Also thanks for recommending the patch as my beloved Super Bug now has a HUD, computing gunsight, LGB display, modern era radar/ HUD radar lock displays and more!
  11. I have WOV (unpatched), and have been trying for two months to get various new weapons and changes to stock WOV weapons to work. I have weapon editor, and have tried repeatedly to add new weapons and save changes, but nothing has ever done anything in game; the weapons don't show up when I try to load them on any aircraft, including downloaded ones. Thanks for help in advance.
