Here is a hasty rendition of Hansa 28.69 to fit the really fine model by Laton. Have fun. sinbad
  2. Hi Laton- Got DL and installing now. A thousand thanks. Perhaps someone will be inspired to do AH -Italy terrain. sinbad
  3. I never noticed it before, but the game throws shadows from the upper wings not only onto but through the lower wings. I wonder if it is possible to model (or mimic) the shadows of spars and ribs through semi transparent CDL?? sinbad
  4. FE Sounds V.2 (All new)

Excellent work. I especially like the Spandau and Lewis. Thanks.
  5. The Hun Is Always In The Sun

Hi Geezer- Excellent plan- This game has a significant advantage over others - we can work together to mod it and never mind paying for each mod. You are doing great work. I look forward to the release as you describe it. sinbad
  6. The Hun Is Always In The Sun

Hi Geezer- Have you done any comparisons between the FR with Hi Res and normal size skins? (BTW- these look very good indeed - no sneer intended!) It's good to see more entries into the skinning ward of this mental hospital. sinbad
  7. The Gotha and the Staaken are both part of the First battle of Britain project. There are beta versions with updated cockpits, bombsights, loadouts and FMs. Both are flyable by player and AI and they do take off. Landings are as tricky as they were in 1917-18. The project is not yet ready for release (and won't be for some time) but given enough interest it may be possible to get beta version up soon. sinbad
  8. New User

Hi Lederhosen- It really helps manage things if you install the Generic Mod Enabler. Try this link to get it. It takes a little while to get used to it, but it will be a great time saver and avoid many mistakes later. http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Gene...oad-105848.html sinbad
  9. Got borred

Yes these look good. When will you post? I especially like the Fokker D.II.

Here is an excellent Belgian site with outstanding images of several aircraft including MF-7, HF-20, Aviatik C.I and N-23. http://www.bamfbamrs.be/Bahl/index.php?cat=3 sinbad
  11. One technique I use in skinning is to do an ID layer with numbers or colors. Then render the modded image and you should be able to see the "offending" image. In this instance simply place a large vivid number on each modded tile. It works for me. Of course if the problem is not a reversed tile, this is no help, except that you will know what is not the problem. Edison thought that sort of information was useful.LOL! sinbad
  12. Why First Eagles?

1- Most diverse stable of flyable aircraft. 2- Most challenging and accurate FMs (see Peter01 FMs). 3- Open design - easy to mod. 4- Great pool of skins for the many flyable aircraft (Thanks for the new contributions Quack 74!). We still need more diversity of terrain, missions and campaigns though. . .
  13. Jasta 18 Dr.1's anyone?

Very nice Quack. Well done. Keep at it! I'm waiting on the D/L. sinbad
  14. Right - but the good news is that TK gave us a open design, and as a result we have so many great add ons with solid, well researched FMs. It's great to hear the Peter01FMs are working with the patch. I can't wait to get back home and get them up and running. This was a hurdle for the First Battle of Britain mod. If the Peter01 FMs are good, a major barrier has fallen!
  15. Has anyone tried the earlier Peter01 FMS with this patch? I am away from my desktop and cannot for a while.

  18. This skin set depicts the Albatros D.I flown by Prince Friedrich Carl of Prussia when he was forced down on March 21, 1917; he died of wounds suffered attempting to reach the German lines. There is no doubt (because von Tutchek described it) that the fuselage was painted light green. Some suggest that the field on the fuselage emblem might be red, but it seems to me the better evidence is that the field was black. An additional emblem was on the spinner, but I have not found a way to mount that, given the skin format of this model. It would be impossible to see in the air, unless the prop was stopped! The serial number of this plane was painted over and is not known. Thanks to Gambit168 for making his skin set available as a template, to BortdaFarm for the original model, and to Southside Bucky for advice for improvements. This skin set is the final skin of a series presented to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work of Peter01 who has given us outstanding flight models for so many other aircraft for First Eagles. Without his work, this model and many others would be just pretty pictures. October 5, 2008 sinbad
  19. Something I found today...

OK- Geheimwerks kaput! I have been working on a mod I call the First Battle of Britain ("FBoB"). That mod, which is far from ready for prime time, uses the WOE terrain set first released by Gepard for the Battle of Britain, and the campaign of the same name, by Baltika (thanks to both for allowing me to tinker with their work). There are a vast number of things that need to be done, and the more i do the more I find needs to be done (I am more than willing to hear from volunteers). I have no prior experience with terrain or campaign mods - hence I have kept the FBoB under wraps as I fumble and mutter over the screen. Some of the biggest bits involve the fact that much of the FBoB (especially the Zepp raids) were at night. Hence we need many things that FE does not now have - most notably searchlights. Nevertheless, a lot has been done. In addition to the terrain and basic campaigns, we already have: two Zeppelins (special thanks to P10ppy for a really fine L30 and Hinchinbrooke for the OK to mod his generic Zepp); heavily modded and flyable Staakens and Gothas, with authentic loadouts (special thanks to Capun for help with those) and bomb sights for both of the big bombers (thanks to Dfang); new FMs for the Gotha and Staaken by Peter01, who took time to help despite the heavy workload of his own projects. I have rebuilt all the German, British and French airbases to WWI specs, modded the AAA, and nearly rebuilt the harbor at Dunkerque. The German WWII bases in south and western France are now converted or removed, etc, etc, etc. Meanwhile, Wrench is right, the door to new terrain for FE is open. If anyone wants to create terrain for the Italian front, we already have an extensive collection of skins, and I'll do more. I think that terrain would really be a lot of fun! As a (premature or belated) WIP report, here are some screen shots of the First Battle of Britain- I'll post more when there is more to see. sinbad

Thanks to Gambit168 for making his skin set available as a template, to BortdaFarm for the original model, and to Southside Bucky for advice for improvements. I have included a cockpit adaptation of the Albatross D3 model from the First Eagles Expansion pack. The cockpit mod will not work unless you have the expansion pack. If you do not have the expansion pack yet, you can still use this skin. All you need to do is go into the AlbDI.ini file and modify the lines which now look like this: //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini To look like this CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini (Yes, these references are supposed to read AlbatrosDII not DI). Alternatively you can download the full cockpit mod from CA. The FM by Peter01 is intended for use without the April 08 patch. In addition to the skins, there a sound file which was recorded from a running Mercedes engine. If you prefer the original sound, simply change the lines in the data.ini file which refer to “PropLoopMercedes” to “PropLoop”. This fileset is complete, and includes everyting necessary to load the BortdaFarm Alb DI. If you have other Alb DI skins, place the skin folder in the AlbDI folder and select it in the loadout screen to fly the skin. This skin set is the final skin of a series presented to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work of Peter01 who has given us outstanding flight models for so many other aircraft for First Eagles. Without his work, this model and many others would be just pretty pictures. October 5, 2008 sinbad Click here to download this file

File Name: Alb D.IIL Scheller Jasta 19 File Submitter: sinbad File Submitted: 1 Oct 2008 File Updated: 2 Oct 2008 File Category: WW1 Aircraft This skin set depicts Albatros D.II D.1729/16 which was flown with Jasta 19 by a pilot named Scheller, first name unknown. Scheller was credited with four victories, which makes his partial identification a bit more interesting. If you have more information about this plane or pilot, pleease let me know. He was wounded in January 1917, and then served briefly as the C. O. of Jasta 2 (then Jasta Boelke) in early 1918. Hohne flew with the Luftwaffe in WWII, attained the rank of GeneralMajor and died in 1969. The files include hangar and loading screens.
