F-102 weapons
CoopF4 replied to krgf15's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Great info! Always helps to have a source be someone who was there. Did he make any mention of the AIM-4E, AIM-4F, or AIM-4G models on the Deuce? -
F-102 weapons
CoopF4 replied to krgf15's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
So it would seem the in its later years, the F-102 carried radar-homing AIM-4A's and IR-guided AIM-4D's as its principal weapons, with some aircraft modified to use the AIM-26A and AIM-26B in the center bay. Anyone know if certain variants other than the AIM-26 were limited to certain stations. For example could IR AIM-4C's be carried in any of the six weapon stations? Could radar-guided AIM-4A's be carried in any of the six? I'm sure the fit was usually three of each type of guidance system, but I'm just asking for interest's sake. -

So the F-102 carried all variants of AIM-4 except for the F and G? Even the E? -
Gents, I have a few questions regarding the F-100 and its various drop tanks and I was hoping you folks could help. If you read anything about the Hun, you always see mentioned that the F-100 carried four types of drop tanks throughout its service. Each inboard wing station could carry a 200-gallon external tank, while each intermediate station could carry a 275-gallon, 335-gallon, or 450-gallon tank. I'm confused to to which tank is which on the intermediate pylons. The default tank in the TW series says 335-gallon, but it seems so big I wonder if it's not actually the 450-gallon tank. Are other sizes than the 335-gallon tank available for the games? Also, I was trying to find some camo tanks, and while I found them, I can't seem to get them to work. The new file structure makes it such that I don't seem to have the correct files when downloading the Camo tanks. Can anyone help me with exactly how I go about acquiring camo tanks for my F-100? I understand that you must create a folder for each weapon type in the weapons folder now, but I still think I'm missing some files for these tanks as the download only comes with two files, neither of which even seem to match (different file names). Thanks for any and all help. (Oh and can anyone suggest a good afterburner effect for the F-100? The default one for WOV just doesn't look right to me.

Looks like some nifty stuff there guys, I'll have to give it a try! Thanks! I guess I'll just have to forget about the external tank issue....seems to be a lost cause. Just out of curiosity, did the F-100 have internal ECM and chaff/flare dispensers or did you add those just for fun? -

I'll have to give it a try. I don't think SF2 is an option for me as I don't think my computer will run it all that well. Thanks for the help. I sure wish someone knew the answer to my question about the various drop tank sizes though. -

Any other good resources for the Thirdwire series where I could find an answer to this. Any suggestions are appreciated. -

I created a new folder in the weapons folder for them, and put all the necessary files in there. I made sure the attachments were correct in the F-100Ddata.ini and I made sure to run the weapons editor. I would think that would cover all necessary steps. The link you provided just took me back to the main page of the forum. Is the file gone from the site now? -

I tried the High Res F-100 to see if that made any difference and the camo tanks still don't show up though they are loadable as I mentioned before. I must be missing some 3D file or something. Just to clarify though.....the default "335 gallon" tanks are actually the size of the real-life 450-gallon tanks? Are the camo tanks the correct 335-gallon size or are they 275 gallon? -

CoopF4 replied to CoopF4's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There is an issue with using the Hi-Res F-100. I don't think my computer will handle it all that well. I've tried High-res airplanes before and my system just bogs down. I did try using the tanks for my regular F-100D by changing the attachment (i.e. fuel tank) type for the existing intermediate wing pylons (i.e. where the 335 tanks go), and they did show up as options in the menu, but when starting up a mission, they don't appear under the plane although they are there (if you hit the jettison tanks button the game confirms they were jettisoned). Must be some issue with the 3D files. I did find one file with regular resolution camo tanks, but it doesn't seem to have the required files for them to work. Anyone have any other suggestions? Anyone here using camo tanks of a certain type that they prefer? Oh, and for the record I didn't intstall the complete Hi-Res F-100 package because I'm fairly certain it won't work on my system. By the way, I appreciate the help and responses I've received so far. -

Oh, I know how to make different tanks available for the same plane. I'm just trying to figure out what other options are even available for the F-100 aside from the default 200 and 335-gallon examples. I'm running WOV for the record. -

Does anyone at least have any suggestions on where I could look. I can't seem to find anything here. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. -

We're talking F-102's......no hijacking going on that I see. :) Is that your site though? If so, you have done a wonderful job, and one that is probably greatly appreciated by the folks who play this game. I know I like to make sure I get accurate loadouts on my aircraft, and where else on the internet can you find the actual accurate list of weapons carried by the Banshee (for example). Great job! -

Aside from the TF-102 document, the others refer to the F-106 (which was known as the F-102B originally). The TF-102 had the same armament fit as the F-102A though so that document at least should still be useful. Odd that the person who put up the site (which looks to be chock full of interesting information) didn't notice and make the F-106 its own spot on the page. -

I've been tinkering around with the Deuce, and I've made some rather interesting changes that I feel work well for the model. First off, I managed to move the external tanks forward and inward just a bit. I noticed, they weren't quite centered on the pylons and by comparing them to the 1/48 scale F-102 I have sitting on my computer desk (ironically in SEA colors), I noticed they were a bit far back so I changed those values too. I also changed the rockets from the 5-inch HVAR type to the smaller 2.75-inch type by making a simple copy of the 2.75-inch weapon and turning off the "Rocket Pod" checkmark. They are nowloadable, which is great because it greatly reduces the weight. The real Deuce used the 2-75-inch rocket anyway. Finally, I think I've found the perfect weapons loadout in the data.ini (i.e. the ordering of the station ID's and such). My only limit is that I can only load one missile in the center bay (using the Genie station for that now). Going to keep tinkering around with it....maybe I can figure out how to add and second "Genie" station and get that sixth missile in there somehow. I saw on a recent thread that someone has figured out how to get that sixth missile. Maybe I can too. Again, there are probably people working on this stuff, but I've got some fixes if anyone is interested. Just trying to see what help I can be in this project. Thanks all. -

I'm an absolute -102 nut so this package is something I've eagerly awaited for quite some time. I sent Veltro a message asking if I could help out because it seems there is a big discussion going on regarding the various weapons and stores carried by the Deuce. I'm sure he's gotten a ton of PM's from people asking to help so maybe mine got passed over. I couldn't pass up the chance to see if I could provide any help on this project so I thought I'd post some information regarding Deuce weapons and stores. If it's been covered, then my apologies, but here it goes: Underwing hardpoints: One 230-gallon (as opposed to the 360-gallon tanks of the F-106) external tank (jettisonable) for each wing. In one instance there is a photo of a Deuce with an SUU-11 minigun pod mounted under the port wing on a TER, but this appears to have only been a trial and the gun pod itself was never wired to the aircraft's systems and thus not ever fired. It was a 509th FIS bird that was modded apparently. The weapons bay is comprised of three separate bays, with each bay having room for two missiles, and covered up by two doors (thus, six doors total). The outboard bays were used for AIM-4 Falcon AAM's and the inboard door on each outboard bay (if that makes sense) had rocket tubes for six rockets (thus 12 rockets for the outboard two bays). The centerline bay was used for AIM-4 Falcon as well as AIM-26A Nuclear Falcon and AIM-26B Super Falcon AAM's. Each door for the centerline bay had rocket tubes for up to 12 more rockets (thus 12 for the centerline bay and 24 total). If the AIM-26 setup was fitted, then the larger dimensions of that missile meant that smaller (i.e. thinner) bay doors must be used for the centerline, thus deleting the rocket tubes. In short, the Deuce had the following weapons options: Two tanks, six Falcons, and 24 rockets OR if AIM-26's were carried the maximum number of rockets was reduced to 12. Keep in mind that the AIM-26 when carried was only cleared for the center bay, limiting the number of that weapon to two. I have a great idea for how to setup the data.ini in terms of the weapons stations that will allow various combinations of Falcon types (i.e. radar, IR, and the Nuclear/Super variants) as well as the rockets to be carried. Tanks too. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I'd really like to help with this project. Thanks to all who are doing work on this great plane. You've made my year with this release! -
Mirage Factory Weps Pack (Jan. 09)
CoopF4 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Is this pack only for SF or WOE? I tried installing it in WOV, and everything seems to be working, but there is no AGM-45 Shrike for some reason. I've been trying to load it on my F-100 (among other planes) and it's not showing up. I checked the weapons folder and there was only a folder for the AGM-45A. I clicked on it, and there is an ini file, but not .bmps and the other stuff I presume is needed for a weapon to show up in the game (.lod files perhaps) So my question is really two-fold: 1. Is the latest Mirage Factory weapons pack supposed to work with WOV, and 2. Is the AGM-45 an exception rather than the rule as far as missing weapons goes? As a bonus question, is the Mirage Factory the place to get the latest and greatest weapons packs now (as opposed to Bunyaps?)? Thanks for any and all answers to these questions. -

I have all American aircraft in the game as NATO on all their attachment points in addition to USAF or USN depending on the plane. I've also used the weapons editor to click the boxes for NATO, USN, and USAF for the Shrike. It's still not appearing on certain planes. I'm almost out of ideas. -

Okay so I extracted the files for the Shrike from the objectfile.cat and the missile is appearing now. The weird thing is that I can only get it to appear on USAF or USN jets....not both. Should I class it as a NATO weapon? -

Oh believe me I checked the year as well as attachment type. The missile doesn't even show up on other aircraft I have it loaded on (the F-105 for example). For some reason, it seems to have been included without any 3D model files or stuff like that. Anyone else had this problem with the Shrike in their weps pack? -
I'm looking for the tutorial on adding an audio-only RWR for my stock F-100D. I can't remember how to do it, but I thought it was in the knowledge base. I can't find it though. Anyone have the link?

Just downloaded your new bird, and I must say you've got the makings of a very good mod. I've been waiting for this one for a very long time as it's my favorite Century Jet. I probably pestered you about it some time again when I learned you were working on it. Thanks again for a job well done thus far. I know this is a Beta model and there are some changes you still have to make, but I wanted to make sure you knew for sure about the weapons loadout of the F-102 during its career. It in fact did not carry the Genie, while the nuclear tipped weapon for the Deuce was in fact a variant of the AIM-4.....the AIM-26A Nuclear Falcon. I believe the AIM-26B Super Falcon (conventional variant) was fitted to the Deuce as well. AIM-4F and AIM-4G were in fact only carried by the F-106. Anyways, I'd love to send you a PM with all of the information I have on the Deuce and the stores it carried. I've read a ton of books and other material on it, and though I don't consider myself an expert, I have researched the airplane rather exhaustively as it is indeed one of my favorites. If you are using the 4xFalcon/1xGenie loadout as a temporary hold from the F-106 (noticed the maximum allowed Mach in the data.ini is 2.31 so I'm assuming its based on the -160 data.ini) and you have the information I just mentioned then I understand, but I just thought I'd try to help you out if you needed any. Just let me know. I'd be more than happy to help you out with this type of information. (Be nice to put all this useless knowledge in my head to some good use.) Again thanks for your efforts. Can't wait to see the finished product! -

I'll probably be sent to the gallows, but I agree with one of the above posters. I find the F-102 a better looking airplane than the F-106. The Dart is still a beautiful plane, don't get me wrong, but there is something about the Deuce I've always fancied, and when talking about the Century Jets, the Deuce holds my heart. -

Good luck! I'm only an amateur modder, and I have no experience with things like FM's or 3D models, but I just wanted to say thanks for taking on the project. I've been wanting an F-94C for a while. It's my favorite pre-Century USAF interceptor. Hope the project goes well, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
