  1. Actually I have read and reread verything quite a few times, I've also changed settings a number of times with the same results. What I'm looking for is someone with the same card and basic system. So yes I did read it, and yes i will continue to bump around as you say until I find the answer or give up, which is what happend with Red baron eventually. maybe this is as good as it will run on my system, I'm not sure.
  2. By configure what do you mean? I set the resolution at 1050 x 1680 x 32, I set the antaliasing at 0. As far as other settings I was hoping someone also had an 8800GT, and could try there settings as well. As far as iRacing goes I have that set and it works very well. I think you can strike a balance where all the sims you can run , are smooth enough to make them realistic. I've had systems that run all the "eye candy" and in the end it doesn't make the sim any better. I'll take smoothness over eye candy everytime. But with this system I have now, everything is a bit of a compromise anyway.
  3. It was a great paperback I use to read over and over, just wondered If anyone else read it and what they thought of it?
  4. Just started this great sim and wondered what your opinion was as to the easiest aircraft to get kills with in OFF? I went up against the Fokker DVII and was immediaitly consumed. that is one deadly aircraft. Wierd this is it really isn't even part of the Fokker "scourge". Also I tried using just the straight ahead pilots view and can't keep track of the enemy aircraft. If I use an outside view its easier to at least know here they are.Usually If I can get on there six I can stay there, unless they go out of view and then I'm lost again.
  5. I'm not sure whether this is a cure, but I had the same exact problem as well. I have found that If I'm not in the cockpit, and I'm say in an outside"view" looking at the aircraft, and i hit the M key the map doesn't freeze. I'm not even sure If it works allthe time, But I did play about 4 hours wity it over the weekend and it worked ok. Something to try anyways. Besides If i stay in cockpit view i never even see any enemies coming, all I hear is machine guns and I'm either in flames or spinning like a leaf !
  6. I'm hoping someone with a similar system can give me there settings for running OFF.(no don't run off please !) This is the system I have: Gigabyte P35-DS3L, Intel E6750 duo-core 2.66 Ghz, 2Gb ram,Nvidia 8800 GT video card with 512 memory. I have read the FAQ's and what to set, but according to a few people I really need to tweak this to get it to run well,so I'm asking for some help. Right now I have the settings all at 2, except for clouds and texture which are at 1.It runs ok with fps around 50-60, but near the ground it tends to stutter a bit, especially when i use rudder for some reason. All my other sims especially iRacing run great, so I would rather stick to adjustments in the sim itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I can't say it enough this is one very great sim !
  7. Thats the thing, I think the reason for the slight stutters is when I'm close to the ground where there are lots of trees. I'm just not sure where to change that for just the ground textures. I did read somewhere in the User interface, that you go to a hanger and then hit something, and that gets you into somewhere where you can change these things plus things like shadows.
  8. Hey guys , I was at SimHQ, but was told this is the place to be, so here I am. I have read the FAQ's page, but I'm still a bit hazy on a few things. First and this will probably sound crazy, how do you turn down the music and effects in the User interface, and when I start a mission, the startup of the engine right after the guys says "Clear!". Don't get me wrong the music is great, but for some reason the rest of the ingame sounds are just right, but the music is really loud !! I did try turning the general sound down , but for some reason the music is way louder. Yes i know you can shut it off, but I did try that and nothing happened, besides as I said the music is really good. Next is getting the sim to run smoothly ,here is my system: Gigabyte P35-DS3L, Intel E6750 duo-core 2.66 Ghz, 2Gb ram,Nvidia 8800 GT video card with 512 memory. So far I can run it at 1680 x 1050 x 32 with everything at 2 except clouds, those when on 2 turn it into a slideshow. I have heard you can turn shadows off, but I got lost trying to find it, someone said click on hanger, but wasn't sure where that was. Any of you familiar with iRacing should know i can run that easily with framerates in the 100 - 250 range. I'm using a Thrustmaster T-Flite Stick X BTW and it seems to work pretty well, although I haven't programmed anything yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
