  1. The whole thing sounds like Marx Brothers vs Three Stooges.
  2. OK. It just came in the mail. Should have a track IR4 soon...........Question.......the CD says Release v 1.0 on it. is that correct? Aren't we in v 3? Chaffing at the bit to learn to land.
  3. S.E.5A.....

Whats the point anyway? Are there any enemy craft to combat? If all your doing is flying around over your neighborhood you may as well be in a Piper. Maybe a Stagger Wing Beech. I mean I've worked in neighborhoods that could use some "urban redevelopment" and an attack from above would bee a great method, but I'd use an A10 or Cobra for that. I do know that if it were a Snipe and not an Se5, at least one person here would have bought it.......................
  4. I GOT IT! my OFF CD

Haven't even played CFS3 in a long time. Tried to play today and found I don't know how to land.....you know with the plane and pilot intact. And with only the hat switch on my sidewinder the view really sucks. Think I'm going to have a lot of pilots named "A" through"Z" until I figure stuff out and start serious campaign.
  5. I couldn't find a thread that mentioned this previously. Sorry if this is a repeat question. A buddy of mine is thinking of buying OFF now too. He mentioned we could then fly together. Can we both fly/crew the same two seater? I remember playing Air Warrior several years ago. The ground graphics were poor but the aircraft were nice. In that game you could join the crew of a B17 and go bomb enemy targets deep behind lines. It was an on line game where around 100 players representing 3 "countries" played against each other. It was fun having a "live" person in the rear of a Me110 to cover your 6 while raiding an airfield.
  6. Snipe! Until they add it I'll have to be satisfied with my un-built 1/72 scale kit..............Albatros seaplanes....hmmmmm
  7. Crew Two Seaters?

I will get team speak then start playing with my friends from across the pond. Gonna be about two weeks before the new computer and all the add ons will be up and running. Seems like since I retired I'm busier that when I was working.
  8. Crew Two Seaters?

I recently retired and intend to make my wife a "game widow". Sunday nights will be OK with me.....gotta learn to fly first.....
  9. A heartfelt PLEA to the Dev Team

Maybe what we need is another expansion with a few new aircraft (Snipe, Handley Page 0/400, Comic Camel. Call it the home front expansion) while we wait for P4............I hear a chant in the back ground....it becomes louder, more understandable..........Snipe, Snipe, Snipe, Snipe, Snipe, Snipe............................
  10. Question about TrackIR

Gonna get it for sure now. So I can fly a Snipe next to Widowmaker...................................
  11. Question about TrackIR

Speaking of trackIR. I haven't ordered mine yet. I have heard it is sensitive to glare. I wear glasses and can't see well without them. I cannot wear contact lenses due to scared corneas. Anyone have trouble with reflection from glasses interfering with the TIR's?
  12. Boneyard

When I was a teen in the Seattle area. I saw a scrap yard along the waterfront with a large bright yellow "tube" on a pile of scrap metal. Went back with a friend later. We climbed over the fence by the freeway and got closer. It was Sea Lab 3 the final undersea habitation project the Navy had been doing in the late 60's early 70's. Before we got run off the property for trespassing, we were told even though it was something of scientific and historical significance, it had been sold for scrap and since it was made of titanium, it was going to be made into razor blades. Being a big Sea Hunt fan and loving anything SCUBA or under water, I was appalled such a piece of history didn't go to a maritime museum.
  13. Hi all. I thought I might have seen a thread on this before but can't find it. Maybe you can refer me to it. I am going to buy a new computer so I can play this game. I have red the FAQ about what is required and that doesn't look like a problem with all the systems out there. It's just that pretty much all the vendors selling systems have 2 and 4 core processors. I thought I read somewhere that that is not optimal for OFF. As I mentioned before, I am not too bright when it comes to computers, so I figure I will buy from Dell or Gateway or Best Buy........Will a dual processor rig still work with OFF? In addition, the computer will actually be used for other things so if I don't go with the "modern" multi processor system with I suffer a "loss" when using other applications other than OFF? Thanks.
  14. I was a hostage negotiator for years. Its more likely they'll hear a single gunshot and find him dead than he comes out shooting. He's a weak willed women killer. He won't face a hail of gunfire. He kills himself or gets taken quietly after a stand off where he gets his last little bit of self perceived control.
  15. Hi all. As I mentioned when I first showed up here I'm not too computer savvy. I recently came across a photo of a .12 ga belt fed remmington machine gun. The guy who sent it to me said it is a WW1 design for air combat. He said it came too late and was not mounted on any aircraft as it was too expensive and piolets would wast ammo. I haven't been able to find any info on it. I would like to share the photo with you all but as I said I'm not too computer savvy. The photo is in my e-mail now. Someone give me a step by step on how to "cut and paste" and get it from my mail to here and I would be thankful. Remember, be nice and use small words while speaking slowly so that I will understand.
  16. Machinegun shotgun

I had similar thoughts about how effective this gun would be. First it would have used smokeless powder like all other guns of the time. Smokeless was invented about 1894. The same time Winchester produced the model 1894 in .3030 win to take advantage of the new powder. The last time the US used black powder was the Spanish American war. Some of our soldiers were still issued 1873 Trap Door Springfields. The bigger problem would likely be the paper shotgun hulls. They would be subject to swelling and breaking and moisture. Our boys had the same issue with shotgun ammo in WW2 and into Viet Nam until plastic hulls became the norm. I also agree that a belt of ammo would be heavy and bulky. It is amazing how WW1 caught the progression of technology and rode the wave. The airplane is invented only years before. Smokeless powder is invented. Machine guns. Electricity. Telephones. The list goes on.
  17. Machinegun shotgun

Lets see......1" spread per yard, 8 30 cal pellets per each .00 buck round, 350 to 400 rounds per minute, velocity 1500 ft. per second, if your 10 or 20 yards from your target you may be able to do some damage. Add in the 1 ounce rifled slugs every few rounds and in close you'd shred a WW1 plane.
  18. Machinegun shotgun

Here goes..........hope you don't get those pictures of the wife...........
  19. New Nvidia Drivers

OK. I continue to suffer from confusement and trouble making a decision. I am in the process of purchasing a new computer so I can then buy OFF and start getting shot down. I have read the spec required to play and thought it best to exceed them. Now I don't know what kind of video card to get with the system. In addition it seems most computers out there (Dell, Gateway) have dou and quad processors. Then while lurking around here I find mention the multi processor may cause problems. The systems I have been looking at mostly have Win 7........ What to do.........what to do.........I know once I get this sorted out my wife also will me a computer game widow.
  20. OT, Daft UK Laws

When I was a kid in Virginia (1964?) I was kicked out of a grocery store for being in the aisle with the toys and games. I was just looking, but it is against the law to buy toys, candy, soda or liquor on a Sunday. In Riverbank Ca. we have a city ordinance against dancing in public. In Seattle is is against the law to tie off your horse in Pioneer Square. According to the California Vehicle Code, it is against the law to leave the scene of a tobbogan accident.
  21. By Any Other Name?

Good Lord! Somebody remembers who Ernie Kovacs is?! German: Otto Krashenburn, Karl Brokenstrutt Britt: Willy Groundloop Had some French and Yanks on my mind but am suffering brain fade...need coffee. They'll come to me.
  22. I was a cop for 24 years. Just retired end of March. The head shot is the snipers number one choice. After that the center mass (heart). Of course that's for planned SWAT type actions. In a sudden shootout head shots are unlikely. You shoot until the threat is ended. Usually means a lot of rounds center mass. Yeah a .308 is a great round but shot placement is very important. If you don't cause enough rapid catastrophic damage the suspect still remains a threat if any of his motor functions still work. Just like turning your 6 to a smoking burning opponent in this game; he's gonna die but he can still get you.
  23. Actually its shoot to stop/neutralize the threat, not to kill. If you shoot to kill, the family of the dearly departed have a better wrongful death lawsuit against you and your department as you had a premeditated action which of course is to murder. The fact that the best way to stop the threat also happens to be a bullet through the eyebrow ridge to disconnect the brain which in most cases causes death, is unfortunate............
  24. Yes, I transposed the e and u. It is Fleury. It got Americanized with the move to the States. Evidently, it means flower or place where flowers grow. Blume is not a big reach for me...... Walter certainly appears to have done his bit for the cause. Did he survive?
