I Don't Know Anymore Which is the Best WWI Sim!
ThePlainsman posted a topic in WWI Flight Sim Discussion
More than 10 years ago, it was RB3D. Over the last couple of years, it's been various iterations of OFF. Yesterday, I purchased ROF:Iron Cross Edition and it has blown me away! I didn't like the original everything on line, no SP, no campaign, get only 4 planes, original ROF. I tried the demo, was impressed with the graphics but not enough to take the plunge. So, I waited. Then ROF:ICE. Wow! Double wow! I'm no longer sure which WWI sim is the best. Here's what I have on my hard drive: Red Baron 3D wtih Full Canvas Jacket Combat Aces (for CFS2) First Eagles I First Eagles 2 Over Flanders Fields: Beyond Heaven and Hell with Hat in the Ring Expansion Rise of Flight: Iron Cross Edition Could ROF:ICE be number 1? It seems to have everything, but I've only had it for 24 hours. What do you fellows think? Which is the best WWI sim available? -
I've started watching every episode on Netflix. The series is not in hi-def, but it still looks good and is pretty cool. I have the original TV series on DVDs. All three years. The original is my favorite, but I really enjoyed Voyager when it was new. Always liked it better than Next Generation. I just couldn't get into Next Generation. I think it was the casting. I just didn't like the casting or see any chemistry between the characters. Anyone else watching any of the old ST series?

What gives with FSX and A.I. Traffic programs? What am I doing wrong? First, let me explain what I mean. I also own FS2004. I've used Traffic 2005, Ultimate Traffic, and MyTraffic. With all three, all I had to do was install and go to Free Flight, and there on the screen would be a massive queue of planes lining up to take off on a runway. It was so realistic! I would IMMEDIATELY see planes landing at the same airport on other runways. At the larger airports there was constant taking off and landing just like real life busy airports. It was thrilling. But this doesn't happen with FSX! I've tried MyTraffic 2010 and Traffic X. I go to busy, big city airports. I see airliners docked to jetways, but no planes are landing, no planes are queuing up to take off, I might, MIGHT, see one plane in the sky and that's one out of ten boot ups. I have air traffic slider turned all the bloody way up to 100%. There is nothing happening. It's so quiet. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I have to do with FSX to create frenetic airport activity that isn't necessary with FS2004?

Traffic Programs Don't Work in FSX?
ThePlainsman replied to ThePlainsman's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
That can't be the solution. I would think the developers of programs like Traffic X and MyTraffic 2010 X would be well aware of this problem and include a solution. No? -
I'm DX10 Preview all the way. Not only are the graphics superior to DX9, my framerate is 100% higher. DX10 rocks! As to the add-on aircraft issue, I recently purchased a fleet of A321s that are DX10 compatible. Today I bought the Lincair IV-P--DX10 compatible. I loaded a freeware Tiger Moth (WWI) that is just gorgeous. It is also DX10 compatible. All the add-ons I want are DX10 compatible. I simply won't buy one that isn't. I even some freeware that are DX10 compatible. I also have a payware A.I. traffic program installed, and REX2 + Overdrive. They are all DX10 compatible. Finally, I have a few ORBX airports that were free. Yup, DX10 compatible. It doesn't make sense to me to settle for poorer graphics AND half the framerate in DX9. It doesn't make sense not to fly with DX10 preview checked.

I received the G940 for Xmas gift. Love it. Unfortunately, OFF BH&H doesn't seem to recognize the throttle. Everything else works as it should. Anyone using the G940 with OFF and have the throttle working or can tell me how to get it to recognize the throttle? Much obliged. By the way, the G940 works well with ROF and IL2 1946, but the throttle doesn't seem to be recognized by older titles like CFS2 and CFS3, and so far, OFF. Please advise.

Thanks Vasco. I'll give that a try. If it worked for you, it should work for me. I love this HOTAS! I didn't realize completely how much I missed force feedback. To get it in a HOTAS is the best of all worlds.

NR2003 and Windows 7
ThePlainsman replied to Rodster's topic in Racing Simulations General Discussions
I don't know what DEP is, but I have no trouble running this on my Win 7, 64 bit PC. I didn't have to tweak a thing. It just worked from first install. All the add-on tracks also work.
