  1. It's really too bad. The cities are the weakest part of the 3W terrains in my opinion. They really end up detracting from the rest of the terrain.
  2. When they guide right, they're great, I agree. But the problem is getting them to do that. I've noticed that if I'm not like 2 miles out and in at least a 15 degree dive, they'll to this weird pitch-up thing and fly off into the middle of nowhere. It's REEEEEEALLY weird.
  3. The weird guidance issue JDAMs seem to have turns me off to them, though. Plus they're not really an option in a mission set in 1987... XD
  4. I have unfortunately not been able to find concrete dimensions. As for color, it seems like the live variants used for testing had the same color scheme as the one in the pictures I posted, but with a yellow stripe around the nose as opposed to a blue one. This can be seen in the video KJakker posted.
  5. Boredom or the desire to visualize the ideas my mind comes up with. For example F-111s with F-15E avionics, F-14D Quickstrike, etc., etc. Plus it's a nice change from Ace Combat.
  6. I've been using the Nellis Range to practice. I guess the big issue was me trying to shoehorn a weapon into a suboptimal mission profile for it. Was trying to hit a bridge in Germany, but set the level of Air Defense so high the only way to survive was to burn in at 200 feet AGL. The GBU-24s didn't particularly like that, apparently. Guess I'm gonna have to go the old fashioned route of retarded Mk. 84s. XD
  7. Looking awesome, Ravenclaw. If possible I would like to request a BLU-96 FAE II.
  8. Hi, I've been trying to modify the radar on FastCargo's F-111F and have been having some issues. I'm attempting to give it the radar from the F-15E. I've copied over the radar section of the F-15E's avionics file to the F-111's avionics file, copied over the required tga files, and edited the F-111F's .ini so that it is using Avionics70 instead of Avionics60. I also edited the F-111's data file so that it describes the correct radar. However, whenever I go in game, the F-111's radar will not turn on, and all that is in the radar scope is the static F-111 radar scope texture. I don't know if there's anything that I'm missing, or what, and I wasn't able to find any relevant tutorials in this forum. Thanks in advance.
  9. Next question; Is there any way to get CCIP pippers to show up when using laser guided bombs, or is that an engine thing?
  10. So, I went back and looked at it using Canadair's RF-111G as a base, and somehow changing the "AvionicsData" line in the Avionics file to "RadarData" made it work. Strange.
  11. Been having issues with F-111Fs doing LGB drops (was using GBU-24) at low level. I don't know if it's because of the targeting pod mechanics, or because I'm too low and fast, but I basically end up having to drop them ballistically and hope for a hit since they apparently don't have enough time to start guiding before they hit the ground. If I pop up, how high should I get? Last time I tried I got up to around 1500 feet AGL and dropped from about 1.5 miles away, but the bomb still didn't start guiding, and fell short.
  12. Ah, I had the wrong install path set. Thanks.
  13. Hi Mue, great tool. However, for some reason when viewing maps with the tool, none of the target objects will appear, be they runways, bridges, etc. This is occurring on both stock and modded maps (I have tried it with the stock GermanyCE, Sweden from TSF, and Nellis Range.) Buildings that are part of the map itself appear to be showing up fine, it is just runways and the like that are not appearing.
  14. Hi, this may turn out to be a silly question, but how would I go about adding ECM to an aircraft that doesn't have it by default? (Say, putting ALQ-214 in an F-111F) I added the required lines of code to the DATA.ini under "Countermeasure System," but in game when I go to turn on ECM it says "no ECM is mounted." Is there anywhere else I need to tweak? Thanks in advance.
  15. Any chance for Mk. 83 Air Inflatable Retarders? Also great to see more weapons getting added!
  16. The last "true" FAEs (BLU-96) got phased out in the 90s, I believe, according to my research. Oh well. It was mostly a mechanics question. Thanks for the help.
  17. Eh, I guess so. I just wanted to try out FAEs since they don't really have much of a history of use or development in the US.
  18. Could somebody explain to me what fuel air explosives (specifically the CBU-72 and CBU-55) are most effective against in game? I've tried using them against armored vehicles and SAM sites with no effect, I've tried using them on normal buildings with reasonable effect. Just strikes me as odd that FAEs wouldn't do anything against even soft targets like SAMs.
  19. Hi, I was just wondering if there was a skin template available for the Mirage Factory F-14D? I was looking through the downloads section and only found one for the F-14B, not the D. Thanks in advance.
  20. Hello everyone, Quick question. I'm trying to mount Brimstones on a slightly modded F-14D with Avionics_70 from the TMF pack and was having issues getting the proper triple launcher to appear. The missiles appear and fire fine, but when I select 6x Brimstone in the loadout option they come loaded on a triple Maverick rail instead of the triple Brimstone launcher. I was wondering if there's a way to force the game to mount the Brimstones on their proper launcher, be it through editing the aircraft's data file or the weapon's file. For reference the relevant mods I've downloaded are TMF's Tomcat pack and KillerBee's Ordnance Shop 2. Thanks in advance for your help
  21. Nope, still Maverick rails showing up. I may have messed up something in the process of creating a dat/ini though. Should I duplicate the Brimstone rack entry that shows up in the weapon editor and move that to the top? Also should I rename it, or just leave it as weapondata.ini?
