So why won't my Starfighter load up any bombs?
tank03 replied to F-4PhantomII's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd start by checking the data .ini for the 104 and see what is listed under the weapon stations. I don't know anything about the 104, but if you wnat it to carry bombs you may have to add that weapon catagory to the ini. I'm sure there are more knowledgable folks here who could figure the problem in a second, but that's where I would start looking. -
Weapons pack

It's in the download section here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2672 -
I was just a kid (7 or 8) when the first one came out. My older brother took me to see it, and since he didn't want to get stuck in all the traffic after the show, we left early. It was years before I got to see the what happened after the Deathstar exploded. For weeks my friends and I would cup our hands over our mouths whenever we talked trying to sound like Darth Vader. It drove the parents nuts.

I've seen the first three Star Wars in the theater when I was a kid. After the first movie I spent weeks wishing I was Luke Skywalker. I haven't seen any of the three new movies. Keep meaning to but soemthing always comes up.

I've used the "engage ground/engage air" command with the chat dialogue before. Unfortunately, in a big mission you can't always talk to other elements and I've found some flights that followed the waypoints but completely ignored their objectives. Still haven't figured it all out yet, but that's half the fun. Good luck with your missions.

As far as I know there isn't a tutorial available. I started by editing stock missions and figured out the little tips and techniques by trial and error.

About he falklands and malvinas map
tank03 replied to 116's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In order to get the desert.cat you need a legally obtained copy of SFP1. I have WOV and was able to use the Falklands terrain by editing the ini to point to the VietnamSEA.cat. This article in the Knowledge Base expalins it all. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12230 -
I've been using the "Le Missioneur" mission editor from Check6. I find it's a bit more user friendly and you have the option of using a variety of measurement systems.

That beachside arcade now has a "classic" room in which they have a bunch of refurbished arcade games (pac man, donky kong, centipede, aseroids, etc.). It's funny because on a summer night the rugualr arcade is filled with kids, but the classic room is a bunch of old folks yelling, "Hey remember this one".

When I was a kid there was a game called "Tapper" at the beachfront arcade. You had to catch mugs of beer as they slid down the bar, before they hit the floor. Seems oddly inappropriate for kids nowadays, but I can remember a bunch of ten year olds lined up to get their chance to catch a beer.

you don't have to return them to the file. Just save them in the file they were extracted to. -
Dumb Wingman
tank03 replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I used to play a flight sim (I don't recall the title) years ago, and in order to survive a mission, the best thing you could do was shoot down your wingman before you started. That way you only had the enemy shooting at you. -
Newbie with WOV
tank03 replied to AT1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes, Alomost all of the WOV/SFP1/WOE aircraft are operable in all of the games. If you are new to WOV I would highly recommend the YAP payware add-ons. They add an element of realism to the game am=nd are much more challenging (and rewarding) than the stock missions. -

MiG-21 Question
tank03 replied to PythonOne's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
To check framerate in WOV you cycle through the HUD displays. I think it's Alt-K as default (I changed mine to just K). The first cycle is the normal HUD with flight/target info. The second cycle is the normal HUD but with the framerate displayed at the top of the screen. It displays the graphics FPS and the game FPS. The third HUD setting removes all of that stuff- no text, no target box, etc; that's the setting I switch to to take screen shots -
Couple of noob WOV questions
tank03 replied to PythonOne's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm not sure what you're talking about, but if you want to improve the Nuke effect then consult the effects downloads. I believe Lexx Luthor has created quite an impressive and realistic nuke effect: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3977 -
Couple of noob WOV questions
tank03 replied to PythonOne's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The official thirdwire site has an extensive list of links to WOV/SFP1 websites: http://www.thirdwire.com/community.htm As far as I know the thirdwire forum, here at CA, and simHQ are the really major WOV forums; though of those three, I think CombatACE is by far the best. -
Couple of noob WOV questions
tank03 replied to PythonOne's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It might be worth your while to consult the Knowledge Base articles just to be sure you are up to speed on the avialable mods etc. In particular there is a specific mod to eliminate the radar display form the upper right corner. The knowledge base initial setup guide is found here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=8786 Screen shots: As already mentioned, using the HUD key, one can cycle through the three HUD configurations to eliminate the onscreen text, target boxes, HUD info, etc. I usually hit Pause before taking a screenshot so that I can fiddle around with camera angles and make the HUD changes. YAP: I highly recommend trying some YAP missions. Yes, they are payware, but they are very reasonably priced and they have a ton of add on planes, objects, weapons, etc. The missions themselves are historically accurate and very, very intense. Much more realistic and intense than anything the ingame mission generator can come up with. One of the things I like about having YAP is that the airfields now have some life to them with lights, parked A/C's, trucks moving around, etc. YAP also has new target locations in Cambodia and S.Vietnam. ONe of my favorite YAP missions is flying a C-130 to Khe Sahn and dropping pallets of supplies while under heavy fire. You can't do that with just the regular WOV. -
Being here in NH, this has been a big deal. No surprise that Boston are considered "local boys make good" and are just generally well admired here. For those hwo have run into Brad here in the area, he was always polite and well mannered. He will be greatly missed.

How much do you really play?
tank03 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I was fiddling around with some ini files when I realized that I spend most of my precious little free time tinkering with the game and experimenting with mods, rather than actually playing. To my amazment I think I enjoy puttering around and trying this and that more than I like the actual game play. Does anyone find this to be true, or am I just foolish?
