  1. Finally got it running!

A 1973 Honda CB350- After spending a good deal of the winter re-wiring this thing I finally got it going and took it for a first ride today. This is my first bike, but I'm already dreaming of getting something a bit bigger. Rode the short distance to the Manchester (NH) Airport (MHT) and checked out the museum. If you are ever in the area the museum is small, but interesting. It's housed in the original terminal/tower built in the 1930's, when the airport was known as Grenier Filed. B-17's and P-51's were based there during WW2. PS. tried to upload some pix but I'm having problems uploading at the moment. I'll try again later.
  2. Happy Birthday

Cheers! Have a great one guys.
  3. DVD burners

I'm looking at getting an external DVD/CD writer to back up some of my computer files, as DVD's seem to store way more than CD's. I've looked online and they all talk about storing movies and photos and nothing about data storage. Am I looking at the wrong devices or are they all capable of storing any digital media? ANy help with this is appreciated. I'm getting nervous since I have a TON of stuff not yet backed up.
  4. That's interesting. To me, KMD was indeciferable whereas Le Missioneur was user friendly and intuitive. It's crazy how two people can see the same thing but experience it in completely different ways. Guess it's a good thing we have them both; something for everyone.
  5. I use Le Missioneur, to me it's more intuitive and user friendly than KMD, but they both accomplish the same thing. It's just a matter of what you are comfortable with. I haven't yet tried using it in WOI, but I'm thinking it should work.
  6. I agree with column5, WOI is great, with WOE a close second.
  7. What airplane are you?

I'm a B-52. I knew I'd be some fat, lumbering a/c with no speed. "B-52 Stratofortress You`re a B-52. You are old and wise, and you absolutely love destruction. You believe in the principle of "peace through deterrence" and aren`t afraid to throw your weight around"
  8. I think the KB is a very powerful tool, but in it's current format it is a bit difficult to navigate. The problem, from my end, is that when I have an issue and consult the KB for answers, I'm not thinking, "Is this a beginners question, or an advanced question?". I'm thinking in terms of, "Is it related to missions, terrains, a/c, ground objects, game settings, etc?". I usually end up scrolling through a lot of stuff before I find what I'm looking for because I just don't know where, exactly, the answer is stored. Having said that, one must ackowledge that the KB contains an ENORMOUS amount of info that has been meticulously and carefully reaped over many years by some very dedicated and generous people. With that much information, no matter how it's organised, there is going to be some issues. That's just the nature of the beast. I do agree with one poster who suggested leading off with a FAQ of very specific (newbie) questions: i.e. How to install terrains, How to install a/c, How to reset the years, etc. All those questions that we seem to be seeing again and again. I'm not too upset about having to answer the same questions from new members. I see it as an opportunity to get to know the new guy and share what (limited) knowledge I have. Since I'm not a modder and have no skills in that area, I view responding to those kinds of questions (when I can) as a way to contribute back to the community. At any rate, I think the info contained in the KB is quite important and it says something about this community that we are willing to share that much info freely. And, contrary to what someone said about CA resembling SmHQ, I totally disagree because the fact that we have a debate like this; a group of people trying to find to ways improve the TW and CA experience for OTHERS, says something about the great community that we have. I've rarely met such a generous and supportive group of guys; and that is nearly as much a draw to TW as the games themselves.
  9. Happy Birthday to USAFMTL

Happy b-day. Hope you have a great one!
  10. Looks Whose 27!

    Cheers! Have a great B-day!
  11. Happy Birthday......

    Happy B-day!
  12. Happy Birthday......

We actually went to the Brimmer then Margarita's and never managed to make it to Strangebrew. Thanks all for the kind sentiments! I had a great day.
  13. Happy Birthday......

    Cheers! Thanks guys.
  14. Apologies if this topic has already been discussed; I've been super busy and a bit out of the loop lately and haven't been checking into the forum as often as in the past. I've been reading through some of the comments regarding the asking of questions and the use (or non-use) of the KB. Somewhere in those comments I gleaned the impression that the organization and structure/presentation of the KB is a work in progress. Would it make sense to have a permanent thread in which users could post feedback regarding the use of the KB. CA members could simply leave a note if, after they used or tried to use the KB, they had an issue (i.e. topic wasn't in the sub-folder they thought it should be, etc). In this way I'd think one could learn what is working for people and what isn't, and thus be able to tweek things based on how it's actually being used, rather than how one thinks it's being used. Just a thought.
  15. I know there are a couple Tornados in the a/c download section, not sure which ones however.
  16. Same for me. I'm getting more successful hits with the -78 than with the Shrike. Using the RWR I'll get a direction to launch, and frequently I'll see the blip go out after impact.
  17. Nevermind, I just discovered that the boss man has already done this under the title "Do not post in the KB". Maybe it could be renamed (i.e. KB feedback) so folks know that's where to comment?
  18. Which missions exactly? because there are a bunch of new carrier missions in the download section here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...amp;showcat=338
  19. I think there is a weapons delivery tutorial in the KB that outlines strategies for using the various weapons in the TW aresenal. But, as the others say, it does take practise.
  20. I've got a 3-4 year old Dell desktop with a generic Dell onboard graphics card that I upgraded the RAM from 512 to 1G and saw a significant increase in playability. Most of my setting are on Medium (horizon:Near, water:Low), but with the new RAM I was able to set object graphics to high (left everything else at medium)and turn on the cockpit mirrors. It still slows down a bit when a lot is going on, but it never gets so slow that it's unplayable. I've been playing WOI for about a week now using this same system and settings and haven't had any major problems with it. Installing the new RAM was easy (about 5 minutes) with the desktop computer (and relatively inexpensive), but I imagine things are a bit more complicated with a laptop.
  21. Any cigar smokers out there?

I occasionally smoke a cigar when golfing, but I have gotten quite into smking a pipe. Some Peterson's and a Balvenie single malt with a splash and I'm in heaven.
  22. Can't sleep...won't sleep.

I found a new mattress made going to sleep so much easier.
  23. Dropping tanks and racks/ordinance?

    Thanks for the info.
  24. What Did You Have For Dinner

We had lamb curry with rice and some chicken tikka masala. All washed down with a few Kingfishers.
