Operation Tainted Cigar
tank03 replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The whole island is one big humidor so I doubt that's what the tents are for. I suspect they hold all the illicit scotch to go with those thigh-rolled cigars. Say what you will about Cuba, but if you can drink scotch and smoke fine cigars with virgins I think my new name is Carlos. -
I had that too. When I was a kid in the 70's he was "The Man" that we all looked up to and he alwyas had class. Thoughts to his family.

How can I tell apart which missile is fired at me?
tank03 replied to JKstar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Agreed! The first mod I ever tried was the ini edit that got rid of the radar from the upper right of the screen. Not spectacular by modding standards, but that damn radar always seemed to be in the way and I don't think I'd still be playing if I couldn't get rid of it. It's the little things that add up to big things. -
You poor ba$tard! I applaud your ability and determination to stick with it in spite of the horrendous conditions.

how can ı close the hud and others
tank03 replied to Lovlovyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
1) start the game 2) when main menu comes up, click on OPTIONS 3) in the OPTIONS menu click on CONTROL 4) in the CONTROL menu scroll to the bottom and click on Customize. 5) clicking customize will give you a list of control options. Somewhere near the top of the list is the HUD cycle. Assign that to a key (I use "K") and then click APPLY. 6) close out of the OPTIONS menu. Now when you fly, clicking the "K" key will allow you to cycle through the various HUD settings; one of which is no HUD at all, which makes taking screen shots/video better. I hope I've answered your question. -
I know this is kind of weird but I just read a book about UFO's in the waiting room of my dentists office (had wisdom teeth out-OUCH). Anyway, there was quite a list of UFO sightings involving pilots (UFO in the sense that they didn't know what it was, not that they thought it was aliens) and given the number of aviators here I thought somebody might have seen something they couldn't explain at one time or another; again, stressing that they don't think it's aliens, they just don't know what it was. So, anyone seen something they thought was weird? Personally, I don't believe in the "alien" explanation for something that can't be ID'd; seems absurd to me. Hell, I've got stuff in my fridge that I can't ID, but I don't think aliens put it there.

Yeah, I'd go with WOV first as it has carrier ops. -
Best wishes for you and yours!

Unfortunately, you can only direct your wingman(#2) to your target. -
Downloaded aircraft into the Campaigns?
tank03 replied to Thanos1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think it's possible. Check out the Knowledge Base, there is an article titled "How to Create and Edit Campaigns" by Bunyap that I suspect will answer many of your questions. The knowledge base is here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 -
This is how I see it. I believe that somewhere out in the vastness of the universe there is other intelligent life. It seems mathematically improbable that there isn't. However, I can't believe that another race of beings that is so advanced that it can visit our planet would spend it's time doing silly things like taking soil samples from Farmer Bills' cornfield or abducting Joe Random and testing his nose hair. I think there is life in outer space other than us, but I don't believe we have been "visited" by any other life form. I believe that some phenomena can remain unexplained simply because we lack enough evidence/ scientific knowledge to make a definitive determination. That doesn't mean the explanation has to be supernatural; it just means we don't know. It's an Occam's Razor situation.

Welcome to New England! By the way, now that you are here I should probably tell you that the Constitution fires a cannon at sunset...watch out for that. -
How can I tell apart which missile is fired at me?
tank03 replied to JKstar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Use the COMM mod found in the download section so that the a/c's number gets called out as well. (i.e. "One, missile launch"). If there are mutiple flights, you can still be confused as to which "One" they are refering to, but it does reduce the number of calls you have to pay attention to. -
modern, calm, radio comms

Great idea provided you could handle listening to yourself everytime you play the game. -

I've had the same problem before and found it was a mispelling somewhere that was screwing everything up. -

Using the in-game Options>Game Control menu, you must set a key to use as a HUD cycle key (I use "K"). This way you can press the key to cycle through the vaarious HUD settings, one of which is completely blank and allows you to take uncluttered pictures/video. -
AKA Quincy Market

Fluffernutter: it's a sandwich made with toast, peanut butter, and "Fluff". "Fluff" is a spreadable marshmallow-like vanilla confection that's sold in a jar (also comes in strawberry flavor). As far as I know it's only found in New England; the factory is in Massachusetts. Toast two pieces of white bread, put peanut butter on one, Fluff on the other, put them together and you have a Flufffernutter! If done right it will be awfully gooey, but nothing beats it on a cold day. A real fuffernutter is made on still warm toast, not just bread. If you are going to be in Boston, you have to check out Quincy Market. It's a collection of dozens of different shops/ restaurants located in three old market buildings right in Boston. The center market is nothing but take-away food shops of everykind; I'm sure one of them could sell you a fluffernutter. At the very least, you can go to a food store and buy a jar of Fluff to take with you. Well worth it. It's also popular to spoon a dollop of Fluff into a Hot Chocolate drink (I also recommend a good shot of whisky in the hot chocolate). Head to the North End for fantastic Italian food (Mike's on Hanover St. has the best pastries, try the Bear Claws or Lobster Claws). The Back Bay area also has some unique and eccentric restaurants.

I can't imagine a fluffernutter not being yummy. I'm still eating them at 36. I've also seen a hybrid in which Nutella is substituted for the peanut butter (now that's a bit too sweet, almost like desert), adn I've even seen fluffernutter dipped in batter and deep-fried. That's overboard in my opinion. But the basic fluffernutter in unbeatable. Let me know if you can't find a source, I'm sure I could arrange to get you some.

I think a Fluffernutter is a New England thing. My wife has to ship out a case of Fluff every year to her brother who moved to Colorado and can't find it out there. I honestly had a fluffernutter two days ago. All nice and warm and gooey, it can't be beat on a cold winter day.

I don't think the American Mars bar is the same as the rest of the world. I have a friend from London who alwyas complains when he's here and buys a US Mars bar and forgets it's not the same. Best candy bar by far....Reese's Peanut Butter Cup! Chocolate and peanut butter, how can you go wrong? Second best... Snickers. Chocolate, caramel, nougut, and peanuts (yes, we're big on peanuts). Glad you liked Hawaii, just don't go thinking that the rest of the US is that nice. Even we are jealous of the Hawaiians. I have an old friend who lives in Hilo now who keeps inviting me out for a visit. I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm afraid I won't be able to leave when I do.

Is there a way?
tank03 replied to GreyCap's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The file you want in the MissionControl file found in the Flight folder. I think it's in the Flight Data cat or maybe the Flight Engine Cat. Either way it's definitely a mission file you are looking for and not an Aircraftdata file. -
Ski. Some trails opened up recently up north NH w/ all man made snow because we haven't got a really good snow blast yet. It has been cold enough to make snow and it hasn't been melting away during the day so we're going to have a decent base once the natural stuff arrives.
