How Did You Find OFF?
Burning Beard replied to CaptSopwith's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I was watching the rumblings on the forums about OFF before Phase One came out. I probably downloaded Phase One the first day it was available and still have all the official files from Phase One and Phase Two on my computer. I think I was the first player to post a user account when Phase Three came out (I ordered early and got it quickly because I am in California). Beard -

Setting Up a Blip Switch in OFF
Burning Beard replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Rickety, I have the X52 also and just use assignments through the controls menu of the game. There is another thread that explains how to set up the Mixture axis (I use the slider on top of the throttle). The thread is pretty new and explains how to do it. Try search or just look through the previous couple of pages and you should find it. Beard -
Here's a new one for you guys. Everything was going fine with my Win 7/64 install.... But, never being one to leave well enough alone I upgraded to a ssd drive for windows and put everything off of my old raided drives to a 1T hard drive. Well it mostly went OK, but now I cannot install the msstdfmt.dll to make the OFF Manager load. When I attempt to put it in the System32 folder then register it I get the following; The module "msstdfmt.dll" may not compatible with the version of Windows that you're running. Check if the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe. Of course the are no instructions how to do this. Anybody have any suggestions? Beard

I downloaded off of your site yesterday and installed it without problems. Thank you very much, Beard

Setting Up a Blip Switch in OFF

I don't think you can toggle a switch unless it says toggle in the controls menu..... This is just a guess. Beard -

Brilliant Lou, it works perfectly, and adds just another little touch that was missing. Beard -

Anyone flying the AIRCO DH-2 ?
Burning Beard replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I've always been a fan of the DH2, love the visibility. I have flown campaigns in them but alas they finish the way all my campaigns do. It is fun plane to fly and you do need to learn to use the rudder. Back in the old days when multiplayer was still active we flew an early war campaign in them. Vasco even had his flight flying and landing in a fairly tight formation. Beard -
Glad I could be of assistance. Beard

Okey Dokey guys, this is how I did it. Start a Quick Combat, hit pause and escape, that will give you the pull down menu. Select Controls from the pull down and that will open the Controls Settings Menu. I the Event Category window, select All Commands, then scroll down the list to "Mixture 1 Axis" (this is not available in the engine commands list). Click on Mixture 1 Axis and that will light up the Add Assignment button. When you hit Add Assignment another window will open up asking you to select a button (or some such thing) just move the slider and it will pop up in the little box if available. Hit save and that box will close. Then in the Event Category window you must click Save the Configuration. You do this in the top window by selecting "Mine" I believe that is one of three choices, the others being CFS3 and Flight Simulator. This is what I use for all my commands on the X52, I do not use the software that came with the stick. Good Luck Beard

I have an X52 and to have the mixture set to the thumb slider. I set this up in the controls section of OFF, I do not use the Saitek software. In All Commands for Mixture 1 (I think this is for a multiple engines, but I only use one engine) it reads axis slider. When I push it forward it leans the engine, back makes it richer. It is also and easy way to kill the engine when ending a flight. When leaning the engine in flight make sure you watch the tachometer, when you lean it to far the revs fall off to the point it will eventually kill the engine. Beard

OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Burning Beard replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You have to add the ENB series, if you haven't then they aren't there. What they are usually called is Bloom and HDR. Beard -
OFF with Richer more Vibrant Colors
Burning Beard replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hellshade, This is a truly great find. I didn't know it existed. I too have played with the ENB series and tweeked up some deeper and richer tones, but it is pretty cumbersome to work with. This is quick and user friendly. You can take the game from kind of flat tones to much richer values. The trick is not to over do it ;) Beard -
That Thrustmaster is a really big stick. It will break into two pieces and has the rudder on a rocker on the throttle. I had one (I think) just like it. It is force feedback and requires a separate power source. I liked the stick but the cleaning lady ran over the power cord with a vacuum cleaner and it was an odd ball transformer that I couldn't find a replacement for. Beard

The trick is, once you have the skin the way you like it and the proper size, save it as a bmp. Then open it in DTXBmp and the save it as a dds texture. You should save it to some name like OFF_SPAD13_ace_t_US94_Ben Jones_Zig Zag.dds, as you can see the name can be very long but just look at the name of a plane similar to the one you are doing and make sure it is the same up to and through _t_ then it should show up. Make sure the file is in the skins folder in the campaigns/campaign data folder. Beard

Olham, you speak English so well that no one would think an old idiom would trip you up. "Here goes nothing" is just an expression that means, I'll give it a try. Beard

OT: War or gaming fun?
Burning Beard replied to MikeDixonUK's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I think it is pretty much an individual reaction. Having been in the position of identifying targets in an active war situation, while being semi removed from the fighting, most of my co-workers and I did not seem to be overly bothered by it. I am still in touch with some of them, they seem to have returned to civilian life with few problems. Some people just can't handle the pressure of the job and internalize what they are doing, thankfully that was not my problem. Probably the worst part of the job is that you can't really talk about it to anyone that is not directly involved, which has a tendency to spill over in all aspects of your interaction with family and loved ones. Indians in the Great War
Burning Beard replied to carrick58's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Big Bend is a place you really have to be going to to get there. I worked in Big Bend for about 4 months is 1969 as a surveyor for the Forest Service. It is really beautiful country but steep and rugged, which probably explains why there was an Indian Village there. Beard
