Skinning Woes
Burning Beard replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
I'm not a paintshop guy, I use Corel Photo Paint for shading and airbrush type work and Corel Draw for vectors (panel lines, insignia, personal emblems). Is it possible (sure it must be) to make your layers transparent. That is what I do for shadows. I never work off of a DDS file, always do all my changes on the layers then save it as a bmp after transferring it into Corel Draw, that bmp is what I convert to a dds file. Beard -
Who Is Your Longest Surviving Pilot So Far?
Burning Beard replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
LOL I think my longest surviving pilot had maybe 25 hrs. And I've been playing this since the beginning of Phase 1. Beard -

On another note, never fire more than a 3 second burst, that will keep the guns cool and the ammunition will last longer. If you follow this rule you will never have jams and your accuracy will improve. Beard -
You got that sawtooth on the bottom of the 24 skin. I saw that in a picture in a Windsock Datafile and was going to do it. You beat me to it , Beard

I'm a 4 user and am perfectly happy, I even use the hat clip. I think Olham has 5, maybe he will chime in. Beard

Unfortunately that announcement was an April Fools Joke, you should have gotten it when they talked about adjusting things with a screwdriver . The Devs say they will make an announcement about WOP 2 fairly soon. Beard

Introducing myself to these forums & OFF
Burning Beard replied to stefnuts's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Welcome stefnuts, Uncleal is right about the Track IR, after you use it you wont know how you lived without it. You don't need Track IR5, IR4 works perfectly well using IR5 software, also I prefer the hat clip. Some of the planes have a really tight view, the Spads in particular, but if you ever really looked at pictures of the planes you can see why. There was stuff all around the pilots and wings blocking the view, but you get used to it. If you really want to see what you are doing I recommend the DH2 for a few flights. Just be careful of stalling out so get some altitude, and fly against the E3. Also in quick combat you can set where you are starting, ie, altitude or on the field, the relative skill of the enemy, and what type of mission you are flying. Freeflight is great if you want to get used to the planes as enjoy the scenery a little . By the way, don't be concerned if you get killed a lot. It took me years to get 17 hrs (literally). It is easier in the first part of the war, but a lot more exciting with better planes towards the end of the war. I personally prefer the spring and summer of '17, the weather is better and planes are good. Have fun, Beard -
You ever just zone out while in the air?
Burning Beard replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sometimes I get all relaxed looking at the pretty scenery and fall asleep. Then I think to myself, I'm sure glad I wasn't driving. LOL Beard -
OT: What else are you playing right now besides OFF?
Burning Beard replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm doing a little Wings of Prey now along with OFF, Beard -
I agree with Al on this one. Get your 5 then treat yourself special. Beard

A lot of us us TR4, works great and you can use the TR5 software. I use the hat clip without a problem, just remember you can't have a light behind you or the pick-up gets confused. Beard

Scotch, a Stogie and maybe some pepper jack cheese. Or if I'm reliving my NCO days.... Beer, M&M's or Oreos, and a Stogie of course. Beard

Wings of Prey DRM - REMOVED by Devs -
Burning Beard replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sorry to hear that Von Baur. It might be the issue of Track IR, I'm running a 4. Don't know about the FFB, I am running an X52, I did find if you click on the function you want to address, in my case rudder, if you move the device it will recognize it. so in fact I could use the pedals. It can all be pretty frustrating trying to run a piece of software without instructions. Beard -

I didn't see you mention it, but did you fly a mission in CFS3 before trying to fly OFF? That was one of the old rules of the game. Beard -

I fly every few days, depending on what I have going on. I usually fly 4 or 5 missions but use warp. Beard -

Burning Beard replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Odd, my Track IR worked like a champ, didn't even ask if I had one. I did have to remember to turn it on though, . On the joystick, you have to click on the other devices and find it there. I don't think the demo gives you benefit of all the goodies working like the game would. For instance it recognized my rudder pedals but still wants to use the twist stick, and you cannot turn off the twist stick. Beard -

After seeing this thread I went on line and found a demo for WoP. It's a big'un 1.4 Gig but worth the download if you want a look see. It is a little arcadish, but then it is a demo and they want to hook you in. With it you get to fly either a Spit over Dover (I think) or La7 on the Eastern front. In the spit you run into lots of HE111 and some ME109's, probably some Stukas and ME110's in there somewhere but I only flew it a couple of time and was having fun shooting down bombers. The La7 mission is a ground attack with lots of flak and enemy aircraft, I saw 109's of different varieties and some 162's which are just scary. The graphics are great and everything ran smoothly only slowing the machine down to about 34 fps with lots and lots of stuff going on. You cannot use the highest graphic setting in the demo, but what you get is great. If you check on line you can get a description of all the planes that are available and the different settings. By the way, the demo is TIR friendly. I think I may have to get this one. Beard -
