Does anyone know if there is a way to level up your NPC? I have just read that your NPC's stats are based on when they first met / joined you. Now I obtained Lyndia very early on. I have not progressed very far level 14 but now after many fights I would like like to have to pick another NPC. If what I have read is true Lyndia would be stuck at about 4 or 5. Is there a mod that would level NPC's to a percentage of yours or any other way for them to keep pace, so to speak. Regards MarkL

I presume this is the one? http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=403556 1/Final zulu-khartum mod a/ self installer.exe MADE BY HUSSERL TW: link for download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=41LRUZZM It would be better if a link was provided, and I often find instructions for installing some mods quiet difficult to follow. And certainly when it was mentioned above about emails sent at work and not everyone reading them. It was worked that in my place of employment it would take 8 hours a month to read all emails sent. Not likely so one just scans for what one thinks is relevant. I find a lot of work places just use emails as an excuse not to provide a proper service. The Total War series is like Skyrim, fantastic value. I have quiet a few of them and never finished one. Too little time. I wish I had enough time to play them with mods. But these darn companies keep bringing out new titles to distract me, like the upcoming OFF phase 4. Bet that distracts from Skyrim before I finish that as well. I think that's the problem we all play too many games and keeping up with the mods patches etc can be a full time job, so we take the easy way old and ask for help from people directly as we have too little time to do the searching. Dam life's hard. Cheers MarkL

I must admit I use the Logitech X52 and really like it, but has problems mapping for some flight sims. the throttle gets mapped to the slider on the throttle and is hard to unbind sometimes. As far as durability goes I am not sure. Had it for two years but I only use it a few hours a week. At this time I do not even have any flight sims installed at all, so I can not say how long it would last if used a lot. I also have one of those Thrustmasters and it is good, but I do not like the buttons on it for some reason. But it is a good stick. Regards MarkL -

Nothing wrong with timber. My fathers house is a timber weather board and it survived the Sydney fires where nearly all the houses in his street burnt down. He had small windows compared with a lot of modern houses and a fibro roof. When the fire storm hit the files were all over his house but it survived, where all around him they burnt. The thing that saved his house was no big windows to crack with the heat and the wind fueled flames could not get into the roof as there were no gaps. All the brick houses around his burnt. I arrived after the fire, just after the fire storm. (Very Scary) Other houses burnt after the fire due to them not going all the way to the ground. Having pillars letting spot fires start after the main fire had passed. So the better designed your house is the better it will withstand external fires. Now internal fires are another thing yet. Just thought I would mention this as a lot of wooden houses have withstood bushfires in australia, just depends on their design. Worst design features in fires were deemed to be; Large glass windows, Decks that let fires get underneith them tiled roofs foundations with only a small gap under the house, if the house did not have bricks from ground to house base. Man that looks to be a lot of review links. I have not purchased yet but had a play at a friends place who got it for their kids, or so they say. It looks very good but the menu's seem to be designed around a controller as you have to use arrow buttons then press enter etc to make selections. On that install at least. One thing I would like clarified is what appears to be loads while you are walking around. On the PC I tried it on every 500 meters or a KM or so you come to a complete stop. Wait about 30 seconds and you can move again. This PC is a dual core 3.0 I am told with XP SP3 and an ATI 6850 video card. Now my PC is slightly paster but not by much 3.1 and a ATI 6870 card. Not much between them. Since it was not my PC I could not try to see if there were any setting to tweak to get around what appeared to be loads while playing. Does anyone here get these pauses during game play? From what I have seen (about 30 mine play) I like it but not the very frequent pauses that look like the loading on the maps like in the old days. I have the witcher 2 and have none of these issues, but then again the witcher 2 areas are a bit smaller I think. but so far looks like a nice game. Regards MarkL

I recently re purchased the Ghost Recon series as a boxed set, no copy protection now. The mods all seem to work with it to. This is my favourite shooter of all time. The squad commands were / are fairly good. So many mods and game types as well. My current installation runs to about 4 gig with all the mods etc. I have a lot of the others in the series but have not played them yet. Hope my old P4 lasts in case they do not work on a modern PC. Regards MarkL -
I am currently trying to fine tune my system and I am wondering if I have too much memory installed for XP 32 bit. (Yes I am staying with XP 32 bit for awhile yet) Currently I am running XP SP3 with 4 gig ram, plus my video card with 1 gig ram. This gives me a total of 5 gig of memory. With XP does the 1 gig of video memory have to be mapped into the 4 gig limit of XP by windows or is it separate? I just want to ensure my system is able to use all the video memory without conflicting with the 4 gig system ram. If necessary I can replace the 2 x 2 gig sticks with 1 gig sticks. Any advice on XP memory would be appreciated. Regards MarkL

Thanks for the replies. It looks like I am safe with what I have, so I will leave it as is. The whole memory thing seems quiet complicated for us beginners. Regards MarkL

Would yo mind listing some of the mods you use, especially mods that extend the gameplay. I have both Morrowind and oblivion but not much in the way of mods. I tried using some ages ago but had problems finding mods that worked together. If you have a bit of a list for either of these two that all work together it would be appreciated. I still really like Morrowind, I think a bit better than oblivion but both are good. Really looking forward to the next in the series. One of my friends just purchased "Rage" for his son. He has a fairly good system and it does not run at all. The textures pop in and out like flight simulator when it runs out of memory. Makes me wonder how old their engine is. From looking at Rage on their PC that seems to run games like the Witcher 2 OK and "Rage" at an unplayable state makes mew wonder if that game will ever be any good. Regards MarkL

If you can still get Morrowind, the graphics are a bit dated but I think it is really good to play, Oblivion is good as well. If you can get them cheap grab them. Regards.

I have been tinkering with this one for years. Mainly the quick missions. The people patching this have been doing so for over 10 years since the original Rowan version. Very dedicated and a very good forum as well. Well worth the effort to get into, and it will be updated in the future. Regards MarkL

That's what is all about in the end, having fun. It does not have to be a hard core sim to be worth purchasing. I may look into this one as well. Regards MarkL

Looks nice. Arcade can be fun as long as it supports controllers, just just mouse and or keys. I will look for a few reviews. Regards MarkL

I would have to agree with your post. I have also thought about that sim, but I do not like their sales model as well. Activation then purchase all the extras. It has been proven by Matrix games that serial numbers that block future patches if you have a uploaded serial work very well to counter piracy, so there is no need for activation. I have recently purchased Third Wires WWI sim to support them when I found out they do not use protection. I even purchased the witcher 2 from GoG for the same reason and I am not really into that sort of game. But I feek it necessary to support developers who have good business models. That's one reason I also support OFF, no DRM, especially if you have the UBISoft version of CFS3. Regards MarkL

OT: Any of you chaps play Combat Mission?
markl replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I dabbled with the first three and liked Beyond Overlord the best. I found the last two lost the fun more grind. But I admit I am more casual. I think the first three were the best. I tried the first of the modern series but did not like it, but the new interface and mouse movements are quiet good. I really liked the quick battles of the first three, endless replayability and lots of texture mods to improve them. There were some really good scenarios as well. I remember Bullet Head in the forums at the time. I will reinstall them sometime. Regards MarkL -

Saitek X52 Pro Flight Control System
markl replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I own the basic X-52 and are happy with it. It is a bit sloppy in the centre, but considering my poor flying expertise that does not matter. There have been some reports of problems with the stick binding as a result of a screw jaming but do not remember the issue too well. In a lot of sims the throttle is is automatically assigned to the throttle slider and you have to manually assign it to the throttle lever. I have heard this is very hard to do in the new DCS A-10 Sim but as I do not own that I can not confirm. I also own the CH stick, throttle and pedels. I hate the stick and throttle and never use them. I would not get a Logitech stick as they break too soon. 2 for me so far. I would buy another basic X52 if mine ever dies. Cheers MarkL -
OT: What else are you playing right now besides OFF?
markl replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the offer, I have sent a PM. I think I will go for the DVD since it is cheaper. One question though, how do you play BG1 with the BG2 engine? Is this what happens when you combine the two games with the Trilogy Mod? Is there a specific site to go to for the mods. I am keen to try one of these older titles since most modern titles end too quickly, just when you start to get interested. Regards MarkL -

I have seen the "Baldur's (4 in 1 boxset)" at the local EB store. Have they removed the copy protection from that set? If they have I may purchase it, if not off to GoG. But at the price they have the box set of 4 it is a lot cheaper than GoG. I have heard a few good reviews of the series and are keen to try it, but I am getting used the the protection free games from GoG now so I want all the older titles with no protection. As for Dragon Age II, I have finished it. It was not bad but only half a story, a primer for later DLC I would say. Wait to get it on special. for me the best part was the interaction between NPC's and your character. Regards. -
Not sure what is wrong as I have FSX installed to a windows 7, but there is one thing you could try. Install to another location than "C:\Program files" Some people have reported problems installing and running games in the program directory. There are a few titles that I am having problems with in Win7. What I have done is use hot swap drive bays to swap out 2 hard drives. One with XP and one with win7. To me win7 is no better than vista for getting programs to run. Others have had more luck though. Sorry I can not be of more help. Regards.

OT: What's your 2011 game "Must Have" list?
markl replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Are yes CMBO one of my favourite games of all times. I should reinstall it again. I have a good RIP of my last install fully modded up and ready to go. I like CMBO game play better than CMBB & CMAK, a bit easier as well. Since BattleFront went to activation I no longer buy their games, or visit the forums. As for new games, I only buy games now that do not need activation, so as you can guess that takes away about 90%. I have the Witcher 2 pre ordered from GoG.com just because it is protection free. Hope I like it. Hopefully P4 will also be just like P3 install and forget, as I would hate to miss it. I am also looking at Paradox, Matrix & Third Wire games that only use serials. One of my friends sons will get Mass Effect 3 so I should be able to play it at their place when we visit. (Like M.E.2 to the wife's displeasure) But I buy all the bargain bin games I see for less than $10.00 and over the years I have over 40 of these unplayed. By the time I try a lot of them I am betting the operating systems will not support them. Oh Well. I picked up the original Shogun Total War just before Christmas for $2.00, I will give it a go soon. Cheers MarkL -
All the best, hope it works out. Regards MarkL
