  1. Basic Maneuvering Problems

Shouldn't the speed printed on the HUD be TAS by default? I wonder why the developers built the mission that way, they should've put the plane at the 10k FT in the training mission. But lets say enemy AC was encountered at 20k FT. How should one act up there?
  2. Why can't I get a lock?

What is the difference between bugging/designating/tracking (i.e. pressing "0" once at over the target on the radar screen) and locking onto a target (pressing "0" second time)? When a target is being designated, missiles can already be pointed at it, so why should i actually lock onto a target? While tracking target, radar still searches for other objects, which is also positive.
  3. Basic Maneuvering Problems

Heh, over 3 years have passed from the time this topic was created. Anyway, same problem here. Can't maintain corner velocity throughout the manouver. Is it another manual bug? At 20k FT it's impossible to pull max G-s and stay in 330-440 kts. However on lower altitudes, 5000-10 000 it can be done.
  4. Flameout landing

Thanks, third attempt was a success. I figured you need to cross the THR at highest speed you could (ergo lower gear few hundred feet pior to crossing THR to maintain that speed). Otherwise it stalls pretty badly. My speeds were: Over the THR: 211kts first touchdown @ 175kts (then the plane jumped off again) final touchdown @153kts Landing was pretty smooth, although i had to use all lenght of the stopway:D Edit: what would be the touchdown speed during normal landing? Obviously 130kts as written in the manual is incorrect. I try to nail the 160-170 kts, is it ok? There seems to be lot of erroneus info in the manual?:D
  5. Flameout landing

Hey. I'm going through the FAF4.0 manual and got stuck with the flameout landing. No way i could land the bird safely. I can reach the RWY, but hit it like a damn rock. Manual says to approach with 6degree of AoA. If the AOA is ajusted to 6degrees, the aircraft would be pointing its nose to the sea. Found youtube flameout tutorial, but can't follow those instructions either. Just can't maintain those glidepaths without losing the airspeed.
