  1. British soldier attacked & butchered.

    Speechless.
  2. Is my new signature offensive?

    Not even close.It's fine.Cool sig.
  3. We've lost another great

RIP buddy. You broke on through to the other side...
  4. Main role of the F-15E?

Air to ground.Anything in this category (also anti-ship on korean birds).I'm not sure about its SEAD capabilities though.
  5. I'm still wondering whether I should buy it or not.
  6. I went to play a small battle yesterday, 1x Iranian F-14 vs a USN F-14A.I skip to the target area, about 25 miles from the F-14, when suddenly I get radar lock warning. So far, so normal.Radar lock warning continues, but at some point I hear "Missile launch!", while the RWR beep indicated no such thing (neither was the "14" icon blinking).I pause, check the other guy and indeed, he had two Phoenixes out at me.I did a few other tests to check whether there was a problem with the AWG-9 being undetectable, or whether the F-14's RWR was the cause of the problem. But it could pick up all other missile launches, except for the Phoenix.Same thing happened with the TW stock F-15A.Could not detect AIM-54 launches. The weird thing, however was that when I would launch a Phoenix against the F-15, it would detect the launch and react by dumping chaff (by the way, if you can, give me a hand with making the AIM-54 less vulnerable to chaff because this is getting out of hand...) All those seem to indicate that the secret lies inside the AWG-9.I ran kind of short on time, which did not allow me to continue tests to see if the stock TW Tomcat had the same issues, or whether AIM-7 launches from TMF F-14s could be picked up by RWR, but, has anyone experienced this too?Is it a problem with my files or something else?
  7. I guess that makes the F-14 a much trickier adversary to go up against BVR.The good thing, at least, is that in medium ranges the missile is visible by eye (looks like a freshly launched SAM ) Thanks fellas, especially Caesar, for the info.
  8. So, even in real life, because the AIM-54 flies for most of the route on autopilot and only gets occasional radar updates, there is no warning?Still, shouldn't the defender be notified when these updates are given to the missile, or when the missile activates its own radar seeker?
  9. Nothing special, at least nothing you've never seen before, but I thought they were nice.Sorry for the size of some of them, btw: I wuv this one, one of the best pipper ons that I have (I don't have many of these in general, I rarely take the time to photo them): Ah, the AIM-54C Phoenix...probably the best air-to-air weapon ever created... NOT Take a closer look at the Flogger: kaboom:
  10. I hope things are this way, because when a person who loves the F-14 watches all those people talk about it negatively and reject the Phoenix as unmaneuverable and poor performing gets major butthurtitis and more doubts that can't be resolved.
  11. Not just good.Really good. What I've been waiting for so anxiously, however, is the IRIS .I know there's a very very long wait till that, but I just can't wait!
  12. You should read more carefully.I said that the change was so tiny tiny tiny tiny that in actual combat an IIAF/IRIAF F-14A and a USN F-14A would perform exactly the same.I never said they were downgraded to be unable to reach their targets. That would be the claimed Hughes sabotage, which did not happen on more than 20 missiles. The "downgrade" I am talking about was known to the Shah and Iranian military authorities, they agreed upon it themselves so that the Congress would have no problem in letting Iran buy the jets. Also, in the book's own words: "There is only one minor difference - the speed at which the AWG-9 and AIM-54 radars changed their working frequency, or jumped wavelengths to counter jamming, was slightly slower on our systems. This was a politically motivated change to quieten those opposed to the sale of F-14s, and similar highly sensitive systems, to Iran. The modification meant that the Navy could legitimately tell Congress that the systems supplied to Iran were less capable than those used by the US military. In reality, the processors mounted in our jets were barely 1/100th of a second slower than those used in Navy F-14s." So, as simple as possible: They WERE downgraded, but the difference was so small that, in actual combat, there was NO difference whatsoever. So, one could say that they were inferior only in theory. But even if the systems actually weren't as good as Navy F-14s, the Tomcat was such a good plane for its time that an airframe with half the capabilities would probably still be immune to most types of jamming. 1.Thanks for addming another one to the list of theories on why those Phoenixes missed.I am now again in doubt. 2.The pods were definitely functioning.Whether or not the Iraqis could use them properly is another story. 13. actually, the one and only source on the matter (which is claimed to be the testimony of an IIAF pilot) says that the systems were slightly inferior to the american ones. The differences, however, were so minuscule, that there was no actual difference in action.
  14. Yet another crash

    RIP
  15. Oh s**t!

One very harsh video to watch.RIP.
  16. Goodbye, Phriend...
  17. I've been playing WoX and SF for a long time now, and most of the time I score with missiles. Not surprising, you'll say.Indeed, it's not, since guns are a lot more demanding in getting a good shot. However, in order for me to score a gun kill, my opposition has to fulfill at least one or more of these requirements: -out of fuel, so having to RTB, gets shot on the way home, since he's not maneuvering at all -already damaged -far inferior in terms of performace -really really unlucky. My problem is that, as you see, when it comes to guns, I simply can't hit anything.I don't carry much experience from other sims, but, as far as I can remember, my experiences from those were a lot more positive. In light of these, I want to ask: Do you think that TW has realistically simulated the aircraft cannons in its games? If yes (which means that I am terrible), does anyone have any tips for me?
  18. Bandit 6 o'clock

hit the brakes and he'll fly right by! I actually do that sometimes, but I won't choose it unless my speed is low and I'm too low. When I do have some energy to spend, I have plenty of options.Hard left-right breaks, Split S/Immelman, pitch up and punch in burners, or simply punch in burners and get an even higher speed to go out of range.
  19. Korean Top Gun

in the literal meaning of the word then yes, much less
  20. the Iranian threat...........

    there ya go! :D
  21. You are saying that your afterburner is not working.I assume you might have not installed some files.Try reading the readme more carefully and reinstalling the mod, so you can see if you forgot any files.Let us know what happens.
  22. F-22 - Worth It?

is it that bad to reply to the OP's original question in one short line rather than enter a lenthy discussion?
  23. F-22 - Worth It?

There you go.Now it seems to be worth its money (although China is actually one of the last countries that I believe you'd go to war against in the near future)
