  1. Promotion Idea

Interesting thread gentlemen. I remember when I first found OFF. It began with a general search of flight sims, which was then refined to WWI. This got me to Rise of Flight...Then I wanted to see videos of play, which led me to youtube and the wonderful videos of Hellshade, seeing the flights of planes swooping into combat amidst the puffs of arty just won me over right away... The point is, up until then I had no idea any of it even existed, and I only found it by acting like a dog with a bone over the entire concept of WWI simming. I think if there was to be a grass roots movement of mass information delivery over various social media sites, then I would be happy to be a part of that. Awareness is key.
  2. * * PHASE 4 PREVIEW MOVIE 1 ! * *

Thank you so much for the preview movie gentlemen. Everything looks brilliant and I am excited about the changes you are implementing with regards to AI etc. The new manager looks great, excellent artwork and such. Whoever is responsible for the look of that, well done. I can say without any trepidation whatsoever, that I am looking forward to getting my hands on this...bring it on.

I thought it was a rather quaint cottage. It has some advantages. Two chests for storing your looted goodies until either disenchantment or sale. A shield display over the bed in the master bedroom for hanging some dead guys fancy shield on, a sword rack near the entrance to the master bedroom for putting some dead guys sword on. Two working bookshelves, for those of us that like to collect occult tomes. A weapon rack near the front door that I use like an umbrella stand when I come home after a long hard days adventuring. A cooking pot for preparing the venison and clam stew etc. And last but not least, a nice alchemy station for mixing up the potpourri. I also installed the wife, who opened up her own shop from the house, she gives me a share of the profits, and regularly has around 750 to 1000 gold to barter, and it is next door to the smithy, and across the road from the hunters emporium. All in all a pretty good country home. I have been trying to gather enough money to buy a house in Solitude, thinking I should move up to the city for a while, that place costs 25 000, and that is without any decorating...it has been a slow process, but I have saved 13 000 so far. Admittedly, I have been into a lot of tombs lately.

I did not know that about the companions. That is a damn shame. It means that I killed Lydia in that dark and haunted place after she had saved my life several times. Such a waste. I will have to go off to temple and donate a heap of gold in her honour. Agreed on the lockpicks, I have been unlocking the big ones with the skills brought over from fallout. I suppose I would perk them up if I was running a pure thief and needed to be really quick and invisible whilst doing it, but I generally just use the skills to get into chests, disarm those tricksy chest and door traps and suchlike.

All good thoughts there Bullethead. I have been hobbying up the smithing and enchanting skills, but not really spending perks on them. I have been getting a few level increases whilst doing this, and other things like the ressurection of chickens etc. But I have utilised the Warrior Stone in an attempt to balance things out a bit. I dont do a lot of hand to hand combat, being more of an archer. But I have found that I can keep up with most of the current enemies, ( I am lvl 28), with the use of tooled up companions, a staff that summons an atronach, a few wards and traps, and generally being a sneaky bastard. I think it is important to throw perks at your hand to hand skills, at least if you are going to use them, just the basic damage increases when they become available if nothing else. You are missing out if you dont get the decapitation one though, bit later on but so worth it, especially if you are weilding dual bound blades. Having said all of that. This is my very first character build, of many I am sure, so I might completely change my opinion in time.
  6. OT: Attention Fantasy RPG Fans

Hello lads. I have been enjoying this beautiful game myself over the past couple of days. I have it for the PS3 though, so no screenies. Which is a damned shame I might add. I had a random dragon encounter the other evening. The whole epic battle took place at the foot of Azura's shrine on the mountaintops, above us the aurora was in full swing. It was just such an amazing and beautiful scene. I was thinking to myself, that this would most likely be the scripted final event in almost any other game, but here in Skyrim. It just happened. That pretty much sums up the whole experience for me thus far. Everything is so epic. Just stopping to take in the views as I am hunting Elk in the valleys is worth the admission price for me. To all of you who have posted videos or screenies of your games, thank you. It is great to see so many people enjoying this.
  7. OT Braveheart

I must say, as an Australian, I find this thread both informative and highly amusing. My people were kicked out of that part of the world long ago.
  8. That was fascinating and frightening in equal measure. Those cramped conditions were just horrifying, no place for the faint of heart I think.
  9. Some random screenies from the missions I have been doing lately...
  10. Boring April?

Nice. A positive result all around I would think. Have a great time flying in 56, make it through until march of 1918 and you may just wish there were less enemy in the air though....just sayin'.
  11. Hurricane Irene

All the best to you guys and your families, whan nature calls it's pretty loud. Jeez Shiloh, you are well away from that mate. It reminds me of the scenes here in Australia earlier this year. It happens so fast and is devastating when it does. Good luck everyone.
  12. Boring April?

Hi Tix, I am by no means the brains of this outfit. But I can let you know that having nothing much happening in the way of scouts during April in 56 Sqn doesnt sound right at all. I am currently running a campaign in that squadron and have just come through that time and there was plenty of enemy activity. If you need to reinstall and patch up though, go take a look at this http://combatace.com/topic/37488-off3-issues/ Note where it says you need to delete all files, some of them need to be manually searched for and deleted before reinstall apparently. I dont know if that can help, but looking throught he 'help' pages mught get ou something. If not, keep making noise until someone that knows what they are talking about hears you....(that isn't me by the way.) Anyway, Welcome to the forums.
  13. Back, many missions ago. Sam Vimes met Hermann Goring, flying the jasta 27 colours, according to the in game info....So I shot him down.
  14. Phase 4

I just had a look through the pics too. I saw an observer with a Lee Enfield, seriously! That is the coolest thing I have seen in some time. Of course it all looked great, but that just caught my imagination for some reason.
  15. My first sighting of a Camel in game... I want one. During a tangle with some airmen of Jasta 2, I zoomed in for a screenie and was amazed at this detail on the fuselage...Nice work Dev types, this is awesome.
  16. USAF Museum virtual Tour

    That was great, thanks.
  17. Great Pics Andy73... I had never seen one of those flying before now, thanks. Here is a little collage I have made from an escort mission I just flew. We met Jasta's 12 and 10 on the sortie. We only met 10, who were flying Alb.D.V early, which I hadnt seen in the sky until now, because my 'wingman' got shot up and was flying in a straight line away from our lines and over their airfield.
  18. Ripping Yarns

I have to laugh. That happens to me all the time, beautiful scenes, vicious fights, perfect moments...all with me just gawking at it and no thought for a screenie at all...until I land the plane and think...Damn. Still, there is always one more mission.
  19. Ripping Yarns

Love it. It's a shame that time is a factor and a problem, my greed wants the next chapter please. I love this forum for the writing, Paul Blum's story, all the reports fromt he front, and now these ripping yarns....just brilliant. Drinks all 'round
  20. On Leave for Twelve Days

Have a safe and happy trip Olham. I suppose I could stretch myself to a few more reports in your absence.
  21. Close encounter with a 'sausage'.
  22. Those screens of the EA coming in are great Macklroy. I have tried to show something like this a few times but just havn't quite manged it, good work. Taillyho, as to my reflexes, much like any of my aerial victories, that pausing at the moment the EA 'popped' was pretty much just luck. I had mapped the pause button to my joystick and was playing around with it,trying to get in a 'photographic' position in a dogfight is pure madness. So many opportunities go to waste because of survival, then again I think that I should not fill the forums with my pictures anyway, there must be some kind of limit.
  23. I have followed your advice mate and see the results....I am a happy pilot right now.... A huge Thank You to UK_Widowmaker for uploading this fine skin, go 6sqd.... Yes...A british campaign, come to the dark side Olham.... It will only be a matter of time before I step back into an Albatross now that I know how to use the skins properly, sooo many nice skins for that plane.
  24. Olham, I think it goes without saying, though should be said, that you are one of the most helpful people on the internet...At least, that I have come across. That goes for all of the good people here on this forum, it is a rarity, and a joy to visit. And now, more screenshots. Sam Vimes has been busy...Those DFW's are damn dangerous, I really have to work on my tactics for them...Last time I met them, I had to land near a spotter due to the accurate gunners of Ss-13.
  25. Thanks Olham, I will give that a try. Will look into Irfanview as well, helpful fella you are.
