  1. Ive searched, but every time I try AI in the search box it tells me to go pound sand. Im trying to fly the 6 day war campaign in SF2:I. first mission is naturally an airfield attack. Via the comms menu the only thing I can tell him to do is attack my target, but there's no way to target runways without turning on the simplified features and having nice little red boxes around the target, which Im trying to avoid. So how do you use the wingmen to attack ground targets without going into full arcade mode?
  2. Will the changes made in nvidia control panel effect the game? AA didn't seem to so I assumed that the others wouldn't have any effect either. So there really isn't any benefit to adjusting these lines manually rather than using the in game settings other than the AA?
  3. I'm curious what maxed out graphics settings look like for SF2. My current rig is an i7 2600K/GTX580SC/8gig powered PC I built for CoD. It was a poor investment in that CoD is the absolute definition of epic failure, but it does run everything else rather nicely. Currently my graphics settings under options are thus: [GraphicsOptions] DisplayDeviceID=0 DisplayWidth=1920 DisplayHeight=1080 DisplayDepth=32 AspectRatio=1.777778 AntiAliasing=2 ForceDX9=FALSE ForceVSyncOff=FALSE LensFlare=0 DetailLevel=2 ObjectDetail=2 ObjectTexture=2 CockpitTexture=2 CockpitMirrors=1 CockpitReflection=1 EffectsDetail=2 TerrainDetail=2 TerrainTexture=2 HorizonDistance=2 GroundObjectDensity=2 WaterDetail=2 CloudsDetail=2 Shadow=2 ObjectsFade=TRUE Now is it like IL2's conf.ini in that you can tune these to get much better graphics than the in game settings will allow? What are the min and max for these lines? Ive noticed that with AA it doesn't seem to do much over 4x. Thanks all.
  4. Ah I see. No worries then. Thanks much.
  5. I thought the same thing, but they spin even after the install of some of the big packs like Nato Fighters 4+ and the Vietnam pack. I thought they included 3d clouds but I may be mistaken there.
  6. I cant believe I didnt notice it before but is it normal for te clouds to spin when you look around? Fix? Currently using a full 4 install with both expansion packs, Nov '11 update.
  7. New Dirty Exhaust Effects For SF2

    Thanks much Sir!
  8. of course, I should have realized that. Will find the program for extraction and extract away... AND now I have them for every aircraft. Time to start adding stuff lol!
  9. Works fine with aircraft that I have installed. Stock aircraft dont have an aircraft data .ini Ive tried copy/paste and edit some of the other mod planes into the stock plane folders but no luck, it just removes them from the selection screen. So how would you add to stock aircraft?
  10. This one right? http://combatace.com...effects-in-sf2/ Got an abbreviated version? I think my eyes glazed over half way through the code in the first post. Very technical it would seem. EDIT: And as I read through it a second and third time it seems to me that there is little in common between making these weapons effects and adding others, in my case engine smokes. Ive tried using this mod for a better engine smoke from early jets: http://combatace.com/files/file/8943-new-dirty-exhaust-effect/ When I read the readme about adding the mod it seems that there are large sections of the aircraft's .ini file that are missing and/or have been revamped between SF1 and 2. It makes this quite confusing!
  11. I have been looking around for a fix to the 2D exhaust smoke seen in SF2I. Having seen nothing in the SF2 downloads section/forums, I stumbled across those done for SF1. DL'd, opened, read the readme. Installed according to instructions and...no dice. Is the format for effects between SF1 and 2 so different that a new mothod of install is necessary? If so is there a write up somewhere? Ive found them for converting mods back and forth between the two games, but not relating to effects. Thanks all.
  12. Ive tried using the CH manager, but honestly it wasnt my cup of tea. Besides, I never needed to us it with IL2 UP3/DBW. Whenever I attempt to map one of the extra levers on my throttle in the control menu it has no effect, although it does recognize keys. Id like to map my extra levers to things like flaps, gear, jettison, etc. Customizing the controls doesn't seem to work however as it does not recognize the input of levers other than those used for primary flight control.
  13. So Im starting to get in to SF2I and the only thing that is giving me issues is that I can not figure a way to map the extra axis I have on my throttle quadrant to the game. I have 6, but only one for throttle is currently used. Id also like to map the toe brakes on my pedals, but again Im clueless!
  14. Im having an issue with the extractor. DL's fine, but gets stuck on stupid when its "registering fonts". It just locks up, no progress on the loading bar. There is still a program file in the correct location, but it cant open the CAT files, error says ERROR: Accessing external object property filename. Running windows 7 if that matters.
  15. Oh, no kidding. I didn't even think to look at SF1 series. Thanks all! So far it looks like adding mods to this is way easier than IL2.
