Will the aircraft in SFP1 work in WOV?
Vegasbob replied to navychief's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
THey work but some of them need extensive extraction and ini work to make them fly. I'm going to try copying and moving the weapons folder with the latest weapons pack over.......wish me luck. -
Afterburner?
Vegasbob replied to Boomer714's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Anyone have a better afterburner sound for SF project 1. I found a cool sound from a website but the format is incorrect or something cause you can't hear it. -
GO TO SIMHQ NOW!!!!
Vegasbob replied to CowboyTodd41's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
From what I have read over there it looks like if you buy this new sim you get Project one with different terrain and Carrier ops for ~$50. Why can't we just make a carrier in Project one work. I love project 1 but can't see the logic in spending another $50 for the "same" game. -
I 100% agree. I have to disagree with John Kerry and George Bush on this. Neither candidate has given details of what the will do when they get the job. I hope the debates change that but I have a feeling it will be a bilateral smear fest. In that case, I think Bush will win, but if issues are discussed, I think it will be Kerry
-
I like it. Only problem is that we no longer have the money to regulate. Bush has spent us into a 500 billion dollar deficit. Taxes will have to be raised or our country will end up in economic ruin. Democrats have a bad reputation for raising taxes but they always have to pay off the republican's debts.
-
Now if we could get our respective candidates to do the same, we all might be able to make an informed decision........I want details.

That reminds me of the foreign policy of the US pre WWI and II. Non interference. This is the only way to stay out of wars. Be on Defense, not offence. If it wasn't for our countries meddling in foreign affairs such as the Israeli-palestinian conflict, or the Soviet-afganistan conflict, or the Iran-Iraq war, we wouldn't be the target of terrorists, and ~ 3,000 people would still be alive.
-
I even disagree with some of the things I hear on his show, but I would never let my kids hear it. Most of the music heard on the radio nowadays is just about as bad. I probably would not let a young child even listen to the radio until I knew they would understand that the "musicians" do not want others to act the way they do.

I'd like to say that I have enjoyed this discussion. We may be on different sides but the level of intelligence in this conversation has been very high. Most of the people I debate with are so close minded and un-informed that it is useless to talk to them. Great points on both sides.
-
yes both borders. I didn't mean close, but security needs to at least be on par with the airports.
-
I need to clarify my remarks a bit. When I said bush wants to regulate what I listen too, and what I watch, I am refering to the crack down on media. Call me a jerk, or a pervert but I enjoy listening to Howard Stern and watching naked females on film. John Ashcroft wants to heavily regulate those things. He also wants to limit what can be shown on HBO, and showtime. WTF!!!! Leave our freedoms alone. They don't want children to see and hear such things. Fine. I'm a teacher, and I would like to see parents raise their kids. Should accomplish the same goals.
-
Perhaps armed sentry posts are a bit extreme. You have to admit that we have no manpower on our borders. border patrol agents will tell you they are heavily under staffed. In order to help this, Congress wants to give citizenship to illegals that are already here. They will be in the system so they will have to pay taxes and those tax dollars could be used to reinforce our borders. There is no perfect solution, but cutting the tap to a slow trickle would certainly help.

Who cares about signing documents. Our troops will be staying in Iraq for years to come. The terrorists are here and in Afganistan but nobody is looking for them. Hell, Saddam Hussein was an ally in the war on terror. He would not allow any power rival to stay in his country. Now that he is gone, terrorist are all over that country. We have 146,000 troops in Iraq, but only 9,000 in afganistan.
-
WE ARE ATTACKED BY TERRORISTS ON A DAILY BASIS!!!!! I define terrorists as anyone who causes loss of life or quality of life. Every illegal alien that crosses the border drags on our economy and our way of life. This is terrorism. Every minor that crosses the border is automatically given rights as a US citizen including Medicaid. My wife works in an orthopaedic surgeons office and she ROUTINELY sees patients that have only been in the country for a few weeks and already have medicaid.
-
Yeah, Welfare reform. Clinton did more work on Welfare reform that Bush has. Bush hasn't even mentioned it. Instead he has sent jobs to other countries promoting the use of welfare and medicaid in this country. I agree with republicans on Welfare. I just don't see any republicans in office prepared to do anything about it.

I believe that John Kerry did the right thing to testify against the Vietnam war. I also believe he should appologize to veterans for some of the remarks he made about soldiers commiting war crimes. I understand the logic behind it however. In order to get the governments attention, you have to shock them. The war crimes he reported were documented in reports and it has been a long known fact that they did indeed occur. I don't blame the vets for it. They were sent to Vietnam to die for a war not worth fighting for. It was a war that could not be won no matter how many troops were sent, bombs dropped or enemy killed. We are right in the middle of the same type of war in Iraq. The enemy is not seen until a bomb explodes killing soldiers and destroying tanks. On the question of oil and gas refineries in Cali. : It is Bush's policy of de-regulation and Cheney's energy policies that have given oil company's record profits. I saw a report on Exxon and how they have made record profits every year bush has been in office. Sniprkilr: Thanks for mentioning Kerry's voting record. Any senator that does not reverse their positions on certain bills before they are voted on should be recalled imediately. It means that they are not reading the bills they are voting for and they are not thinking about their constituents. I'm glad John Kerry is a flip flopper. It means that he is a man of thought and intelligence. He will not jump into a decision blindly without forethought as our current president does on a daily basis
-
I honestly don't care what Kerry did in Vietnam. It is fact that he was there and anyone that set foot in that hellhole deserves medals. I thank all veterans for their service. The issues in this campaign are what are going on at home. The goal of the war on terror should be preventing terror attacks from happening here at home. I went to Tijuana Mexico two weeks ago and the only security check I was given was a two-second glance at my Drivers license and an x-ray of my stuff. Any Middle eastern terrorist could walk across the border with a fake Id and not even be asked a question. We need fences with sentry posts and armed men prepared to shoot anyone making a run at the border. We certainly need to have further background checks at the border checkpoints. All of us are unprotected from terror attacks at this moment. Most of the national guard units are deployed in Iraq right now so we are extremely vulnurable. The other thing that the Bush supporters are touting is his aggressive stance toward North Korea and Iran as well as Iraq previously. As the President said, the war on terror is not winnable. That is true with the half-assed pussy way he has gone about it. Think about it, how do you win a war? You kill more of them than they kill of us. They have killed around 4,000 total including the 9/11 attacks. how many of them have we killed? 500? maybe 2,000 total. They are winning my friends. You may ask my solution to the problem. There are no "popular" solutions to the problem. You have two options. Option number 1: Annihilate the entire middle east as well as exterminate all people of middle eastern descent in other countries around the world. The enemy muslims dress just like the friendly muslims so how can you be sure. Option number 2: Completely withdraw from the rest of the world. Pull all troops and financial aid from other nations......including Israel. Why do you think Canada is never threatened by anyone? They stay neutral. I would be willing to bet that if we exercised option number two, we would not experience another terrorist attack on our nation. So who do we vote for? Not an easy choice. Neither candidate will support my position in the war on terror. I will vote on what affects me the most and that is what happens here. I don't support a president that is willing to force freedoms on other nations and take away my freedoms here. This A-hole we have in office now doesn't want to allow me to listen to what I want, watch what I want, or believe what I want. He makes decisions based upon what his RELIGION and his GOD tells him to decide. The Taliban did the same thing in Afganistan. We have some veterans on this forum here and it's a shame that your president would like to take away freedoms that your brothers died for. That is what will motivate my decision to vote for John Kerry. Kerry testified on veteran's behalf to motivate the government to bring you guys home. He had to say a lot of horrible things for that to happen. The next generation of veterans are being used in Iraq right now for selfish purposes. They are guarding Dick Cheney's oil. They are dying for a guy that recieved five service deferments to avoid going to Vietnam. Long enough for everyone? Hopefully you enjoy reading it.

An Announcements from Sound Team Project.....
Vegasbob replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
THese sounds rock!!! One improvement that could be made however is the F-15 sounds need to be a whole lot LOUDER!!!!! Also, a new afterburner sound would be nice. Other than that, the sounds are way better, especially the A-10 and F-104. -
I am bored!!!!! I need a new flight sim
Vegasbob replied to firehawkordy's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Il-2 will work very well on your system and is definately worth the money. The multi-player alone is worth the money. THe flight models are very accurate. My system is old as well: Celeron 1.07 GHZ, Geforce II 32 mb, 384 mb of ram, but this game runs extremely well on it. FS2002 pro is a good choice if you like civilian sims. Millions of add-ons for it. Some other choices: Janes USAF, or F-!8 F-18 precision strike fighter (s**tty graphics, but has carrier ops) B-17 the Mighty Eighth -
Download the "Top Gun" F-14 from http://www.surclaro.com/fs2004_c24.html. It simulates catapult take-off and if you land with the tailhook down, it catches on the ground and simulates a trap. I've landed it on a carrier without the arrcab add-on and it works great.

4 new planes released!
Vegasbob replied to MadJeff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Looks like the flight models have been tweaked on all of them. The F-15a flies much differently than the c model. Not as twitchy. Great job to the modders on these beauties!!!! -
So Is This Game Really Worth Buying
Vegasbob replied to SFC_Spectre's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oh yeah, that is gauranteed!!!!! I nearly crushed my computer trying to get this game to work. With the patches though, it might be a little bit easier. -
Vietnam Campaign And Carrier Ops?
Vegasbob replied to navychief's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah, It's a shame. We now have a bunch of Navy planes for strike fighters and nowhere to land them. NEED CARRIER OPS as soon as possible.
